    I love how you have help and an audience when you cook.☺️💕 When we have a zucchini that big it's a "stuffer." The smaller zucchinis get sliced 1/4" and spiraled in a well oiled cart iron skillet. I season well with salt, dried herbs, granulated garlic and onion and when I have them I top with tomatoes. That gets broiled until it's "jammy" then I top with whatever cheese I have. It's soooo good. Thank you for sharing your beautiful day!❤

    Love this. We've taken on the same mindset with building our soil around our garden as our local dirt is very clay heavy. It is rich, but it is HEAVY haha. I do have some raised beds but as we expand our garden we're using more in-ground beds and the chop and drop to help mulch and build the soil. Do you know what variety of sunflowers those shorter ones are? I'd love some cut sunflowers for inside but all of mine are 10-15 feet up in the air lol. Still going to grow my giants, but a batch of shorter ones would be lovely. :) Thank you for sharing so much!

    • @wildwoodsandhomestead
      @wildwoodsandhomestead 16 дней назад

      This is really encouraging to read that you’re experiencing similar results with chop n drop on clay soil too! I should have used that term in my video but it escaped me🫠Sunflowers: my shorter ones are a pro cut florist variety. They are hybridized to not drop pollen. Unfortunately they only produce one sunflower, so not branching, but they make beautiful bouquets especially for fall weddings since they don’t drop pollen. Johnnys Seeds in the states carry’s these and on the Canadian side, WestCoast seeds has a few varieties. I love the large ones too! If you sprinkle plant your large ones they’ll grow smaller too for bouquets and I do this. I too love growing larger ones in more space though. My chickens enjoy the seeds in the fall. Thank you for watching ☺️

    • @wildwoodsandhomestead
      @wildwoodsandhomestead 19 дней назад

      @@kaycevictoria9947 that’s a great though☺️ and I think actually looks very pretty. Sometime I will share on video why we chose Wildwoods and Homestead but just briefly: we chose “wildwoods” since we live in the boreal forest with several “woods” or tree types whereas “wood” means a wood with one type. We chose to separate wildwoods and homestead because we purchased wildwoods that we are trying to tame and yet build a homestead on but finding that we have to work within the “wild” portion as we have limited resources and so the two interlink as we clear, build and garden. I hope that helps explain the name a bit and I will try to share it a bit better on a video soon☺️❤️

    Have you heard of making lye water with wood ashes for soap making? I hear the resulting soap can be rather harsh.🤷🏻‍♀️ I believe I read that in one of The Little House on the Prairie books. And I love that baby wrap. Makes for easy hands free smooches.😚😚😚💋💋💋😂🤣

      @@TheBereangirl yes! I actually can’t believe I haven’t mentioned that but yes, I’ve read a lot about pioneer soap making and I often think of pioneer women making soap with wood ash.
