Hey, we're the mySKATE crew, and we run a proshop inside Cockburn Ice Arena in Perth, Western Australia. We stock figure and hockey skates, protective gear and accessories for the sports of ice hockey and figure skating! We also sell inline and quad skates.
We realise that the world of ice sports and all of the equipment can be a bit daunting to somebody new to ice sports, so we'd like to use this channel to demystify a lot of the gear that we stock, as well as share some tips and tricks, knowledge videos, and maybe even some product reviews as new gear comes out!

My 3-year old grandson wants to learn to skate and play hockey. What are your thoughts on his first pair of ice skates? I played hockey as a kid and adult and they didn't have youth adjustable skates then - thoughts on these for beginners? Thanks.
Go to an local hockey store and ask for help 💪
Cockburn? 😳🤦
i think you messed up the clip for the bauer x and the xlp one's
My Supper Feet are Blue what is the one closest?
I have the Bauer X-LP good skates for beginners 👍⛸️ have the Bauer Supreme M3 too quality is better but the X-LP look good and having fun on the Ice
Knee hockey 1🏆🏅🎖🥇
I got the superfeet hockey insoles shortly after I got my new pair of skates, then I got another pair for my old skates, and after talking to some knowledgeable people I now skate barefoot haha
Hi! Home ti understand when it's time to upgrade to stiffer boots? I am now beginning to practice single jumps
My 18 yr old daughter would like to learn to skate. She is going to use my older skates to try. Is it easier to learn on dull or sharp blades.
Nah dull skates make you fall easier
I used to think professional skaters had blades sharp as knives lol
They are
T.y🤜💯 Can you link the description for the website so I can purchase this.👏 No life without skating ⛸️
Thanks for the info. Ice skating sure has ⛸️ changed since My days. I skated in Sp teri skates with an MK blade since I was a teenager. They have a wooden heal which is very heavy. But I could easily land a waltz jump. I love those skates. But after 20 years of them sitting in a bag,🤔 I guess that put pressure on them. Or maybe my foot just got way wider. Bottom line I went to skate on these skates & after 30 mins I had blisters bad . I wanted to start back into skating to help with my overall health. After putting on a pair of Jackson mystique Ultima & walking around the pro shop it just felt so good to not feel any bit of pain. Having a wider pair of skates that fit like a glove. Although they are so comfortable. I might have bought these skates a little too fast. As I keep reading online , they're more for a beginner and not good for landing jumps. I'm not able to return these Skates. I do like skating in them. My question is can I land small jumps in these skates? As I advance I could buy another pair. Thanks so much and I subscribed to your channel.
Best skates under $150?
When I played hockey years ago I was a defenseman and I would get them profiled for that position. But I didn't sharpen my skates every game usually every other or so. I feel it's more of a personal decision for each player.
😢 Promo'SM
20 hours?!?!? What in the holy hell…3-4 hours MAX
Yo ur a rocket lowkey
I use my speedplates always. I take them out of my 2xpros and put them directly in my Jordan's. I also use them while cycling. I feel better for it. I remold when I feel like it.
I have new Risport RF3 pro. They rub on the top edge on the outside of the foot. Can I fix this by lacing (looser, tighter, not all the way to the top) and does it get better over time?
In your last video you told everyone to wear thick socks…..
If you have your own Figure skates Regular Socks or thin socks are best If you are using rentals use thick socks
If you have your own Figure skates Regular Socks or thin socks are best If you are using rentals use thick socks
I heard the exact opposite, not wear thick socks because it prevents the skate from tightening down properly on your foot…..
That's correct, once you've got your own pair of figure skates, thin socks will be more suitable. However, as a first timer typically will be using plastic rental skates, we recommend thicker socks.
1" for goalies hasn't really been a thing for 20 years. Most goalie skates are 3mm steel now and goalies use edges more than ever.
You can’t go plastic skates vs hockey skates Lmfao …
Just ordered some super feet comfort because my smaller foot is having horrendous arch pain as the boot breaks down. Hopefully helps the heel lifting and arch cramps!
Update: finally tried them today, felt incredible and fixed every issue I had, pain free skate for first time in a good few months! So pleased 😍
Hello! I am on adult level 3 in figure ice skating. I was wondering if it is okay for me to wear the pants that cover my skates? And can I wear them at my level or is it only for high level skaters? I just don't want to look like I'm a professional when I'm skating in them. Because I'm not. Please respond as soon as possible. Thank you!
Hello, Pants that cover your skates are not reserved just for high level skaters. Their function is to protect the skates and the pants, as the fabric provides a tight fit to the leg and boot. This also helps keep your laces from getting in the way when skating. Yes, skaters that perform in competition do wear these pants to emphasise form to their coach and judges. However, some people wear these pants when practicing or skating recreationally. It is totally up to the individual and what makes them feel more comfortable when on the ice 😊 Hope this answers your question!
@@myskate3596 Okay, thank you much! This helps a lot! ❤
Hello! I just starting ice skating not too long ago I went ice skating a it’s my 5th time ice skating I know how to speed at an incredible speed and know how to do some spins without a coach and without anyone and it’s 1 hour ice skate time per week and this is my level I am 11 years old foot size 36 and 5 foot 40kgs I am into figure skating what do you think the best brand and ice skate I should use
Hi! I have wide flat feet. Which brand of skate would you recommend for my foot shape?
Jackson's may be ones to look at, but if you can try to get fitted
Thank you! Tomorrow is my first time ice skating and this rly helped!
How was ur first lesson
how was ur first lesson? Are you still skating now?
is antares equivalent to elle, in terms of stiffness and level? or elle is higher
The Elle and the Antares are of very similar stiffness ratings. As they are two different brands of skate, the stiffness won't be exactly the same; however, their stiffness rating is so similar that you likely would not notice the difference. Hope this helps :)
The superfeet insoles are pretty wide in the toe part can they be cut to fit into figure skates? Or should is just get the edea ones?
Hi, they can definitely be cut to fit around the front part. You just trace the outline of the existing skate insole around the Superfeet insole and trim with some scissors :)
Try moldable speedplate 2.0 from Bauer. I love them for everything. I sell many insoles at my shop and I prefer the moldable Bauer's. I where them in my Jordan's and cycle with them also The price is so cheap for a molded insole and you can remold as your foot changes throughout the year.
You can also easily trim to fit your figure boots
Est ce que avec les patins Venus on peut faire des pirouettes ?
Hi. I'm Simon form Poland and I use a Botas Cezar Figure Skates from Czech Republic
I don't have a pro shop to get fitted near me. I'm not tall but on the heavier side. Normal to wider foot. Which skate would you recommend? I can order them online and try them on
What if you are a men, adult, practicing figure skating? It's possible to wear leggings too? I saw them in figure skating grand prix (leggings, unitards and slim pants)
Hello, Mondor has great legging options for men! Of course, it's up to you what you want to wear on the ice, but there are plenty of leggings options for men :)
@@myskate3596 thank you 🙏👍
Of course you can!!❤
My child is 11, 80-90 pounds and has thin feet. She can do a waltz jump and is learning toe loop what skates should she get?❤
probably Jackson’s excels or mystiques !
Hi! I used to skate when I was about 12/13 and I had to quit when I was starting to do single jumps, I'm 27 now and I want to start again, I'm taking beginner lessons but I was wondering which skates where better for me, I live in México and I can't seem to find all the Jackson or Risport models, I'm 172 cm tall, I weight around 54 kg and I have narrow feet, which ones are better for me? The Jackson Excel JS1290 or the Jackson Artiste?
Hi Aida, Based off your needs, we would actually recommend a Risport Antares or Risport Electra for a narrow foot! A Jackson Elle or Jackson Freestyle would also perhaps be better than the Excel and Artiste. If you can find a proshop near you, they will be able to help you find the perfect fit! Hopefully this helps :)
I didn’t know I had to air dry my skates, next time I’ll take them from the car and air dry them :D tysm ❤
9/16 best cut ✂️ 👌 (for me 5'11 ,185lbs)
Hey, I want to ask you is there any difference between male and female figure skates, besides the color?
Hi Iavor, The colour is the main difference between the skates. Black skates that are listed as mens/boys use men's sizing, so you need to keep that in mind. For both black and white skates, you have the option to go for a narrow or wider fit, which means both men and women options can work for any skater. Hopefully this answers your question. Let us know if you need more clarification :)
@@myskate3596 Thanks! The main thing that I want to know is will there be a problem if men wears "women`s" skates? And from what you said men`s and women`s sizes are not exactly the same?
first and thanks
I’m 5’3 what size stick do I get
An Intermediate size would be the way to go for you Jhonny :)
Do you guys have the edea trolley backpack?
These aren’t even real tips they’re just trying to promote their tiny business 😂
ok lmao its actually a good shop, been there. Plus every famous skating shops will give you the same tips. Your just jealous they have a buisness bigger than you could ever make. I think you should shut up
What if I’m not in the same country and I want to purchase it online, can you help me please
Hello, We strongly encourage people to visit their local proshop to get their skates fitted. This way you don't run the risk of ordering skates that don't fit! However, you can view our online store following the links in the description of this video.

Im doing ice skating here on Sunday!
Not sure many new skaters are going to be buying $400-$500 skates. How about a video for legit beginners who aren't planning to spend over $1000 in gear to get out on the ice to play hockey for the first time.
Hello, Unfortunately ice hockey is an expensive sport to get into, but there's always second hand options for those on a budget. We will definitely consider a video on cost effective products for ice hockey and figure skating. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@myskate3596 Indeed it is. BUT there wont be many TRUE beginners who are going to be spending $500 on their first pair of hockey skates. BUT the X3.7 is $279 and a great place to start I think
@@EliteEventAZ very true 👍
If you had to use the skates, I first strapped on even the most basic entry models are light-years ahead of what I played with. For example, my super tacks from 10years ago are easily no match for an entry model by today's standards, but the materials have completely changed from leather to synthetics. Keeping it simple and on budget is not a terrible idea when your kids' feet are growing faster than the speed of light.
@@myskate3596bro it’s not expensive tho? U can go out there with cheap skates lmao from the olden days and be perfectly fine what are U on? What kinda of coach are u oh right your not
