Making A J33 Taper On An NMTB 40 Holder
This ended up evolving from what I expected to do to what I was forced to do. If I had a large diameter wheel with a very narrow width, I could have ground this. So I chose to turn it. It turned out beautifully, considering.

My somewhat histrionic review of a base whose name shall not be typed because I don't want them sending me stuff. :)
ER40 Taper Grinding On The Lathe (Part 1)

This ended up way longer than I thought it would. Hope it's not too long. Somewhere in here I mention being within a half tenth. I meant "half thousandth". Without spoiling it, I have a second attempt video coming soon. Stay tuned.

I took 105 clips over a period of around 3 years. But after uploading all the clips I discovered that youtube had just discontinued their editor. So until I buy some software, please try to ignore the stinking watermark.

I guess I need a gimble if I'm going to make videos. What's a little sea sickness.
Building a new trail

Sorry about the shaking and out of focus parts. I'm using an ancient camera. I'd like to give a shout to Durianrider who inspired me to start a high carb diet which gave me the energy to finally start doing shit again.
Thank you..worked 4 me. 😊
Ya I see this video is 5yo and I just did the same thing. I had to just grit my teeth and pry. If it breaks it breaks. Lol I wish I had found your video before I started.
Adorable! Great video. Thanks for sharing. Subbed your channel as well. Please upload more such vides. Keep rocking 👍
Should’ve put a rag or paper towel in between the glass and plastic.
Jajaaaaaaajaaaaaaaa muy bueno !
Those are some good birds giving you that warning. 🐦🐻🐦
Awww.... adorable. 🦌
Couldn’t you have pressed the crystal into the black ring?
No, it's not just a press fit. The crystal OD has to be decreased enough to get past a lip. It took me a while to figure that out.
1like, awesome vedio thanks for sharing.
thank you for the reply and thanks for making the videos , I'm trying to replace the crystal/bezel on my Starrett 25-441J and was wondering if you can help talk me through.. I'm watching your videos to see if I can get this done
sir, what is the model of Starrett indicator do you have there ?
It's a 25-341/5J.
What are you playing in the background?
Probably KXLU. But it could also have been a Melvins album. I don't know.
I could not figure out how to get mine apart! Clever design. Thanks for posting the video!
nice !
i read ur comment on morse vodeoz which was " I'm so ready for this. I've been sick 25 years, and studying for the last 6 months, after dropping all animal foods. I am thrilled that there is hope. I'm following the path. Ho w ru doing now ?
how ru doing now
It's a continuing upward slope of health. Cravings for the wrong foods are going away. But I still haven't gotten into the hard work of fasting and fruit only. If you really want to know more, look at the online pdf books by Arnold Ehret. Rational Fasting, and The Mucusless Diet. I wish you the best!
🥀🖤
please do an 'candid' asmr vid describing this stuff. very interesting
Beautiful forest.....lucky you...
Dropped mine recently. Window popped out, so I just pushed the bitch back in. Working great lol
I love your kind of nuts
Im here because "The server has rejected the file. "
What is the first tool? Or were you just joking because the second tool is way more aggressive? I'm new to this and sometimes the jokes go over my head.
I think the first one was a 1 inch. I pretty much do tiny work, so for some all of those are small. Haha
Very interesting. I love the end product! And it is true, some amazing pieces of engineering help to make life more bearable, especially when I am detoxifying on a higher level :)
G Kuljian fun to finally see what you look like. I have no real idea what you're trying to accomplish but interesting to watch you accomplish it. Reminds me of when my dad had to tap out old bolts in engines and then rethread the holes. I realize what you are doing is much more precise than anything we ever did.
Yay! I'm getting busy fixing stuff. Somewhere along the line I took the wrong path. Getting a degree in engineering knocked the life out of me for years. I am returning to my roots of making things and enjoying machinery. It's like getting my life back again.
Always follow your bliss G Kuljian. I believe that. Joseph Campbell was right that's what makes us human. That's how we really connect not money.
Beautiful, thanks for bringing us along to see the process
Thanks. My pleasure.
31 subscribers? I don't recall how I found you but I am really enjoying your videos! Thank you
Thank you! I'm just sitting here after a successful bezel replacement on a Starrett dial indicator. I'll be uploading that in a bit. Still can't believe I did it without destroying the thing.
G Kuljian beautiful, looking forward to seeing it
OMZ MATH!! And looks like some engineering thrown in for good measure. I'm terrible at math but I love to look at people discussing it. Hope you are doing well
Lisa! I'd be hard pressed to do calculus these days. I'm trying to get busy making and fixing things. I'm doing well. I'm on day 7 of a grape fast. I've never fasted, and it actually feels great. Hope things are going well with you too.
G Kuljian fun to hear your voice. Hope you understand if I don't make it all the way through the 45 minutes. What's the purpose of what you are milling on the lathe? Will it be part of something that operates in a productive manner? I am sure you're not just cutting a table leg.
Hi Pat! I'm taking a Chinese part and making it a little more refined. This is a chuck for the lathe. I'll be using it for general purpose small parts that don't fit in the regular chuck. All I can say is I've recovered from the shock of how old I look and the realization that I have mannerisms that I find irritating. It's great to see you again. Cheers.
What computer programme did you use to make it look like you filmed a TV screen?
Haha. It's called an old fashioned hand held camera. That's also why most of it's in black and white.
If you’re impressed with durian riders consciousness I highly recommend u watch NorVegans latest video on Harley.
I just read the comments, and it sounds like he lifted stuff from other people's work. I have to say I'm prejudiced in favor of Harley because he brought me out of eating animals. This could be bad. I spent 20 years looking for answers that he found right off. That's what I admire about him. Thanks for the heads up. I'm in this for the health, and world transformation. We'll see.
I am slow to catch on sometimes. I appreciate your comment. I'm not sure what to think at this point. I'm just listening to all sides. We'll see where this goes.
G Kuljian took me about 4 years to catch on 😊 there really is only one side... the side who have facts and proof. It’s a really good video series actually from part 1, it’s very interesting and pretty funny in parts. Don’t know why I’m commenting really, guess I still resent wasting my time listening to Harley for so long and wouldn’t want anyone else to do the same. That forest looks beautiful by the way 🙏
Thanks. Yeah, I found a pretty place to live. I'm looking for health and beauty and consciousness. Took me enough years. I was the healthiest person on earth. Then I got poisoned, and spent many years searching for help. So Harley was kind of my first love. Haha. He'll always have a place in my heart regardless of what happens.
G Kuljian all the best 😊
That was awesome! I'm thirsty!💦🌲💦
Nice arch! Have you seen the Mysterious Forest up north? Weird tree formations..pretty cool. Hey Gkuljian of the Jungle, watch out for that tree at 3:00!👁🌲👁. And btw, there's a fork in the road at 4:05😆
Jilly! Great to see you on my little channel. I never saw the Mysterious Forest. I spent much of my time roaming the hills around Carlotta and Scotia. I'm getting ready to make another video on the trail work I've been doing. It ends up being a lot more than I expected. It's a respite from dealing with the grunts on the political channels. Haha.
G Kuljian ha ha for sure! I just respited too, does exercise count if you are in the hammock? Also, I found a seed in my bush, lol #CommandoGorillaGardening🤣
It looks like a nice place to ride a horse
Hi! It's practically a vertical hillside in parts. The lower trail though, goes for miles. Once I'm back in shape again I plan whole day rides. Can't wait.
wow impressive!
AWE I love this. I decided to see if you had any videos and am glad I did! Since we seem to run into each other, LOL. My perpetual will love these as he's an avid outdoor person. I subscribed just now. I started a little goofy video series just on Saturday so PLEASE subscribe even if you don't want to, LMAO!! Take care. xo
Thanks! You're like the third comment I've had. I don't make many videos.
Thats cool, where do you live
Hey! Love your channel. I have a piece of property in Mendocino, CA. I like the whole idea of how you are bringing people together. We're so divided. Thanks.
Gkuljian, is that bear near your house? That nature is beautiful, including the bear! Thank you for sharing.
Hey! Yes, that's my front yard. I'm really enjoying the baby deer. I try to fit in, but they know us humans too well.
Zowie, wonderful! Thanks.
I love things like this. Glad you liked it.
Yay! Shed!!!!
Very nice lathe. Bit bigger than I need, but great for general workshop use. Thanks for posting. Cheers from Oz. Rob.
+xynudu It's a 14 inch swing. I had the same lathe in a 54 inch length, and it was worn in ways I didn't like, and a bit long, so I found a 36 inch machine, and took them both apart making one nicer one. Hey, I really like the use of the collet chuck in your videos. Another way that you think a bit differently. Now I'm inspired to do the same. Thanks! Gregg
Hi Gregg. Once you use a collet chuck you will never look back. They are just so good for some hard to hold jobs - particularly smallish items. Collets are overlooked by many lathe owners, probably because they think they are a specialised tool, which they are not. Just another form of chuck. Cheers Rob.
Hey Gregg, Keep it up. Pretty soon you will have a channel to play around with. Shoot a video on your Deckel mill showing the features and unique abilities. All the best, Tom
That's a giant property!
Must...have...shed!!!!!!
