    What interface setup do you use? I want Clarett octo pre to go with my clarett 8pre but not sure if you can bypass the preamps when patching in gear. Any suggestions?

    • @redshedrecords
      @redshedrecords 3 дня назад

      I used to have a Clarett Octo-Pre to ADAT to my Apollo x8p, and switched to the a Ferrofish Pulse 16 (Love the conversion and sound of this) I think if you use TRS plugs it automatically makes it Line Level, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I recommend something with a bit better conversion if you wanna be picky like anything RME or Ferrofish. Apollo is good but some say has a "sound" to them like a high-mid boost and a little less low-end than others. Either way, if you're paying over $1,000 for converters, you'll be fine, and your mixing skills and monitoring will make more of a difference.

    • @freddiebarrguitar

    Hey i Order these because i saw this video . i just got them ... the screw on the side is a lil too short for flex stands ...but it a great design tho.. Can you make some for the 7R as well ?

    • @redshedrecords
      @redshedrecords 3 дня назад

      Yo thanks for grabbing some and for the feedback! It looks like the Chauvet Flex Stands have 2 pole diameters. Have you tried flipping the pole over? I could include a longer bolt from now on either way! It's a 3/8-16 standard hex bolt if you'd need to go to the hardware store for a longer one. Have you tried these mounts on the 7R? I'm curious if the frames are the same. I'll just have to buy some of those lights to model off of 😄

  • @tlb2732
    @tlb2732 14 дней назад

    I use a similar approach. But I have complete control of my digital mixer onstage in the event I need to make adjustments. I also hand a tablet to my daughter who manages FOH volume balance throughout the show. And you should try my lighting approach. I've tried many options, including foot controllers. I've programmed scripted scenes and chases. But they are too constraining if you wanna take a long solo or change song order. What I've settled on is simply programming several long chases without any beat sensative, rapid changes or strobing. It's all DMX from a simple programmable controller. I use the Blizzard Kontrol 5 mounted in a case with other gear. All scenes transition with a slow fade. Some have pleasing color blends on the back wall with white on each performer. Some are color blends with no white or solid color washes of varying intensity. There is enough perceived movement to keep it engaging to the eyes in the audience. And I can choose different chase selections from set to set to keep it interesting. On breaks, I just dim the lights down on a static scene and bring up the break music. It works very well for us and allows us to focus on performing.

    • @redshedrecords
      @redshedrecords 14 дней назад

      @tlb2732 Nice! I also keep a tablet on stage to make any monitor changes for the band. For lighting, we have a small lighting package, and the whole show is programmed out with a cue stack for each song. We don't play to a click, so our foh guys cues each change (15-30 cues per song) manually on time. He also does some manual "punches", stobes, and momentary effects in key moments of each song. I absolutely hate those diy shows with "automatic" lights that just change and move randomly throughout the show. I either want a talor-made show for the band, or I'd just have the house LD busk the set for us if we don't bring our rig. Obviously different solutions for different situations. I'll be making a video on that rig soon enough 😁

    @dez5 16 дней назад

    why put inputs at bottom???

    • @bobbyarthur-yf3yf
      @bobbyarthur-yf3yf 15 дней назад

      Well generally you first bay starts on the channel strip of your mixing board so the insert comes out of the strip into the bay then out of the top and into the bottom … if you don’t insert anything the card inside the patchbay can be set to be normalised ( full normal ) so the signal is not broken when the bay insert is not used … the top out can also then be sent to say a compressor and returned to the bottom input to re complete the signal if you wanted a compressor in the line … the there is also half normal set ups but we digress ..

    Setting up arrays with 2 people and in a hurry while everyone is watching you is nightmare fuel😂 was in this scenario last weak and i used Martin cdd live 15s and 2 sxc 118 subs. Really easy setup with an xr12. And even if it wasn't a stressful setup a line array for that tiny stage is a push and its a really overkill system.

    • @redshedrecords
      @redshedrecords 16 дней назад

      Ahaha it was definitely a bit anxiety inducing, especially wearing a camera on top of it all 😅 The pole Mount array is definitely an easy setup, and was definitely not overkill tho. For the 100 degree coverage and being so lightweight is the reason I switched from trap boxes. There was never a way to get the trap boxes off the ground without more cases, and I definitely don't want to stack them on subs and split the low end array. I like the sound of bigger cabinets, but this is much more manageable to set up effectively by myself if needed. I plan on getting lifts to fly them for bigger shows as well.

    Great build! Very Clean! I am looking at building something exactly like this as the power distribution boxes I've been looking at have all been either £800 or up. I know a couple electricians I can ask for advise, but I'm looking at building a switchable input 32amp (3 phase and single phase) with PowerCON locking outputs (exactly as you have here). As I'm in the UK we have very strict regulations on electronics, especially when dealing with distribution and power management, so I will likely have to get a qualified electrician to give a stamp of approval.

Really need to get them flown though, the bottom 2 boxes (in this example) are not doing much, but I get it, its pretty sketchy getting them up higher polemounting them, if your tripod wasn't at max height anyway. Also small note about your acces point, I see you have the antenna's facing in a Y, to get the best range, I would put them straight up, as that's how they're meant to be in your usecase, they're "looking" at the ground in the current setup you use.
