However, a lot of it was and in this short summary I delve into the key history of the corporation, what made Britain such a renound car maker in the 1950's and 60's (1963 marked the peak success of British motor manurfacturing) and the dreadful actions that ultimatley led to its downfall. STUNNING 1977 TVR 3.0L Taimar - AMORE AUTOS
Просмотров 758Год назад
The TVR Taimar of 1976-1979 marked a real step-up in the brand as for the first time ever, the cars weren't just quick, but also practical. The Taimar was a slightly restyled version of its predecessor the 3000M, but from the windscreen-back it was all new to incorporate a hatchback design, which meant it was now more usable than ever. While the Taimar also had the same engine as the 3000M, the...
RARE 1989 TVR 400SE - AMORE AUTOS
Просмотров 850Год назад
The TVR 400SE was introduced in 1988 and marked the end of an era for Peter Wheeler's wedge-car series before the likes of the new Griffith and Chimaera were introduced in the early 1990's. It offered a revised body shape for the time with a new interior and 3948cc engine producing 270hp. That meant a top speed of 150mph and a 0-60 time of just 5 seconds. Those were super car figures but at a f...

The AMAZING motors of the Sidmouth Classic Car Show 2022
Che subisce lo stesso destino di quella inglese
La stessa cosa bisogna chiedersi cosa è andato storto anche all'industria automobilistica italiana
Sadly all gone.... I think part of the problem was the bean counters ran the company and everything was done as cheaply as possible to make a profit on each sale... People always criticize Lucas Electrics. Lucas are a good quality company who supply some space programs... Leyland and Brit Motorcycle management wanted all the looms cheaper so quality was cut.... Volvo cars had decent electrical systems, also supplied by Lucas...
Who got a Schoolboy to do the review. 😊
The worker union, the inevicenty, the Design, the quality. Look nothing realy nothing which is crafted by British is competitive by any means!
this, roughly, explains what happened, but not a words about how or why. where did this BL come from? how did they manage to buy every car manufacturer?
Bad management and constant strikes, not just BL, but Ford and Vauxhall too, which is why they eventually moved all production to Germany. BL lost a lot of their foreign market and there was no way they could survive with just a home market. Also making modern cars, like the princess which was not a bad car tbh, but they were still being fitted with 4 speed gearboxes. One thing to remember are the amount of makers now who have copied the Mini's transverse engine location.
Any excuse to play Stone Temple Pilots
A great soundtrack for an amazing car
If thats not a 90s color, i dont know what is
Chevvy Chevvy on the wall, Who’s the 3100 of you all?
Definitely the British automotive industry is probably one of the worst in the world whilst there are a few independent manufactures that are British owned most of the Big ones (E.G Mini or MG) are owned Under foreign ownership It’s simply because of British Leyland and the horrible government can be said for any industry even railways for example the exact same thing as happened With many industries in the UK and so are lots of car factories in the UK nowhere near as much If any “British” Car manufacturers exist anymore
We dont make anything. Because the company's first responsibility is to make the shareholder money, so it has to go overseas for cheaper inputs.
American prefer american cars, Italian prefer italian cars, German prefer german cars, French prefer french cars; Swedish prefer buy swedish cars, Spanish prefer spanish cars, Japenese prefer Japenese cars. British prefer not buy british cars.
American cars are a small agreement of the American market. Americans buy Japanese cars because American cars are awful.
Really interesting and well-presented video!
Thanks a lot I’m glad you enjoyed it
I love TVR's!! Im just paranoid about their reliability
When maintained properly by specialists who know what they’re doing, used regularly and well cared for, the reliability of TVR’s isn’t really a worry… more the loud exhaust note that could annoy your neighbours!
: Australian car industry enters the room.
Sorry 807 but that was in poor taste, on a good day. Not good
I drove a british car for ten years, because i was, and i still am a great fan of the people in the uk. That car costed me nerves until i finally had to sell it, because i had to commute 400 km the last years of my career. Since i drive my x1 BMW, i never had to look for new oil spots under my car. Sorry, brits, i love you, but concentrate on things, you are good in, like stand up comedy!😂🇩🇪🇬🇧🇩🇪🇬🇧🇩🇪🇬🇧❤
The UK calling! My German father always drove a Beetle in the '50s, '60s and '70s (two different cars) and he simply got into it, started it, and drove it to work. Or Germany for family holidays. Meanwhile, in damp or frosty winter months, we were surrounded by UK-built cars, bonnets up, cranking over and over, owners cursing and spraying all sorts of magic starter fluids into their Fords/Austins/Hillmans/Vauxhalls etc. Mostly Fords though. There was just one winter morning his Beetle didn't start instantly. The battery had died. I followed suit driving air cooled VWs until 2017. I won't pretend they never broke down though - one time coming home from Germany in 1968 (repaired with a screwdriver), and another time in 2007 closer to home.
As a teen in the UK I always craved a TVR finally owned a S2 in Toronto back in the mid 90 ‘s , First time I took it for a serious drive in the country managed to achieve a 360 spin which was a major lesson in driving . Was constantly being yelled at while driving around Toronto “ what are you driving “ loved the car easy to maintain biggest issue was having to be so careful when parking as the front end was always subject to possible “ taps” on the concrete parking spacers . Never drove it October to March so I doubt if I put on 5,000 k in the 5 year ownership which was kinda silly but fulfilled a childhood dream .
Wow what a story, great to hear the car created some happy memories
Part 2?
Yes it’s on my channel, a continuation of the story…
I restored an MGB for my partner. It was fun. Driving it, not so much. Actually it was a terrible car.
Thank you and loved the S which I knew nothing about before.
Thanks a lot mate, glad you learnt something👍
BMC was a shitshow and dragged the rest down along with it, in a very protracted tale costing billions.
Poor attitude, leads to poor work ethic, which leads to poor output, which leads to poor cars. Advances in technology and the provision of investment, does - NOTHING - to improve the situation in the manufacturing industry. The *ATTITUDE* of absolutely every single member of staff, is what counts for EVERYTHING when it really comes down to it. Were I in charge of British Leyland, the first thing I would have worked on, is de-corrupting the staff in absolutely every way possible - whether it be from being loaded up with bad news from the tabloids first thing in the morning and carrying the ethereal effects of that into the factory, or talking about idle matters such as football matches and "getting wasted" before and/or after the match. The same would go with toxic interrelationships - even those the staff aren't consciously aware of. The "strikes" that take place in this country are oftentimes miss the mark by a considerable margin as to the true origins of the discontent, so that the underlying causes are never appropriately addressed, but instead a sticking plaster over another sticking plaster is used to temporarily move matters sideways. It's so mind-numbing, that I have difficulty being able to appreciate quite how dysfunctional it really was.
The video maker clearly has to educate themselves on the unions guilt in the deaths of U.K. car manufacturing, but nice try blaming Maggie for burying the corpse the unions and management killed.
When i was young in the 70s there were many British vehicles in Kenya Leyland, Albion, Bedford, Triumph, Morris even Ford was from UK. 80s ERF was a very good Bus.
Too bad. America really loves mid-engine sports cars!
Very true, it was such a missed opportunity to comfortably break into the American market. Who knows what might have happened if it had been a success!
Another problem with British cars has been their questionable reliability.
guidata una v8s...bellissima
The V8 is a better car all round than the V6. More powerful & handles better.
Leonard Lord brought the car industry together, Tony Benn nationalised the car industry, Derek Robinson made the workers go on strike and Michael Edwardes helped Maggie Thatcher sell the car industry off.
I remember back in 1967, I was into club rallying with a SAAB 96. My friend whose parents owned the local garage had just bought and prepared a Mini Cooper S. On his first rally, the three spot welds on the bracket that secured the front suspension stabiliser arm let go leading to the collapse of the n/s front suspension and c/v drive shaft. A nut and bolt through the jigging hole would have resolved the problem, but a 2p bolt was just too much for British Leyland. Without quality control, all you do is is produce junk. So hardly shedding tears that the British motor industry went the way of the dodo. Not that SAAB was exactly defect free, but at least they went broke. OK, so rally driving a standard production car was hardly conductive to reliability, but I never bought another new car. Jack, the Japan Alps Brit
Wow what an amazing time to have been rallying, especially in something as cool as a SAAB 96. That’s a real shame for your friend though, seeing as classic Mini’s are rebound for their rallying success, the most significant victory of course being Monte Carlo 1964.
yes Britain had even lovely aircraft, but in the 1970s UK joined today's EU and then politicians decided to take out English companies and produce it elsewhere, thank you EU for effing up England and other countries, effing 2nd class dumb politicians. a German politician took out a very well known car factory in the early days Wartburg, 3 years after the owner died and left him with nothing.
The management didnt or couldnt manage. They blamed the workforce for everything and that just wasnt true. Then they privatised everything that the public owned. What a mess.
H15 VBS which is shown in the film, was featured at Motorfair 1991. Driven by Michelle Newman of Top Gear. H15 VBS was also featured in various publicity shots, also featured in the September 1991 edition of Autocar and Motor, Performance Car, Fast Lane magazines. December 1991 TVR Engineering decided to sell the car. The registration number was changed to H197DFR. In 2000 I bought the car. I still have the car which has been restored. Some history of a V8s. A history file as long as my arm!!
Wow! When you search up 'TVR V8S' online, or in most classic car books for that matter, H15 VBS is the result. What a beautiful beast, thank you for sharing its amazing story... I'm sure you'll carry on taking good care of it😄
I had an S3C for 4-5 years. Fabulous fun, reliable and I enjoyed tinkering with it. I still have Steve Heath’s book which is brilliant. Always sounded fabulous but its problem was that it was not directionally stable. To keep it straight required constant small corrections and I felt it could bite in the wet. The E34 525i I got afterwards was probably a faster car point to point as it was so stable and accessible with good grip levels and predictable handling.
I’m sure it was full of character though!
@@automationvisuals7867 So much so. I used to go away for long periods and when I got back I would fire it up and take it out. I remember some white fluff getting blasted up out of the exhaust as I blipped the throttle😂 Literally clearing the lungs!
I have an S3, & It's scary in the wet & doesn't handle bumps in the road very well either. Immense fun though & very exciting.
@@GBURGE55 all part of the fun I suppose!
There is one reason why the British motoring industry is the cars were absolute crap and they sre still crap and of course the Japanese cars and the Japanese companies are still building cars and one if them is the best and largest motor manufacturers in the world famous for there reliability and build quality is the best and that is Toyota
Nicely shot... My Renault 17 you featured is actually a USA spec Gordini, not a TL, but nice to see it in there 🙂
Thanks a lot and sorry about the naming mistake… I added your Renault to the film because I recognised it, after seeing it in March 2022 in the car park of a car show at Downside Abbey. It seems you’ve made some modifications since then, looks great
@@automationvisuals7867 there's a way to go yet... A proper paint job and a fresh motor the two biggest hurdles so hopefully you'll see it in it's finished state later next year!
@@paulbinding7111 Good luck, I look forward to seeing the result of all the hard work!
I just bought a Chimaera but love those S models.
Congratulations, both models are beautiful
nice to see my Trabi on here. at 1:36 i drove down the day before from south humberside. Thought it wouldn't make it and back but it did. haha.
The Trabant was a real stand out of show, such a charming little car… I’m glad the trip was successful
Has to be the subaru's to be honest, mine was parked next to the 99 rb5 you showed, mine is a 1994 acropolis special addition no 6/100 and not many left these days
The amount of Subaru’s was insane, some beautiful examples. You’re acropolis’ gold wheels really stood out as well.
My wagon is rarer mate.
0:37 The next Jeremy Clarkson right here! Amazing video mate! My favourite is probably Martin from TGT
Thanks a lot mate and yes Martin is currently looking in great shape!

My Mk1 focus RS 😁
It was a beautiful example… a MK1 Ford Focus is my dream first car but I definitely won’t be able to afford an RS!
@@automationvisuals7867 give it time and just keep an eye on the market prices are a bit up and down atm so you never know you might get lucky
Waheyyy my 205!
The 205 GTi has to be my favourite hot hatch of all time… if you’re ever thinking of selling it get in touch haha!
@@automationvisuals7867 haha it’s not actually a GTI! It has a dturbo engine in it! Cooler in my opinion 🤣
@@tillyashfield1629 Ahh my mistake… certainly makes it more unique
My Lotus Mark 6 is a very early 1953/4 car with Ford Consul engine and very rare rear enveloppantes !
And it’s beautiful as a result…
I know that TVR is a monolith of reliability, but I still want one, unfortunately we never got these in the U.S. Early Grifiiths' are my soft spot for TVR, would love to get my hands on one and put a more reliable but comparable engine in it, I would be the idiot to try to daily drive it at that point.
We are lucky to have them over here in the UK and I agree that Griffith’s are stunning cars
When it comes to British sports cars, people go for Jaguar, Lotus, etc. But for me, I think TVR is where it's really at.
I’d agree with you on that one, TVR’s have always been more outrageous, experimental and arguably beautiful
Great vid! If I could have a TVR, it would be an 'S'.
Thanks a lot… great choice👍
I've had mine for 20 years, the poor old thing sits outside in all weathers & never let's me down. Great car, they have their problems but I wouldn't be without it.
Good choice. Hope it stays with you for another 20 in same condition.
