New Red Sea REEFER 425 G2 & My Current 100 Gallon Mixed Reef Tank (Episode 1)
Very informative video. I learned so much. Just a quick quick question. I have a couple of Goniopora corals also in a 4ft tank but they don't open to the full extend like they used. They would sometimes closed and then reopen again. This happens everyday. And one them have its tips becoming black for a short time and becoming normal again. I think it may be a lighting issue. I have two AI Prime 16HDs and added a AI Hydra 32D with the last 2-3 weeks. The issues I am having existed before I added the Hydra. I don't know what par I have in my tank. I also run my tank at 10 dkH for alkalinity. BTW you have an awesome tank. You have motivated me to keep going in this hobby.
What light are you using and at what intensity
So you believe in putting your Ecotec circulators on the back of the tank how dose that work
i got red sea 90 how much persen for setup ? thanks?
awesome growth on those gonis, glad to hear and see the types of food that you are using
What program you running on your light I’ve got the same
Can you share the links to the items you used to make the DIY light mount
And the Barcardi left out the Barcadi most important element
Haha the most important!
Do they need to be put on bigger bases as they grow or will they continue to get bigger on the same plug or disk? Mine is currently on maybe a 2" disk and is starting to grow pretty good.
Wow! Where are your phosphates and alk?
Phosphates are between .05-.1 and Alk stays right around 8!
Nice interview. Cool to hear about someone pursuing their passion
Thanks!! And I agree!
Thank you for your videos very helpful you have a amazing reef tank excellent job 👏
Thanks so much! Glad I can share my tank!
Great video! If you don’t mind me asking where did you get your frag tanks? Love the setup!
Thanks! He got them from a wholesaler, but the best place to get frag tanks like this is probably Zoo Med Low Boys!
Nice eye candy!
Right!! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful tank! As I'm planning to buy a new tank I'm looking forward to hear about your experiens of the Red Sea line.
Planning on making a 1 year tank update with my thoughts on the Red Sea tank soon!!
Thanks for watching!!
Do goniopora close at night? Mines oretty much open 24/7
Most nights mine do retract and close mostly!
Some hobbyists say low to moderate lighting? Thats the first time ive ever heard that one! For flower pots? My understanding has been they need high amounts of light but not necessarily quite as intense as acros. (Shrugs) first time ive seen those on youtube. 👍
It’s so whack. Another tank with a bunch of dollar signs underwater packed too close together with no originality or character. Thor in AZ did the real Bonsai aquascape 20 years ago. Stores are just copying the look of Reef Culture too and their Elos tanks.
Where do you keep the power cords and blocks?
Taped and secured to the back side of the white cabinets! I like to keep them off the floor in case I spill water (which has happened plenty of times haha)!
Cool ❤
Thanks!!!
Hello. I subscribed to your channel today after watching a couple videos. I am researching a new tank set up. I want a Peninsula type tank to use as a room divider between my living room and dining area. I want to be able to view the tank from the living area and from the dining table. I have thought about this set up ever since we had the house built. I am finally in a position to make this a reality. Now I just need to find the right company to work with. I like those smaller cabinets. They accentuate the tank stand perfectly. Where could I get some?
122 degrees!?!? And I was complaining on how hot Texas was when I lived there. We would see days at of about 108 and run for days and weeks. But 122, wow. Does it stay hot at night too?
At night it can be in the 80’s and sometimes even 90’s!
Long time no c, looking good sir. I’m here in the valley as well.
Thanks for the support! Yeah life got a bit busy as I’m getting ready to start grad school in January! But I’ve got some great videos lined up for the next couple weeks🙌🏽🪸❤️
And happy to see an AZ local watching the channel!❤️
awesome some man! keep it up!
Thanks for your support ❤️
what rocks are those ?
Let me ask and I’ll get back to you!
u haven't answered me ? @@grandcanyonreefs
what are those ornaments ?
They are all corals!
@@grandcanyonreefs thank you for your replies. for example he has the scolys on a great frag stone. and at 4:37 he has some nice ornament that I feel in love with
Wowa beautiful tank!!!!!’
Right! Thanks for the support!
Your goniaporas look amazing I have a small frag and the polyps are open but they don’t extend far line yours even when I move it to different locations in the tank. Any tips?
Thanks! Stability is key! They like lower to medium light and pretty stable water parameters is what I’ve found!
I've had my first goni for just over a month or so and I can't seem to get it to fully open up like it was when I saw it at the store... I've moved it around the tank a few times but it's still in pretty high light I'll try to put it somewhere darker ... Max it'll open probablt 25-30 % ... Hasn't stopped my clown fish from hosting it though lol
Hmmm interesting! I'd say just give it more time and stability, thats what Goni's love! And I love when my clowns host them too, so cool!!!
When mine start doing poorly nothing I do turns it around Sometimes they’re good for a few months On the other hand I have several that are doing great and there’s no issues but the smaller frag ones I get always have issues for some reason
Hello ! beautiful tank ! What is your LED schedule ? :)
Thanks so much!! The ReefBreeder Photon V2+ peaks for about 5 hours at 9-9-85-43-85-85! But it’s also important to note my lights are mounted ~16” off the surface of the water! If your light is mounted at the more standard 10”-14”, I’d recommend around 7-7-70-35-70-70 for general LPS/SPS lighting schedule! That’s what I used to run it before I mounted my lights to the wall to raise them to the 16” point! Hope that helps some!!
I see you went for bare bottom , any reason 🤷🏻♂️
Wanted to be able to deliver as much flow to SPS as possible without blowing up sand! i have 2 gyres on the back bottom of the tank that just blow water underneath the rock work and sweep detritus to the overflow!
Where did you get the brackets for your lights? I love the way that set up looks.
Thank you! The brackets are shelf brackets from amazon! They are mounted into a 2”x6” wood board which is bolted into the 2”x4” of the wall!
What kind of salt do you use? Maybe it has a higher manganese content?
I use Two Little Fishies AccuraSea 1! Manufacturer claims it mixes at around 1300-1350 mg/l.
Where did you get those white cabinets from? Thanks in advance!
They are from Ikea! The brand is EKET and they are called ‘Cabinet with 2 doors and shelf, white’!
Does this shop do walk ins? I checked out their website and almost everything shows sold out.
They are constantly updating as new frags are made and heal! And I believe he actually just opened up a store front location in Cave Creek/PHX! But let me double check on those details!
What side cabinets do you have? Nice setup!

@@grandcanyonreefs awesome! Thank you
Great 👍 job did the same thing 5 months ago
Thanks!!!
Do you do water changes with goniopora coral
I personally do water changes every 6-8 weeks! And I’ll typically do 30% of the total system!
Appreciate the video! I’m JPHcustomcreation now Exquisite Reef aesthetics. I’ll be back in November with a lot more this time!
Thanks so much! And good to meet ya, I look forward to seeing you at the next show! 🙌🏽
Back when I had a reef, my Galaxy had the longest sweepers at night to keep everything else at bay.
Those things can be dangerous! 😱
very nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
man I've been out of the hobby for 10+ years. So much has changed. Glad to se such a good presence in Arizona now. Thinking about getting back into the hobby, but I have so much to learn.
A lot has changed but still the same fundamentals! Definitely worth getting back into, and feel free to reach out if you need any help or question answered!
Did yoy mention why you have no substrate?
I wanted to be able to have as much flow as I wanted, from many direction, and not have to worry about sand being moved or kicked up! I also wanted to be able to make siphoning detritus and fish waste effortless!
Where are you located? I'm in north Peoria getting ready to buy this exact same setup from Kona and wanna ask you some questions
I’m in Chandler! And heck yeah! Feel free to message me on instagram if you have any questions!!!
Привет, какие параметры no3 Po4?
I keep Nitrate between 10-20 and Phosphates between .05-.15 usually!
Great video, really loved Epic Aquaculture’s sps collection. Jesus’s coral collection is very beautiful!
Thanks 🙌🏽 And right! So many beautiful corals to chose from, I wish I had a bigger tank haha!
The torch in the middle looks like it's bleached.
Not bleached! Just had insane color morphs!
May I ask what’s your water chemistry?
I keep Alk at 11, Mag over 1500, Nitrate between 10-20, and Phosphates between .05-.15!
I knew a guy who used to literally cut the sweepers and they would take months to grow back but the coral itself did not seem effected in any way
Oh wow! I’ve never heard that before but super interesting to know!
