    My Great Grandfather had a smoke house that was a 8x 10 shed with a stone floor. We built a very small fire on the floor and we sat up all night and took turns adding tiny amounts of wood.

    *Note: Hot smoking is not a long-term meat storage strategy - it is a meat cooking alternative, like grilling. It is a way to contract salmonella or botulism if not canned, frozen, or eaten right away. Salt-curing preserves meat for long-term storage. Cold smoking (85ºF) imparts flavor only to the meat.

    • @lodollar23
      @lodollar23 19 дней назад

      I though adding pink cure was the solution to this. Then bringing Temps up for final cooking.

      @@lodollar23 Hot smoking is a way to COOK meat, like grilling. It will feed you today and tomorrow, but should be used up quickly. For meat that will store for a year or more, it needs to be salt cured with curing salt #1 or #2 depending on if it will be cooked before serving. After salt curing for 60 to 90 days, it can be cold smoked (85ºF) for four to eight hours to add flavor. As long as the outside surface doesn't get broken, you can hang it in your root cellar for a good long while.

    Hello. My 2018 45a shuttle is stuck in forward position and will not move to neutral nor reverse. I have disconnected the shift lever from under left side floor board and tried moving plate shifter that goes into the transmission housing with my hand but it's not moving. It feels like it is stuck and not shifting. Any idea what's going . Thanks

    That´s a really nice smoker! A question, if you open up the vent in the back of the smoker, doesn´t that increase temperature because of more draft? 🤔

    • @sunsetskyfarm
      @sunsetskyfarm 2 года назад

      It actually allows heat to escape out the back so the temp decreases as long as the vent on the oven and the door is closed. If it was open it would cause the draft(upward pull) so it could end up making it hotter. Our experience is that it quickly releases heat lowering the temp. We have a video showing how we use the smoker. I think Will talks about it more there. Thanks!
