    I realize this thread is a few years old but I'm looking for some help with my BLA Bluey. I only get meter showing compression action when I crank the input of the unit up clock wise starts working around 5 o'clock, but then I need to put output down to 7 or 8 o'clock so as to not overload my recording unit. . It seems like the unit only recognizes Mic input that way. If I do the "CLA Setting" as mentioned, I get zero compression. I've tried different gain staging with mic pre. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong or if unit could possible be defective. My chain is Mic-Mic Pre-BLA Bluey-Input of recording unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Question. Wouldn't the Studiolive 24 also be an audio interface as well as a Daw controller? I'm still researching all it can do prior to purchasing but it is my understanding that it would do everything and therefore take the place of your other interfaces. Not really sure, that's why I'm asking. Thanks and have a great day!

    • @redshedrecords
      @redshedrecords Месяц назад

      Yes! It definitely is also an audio interface and you can flip back and fourth between the internal console mix and the DAW control. I chose to only use it as a controller since my other preamps and converters are "better", and would otherwise require me to patch and unpatch analog snakes when I pull the desk out for live gigs. This way it's just 1 IEC cable and 1 Network cable 👍 This console is SO powerful and flexible for both studio and live use especially if you're on StudioOne

      Thanks for the reply. The online pictures of the ground stack/pole mount/fly rig look much bigger than that. I’ve never flown my HDL6A’s but have the lighter 3 speaker pole mounts and love them. I’ve done some really large outdoor fests with them and usually get told that they are too loud with more than 2 cabinets. The coverage of the 6” is pretty amazing. They are probably my favorite RCF speaker due to their coverage and throw.

      Hey! We use Daslight 5 and an Akai 88 Midi pad. Our band doesn't run tracks, so all cue changes and hits / strobes etc are all done by Kale, our FOH guy! Each song is anywhere from 15-30 cues he has to hit "go" on. Each cue just consists of pre-programmed patterns, colors, movements etc that the lights do. There are a lot of manual punches and such that are added on top.

      The 9006 is an absolute monster. It's the most transparent low end out of the JBL, DB, QSC etc that I compared it to. They are very pricey and for the money you could get 2 boxes of another brand. The JBLs mentioned are also very good and really hit you in the chest. 1 9006 can easily cover 200-500 people, but it depends on the genre. If it's heavy rock or anything that needs massive low end headroom, you'll want 2 cabinets of any dual 18 either way.

    Can your EQ, compressor and other fx be not affected by whatever you do in the main mix. Like each link auxes can be mix the way I want per channel?

    • @redshedrecords
      @redshedrecords 2 месяца назад

      Short answer, no. You can either have the aux mix channel processing be the same as the main mix (pre2), or dry (pre1). If you want 2 mixes, you need another mixer, like a Studiolive 32 console or one of the other models. Then you'll have 2 mixers' worth of channel processing when one of the two mixers are in Monitor Mixer mode ( stagebox mode shares processing as well). Hope this helps!

    • @jokerswildmusic4882
      @jokerswildmusic4882 2 месяца назад

      The studiolive allows for dual patching of input sources. For instance, if I wanted to process a lead singers vocal independently from the what’s going through the pa, I will use 2 channels both patched to receive input from the vocal mics source. This creates 2 identical channels, one can be sent to the PA and the other can be sent to the singers monitor mix. The 2nd channel going to the monitor mix can be eq, compressed, independently from the 1st channel going to the PA. Downside is you’re taking up another channel but, if you’re not capped on your inputs, it works amazingly

    Thank you! Finally someone shows us the details in Universal Control on the 32r for the sound support. Btw, I thought changing the pre1 to pre2 in the Aux mix would track changes I made in the main FOH mix.

    • @redshedrecords
      @redshedrecords 2 месяца назад

      Glad it was helpful! And yes, on Pre2 if you make Gate/EQ/comp changes, those changes effect both FOH and the aux mix. Pre1 keeps the aux mix "dry" and changes only effect FOH. You'd have to ring out your monitors with the GEQ and EQ on the aux mix master fader itself.

    • @redshedrecords
      @redshedrecords 3 месяца назад

      I was doing this once! When the 32r is plugged into USB to your computer with the DAW, the main L/R comes down channels 33/34 or 35/36 orrrr one of the later channels on the mixer. I cant remember which ones. If you put those faders up on the main mix (or make sure to put them all in pre1 or 2 and not post) and then pull them up in whatever monitor mix you need you'll be set! Let me know if this helps.

    Small advice: Make sure you have enough room behind your ramp in case you lose control of your road case. You wouldn't want it crashing it into the side of that BMW. Plus more room when loading your trailer because you can get a bit more speed into the case before hitting the ramp. Speed = momentum = less effort needed to get it to the top of the ramp.

    Dumb question here, but based on how you're splitting, how does gain staging work between your rack mixer and front of house? What about phantom power? Another way to ask, how do you keep your mixer and FOH from sword fighting?

      Both consoles (foh and mon) are after the copper splitter, so each console handles the gain for their own channels. Phantom power (of the splitter allows phantom power to pass through, which is not always the case iirr) can be provided by foh mixer or mon mixer, and often times it's best to choose which one (most logical is the mon mixer since it's close to the splitter)
