2023 and yes, very relevant. It’s saddens me that our tupuna fought for us, our grand parents, aunties, uncles and now our grand children ? And still we’re fighting the same fight. Why can’t we thrive ? These stories are soo deep it hurts .
sitting in jail listening to these sounds on my neighbours tv maori channel i learnt all the bob marley in te reo songs from ruia & ranea aswell best things to come from a dumb situation.
E koutou, e Te Aumangea, kei hea koutou hei āki I ngā hau kino o te wā, i te wao tapu nui a Tāne Urutapu ana, ururua ana Matomato ana te tipu mai o te kahikātoa o te tōtara haemata Nō te hinganga, tūpapahū ana te whenua Ka kore koutou kei hea he taunga Mō te manu kaewa Kurupākara ana tērā te māra a Tāne I te pekī, i te tīhau a ngā manu Kura kore nei i tiu, Kura kore nei i topa Kia pātai noa ahau Kei hea aku manu tīoriori Aku manu taki, aku manu tāiko I te kāhui e pōkaikaha nei Auē kia tīoriori noa mai ko te manu Kia kōkī, kia ketekete mai anō ko te kākā Kia kōrihi mai anō Ko te kōparapara I te pūaotanga o te rā Te tangi kau nei te mapu Tērā pea me kapo ko te mahara Me kapo ko te kupu Mā reira e tū anō ai he māhuri E tiu anō ai, e korihi anō ai Ngā manu o te wao Taku wahakura waikawa e Taketake i a Tāne, i te wharepora o Hine-te-iwaiwa He kōrari, he harakeke, maiohatia Katohia ngā tupuna, mahue te awhirito Hāpinea, haehaea, kia kōrahi, kia takatu Takoto te whakapapa Takitahitia ngā whenu Takitahitia ki ngā pito kia tū ai ngā taha e whā E waha nei i nga kura o te iwi e Taku Whare Kohānga e tū nei e… tāpiki.
Never forget the goosebumps and feeling of watching, Tomika, coming through the middle. He and Anaru, Rangiwewehi, had those karu going and just felt their ihi, wehi, and wana! Never forget those days my first time.
I just remember being blown away by Manutaki, especially Paora, and these two guys built like Conan the Barbarian. Manutaki, Te Waka Huia, Ngāti Rangiwewehi, and Nga Pumanawa were awesome!
When me n my sister's would stand in front of the kitchen window after our dinner and do all the Waka Huia songs miss them days...I so wish we were still in Kapahaka... #tekupenga

Man, it must of been a hard time back in the 90s. If 2023 politics is bad, I wonder what it was like back then.
