Excerpt from Cinema dell'Impegno: Sacco e Vanzetti (The Ballad of Sacco and Vanzetti) (folk singer Dulce Pontes). Verona 22nd August 2013.
The greatest thing about this film is the sublime Henry Mancini score, as impeccably evocative of the glamour and high drama of Hollywood's Golden Age as Joan Crawford herself. ❤❤
As Usual,. She has the Last Word..... DOES SHE? Even the Lawyer had that 'Oh Snap' look!
Christina told the truth about Joan Crawford and how she really was and she made alot of money even her movie Mommie Dearest made her alot more money and Joan Crawford was an evil woman who left her children nothing. Sounds like something Madonna would do to her children leave them nothing and Christina saying Jesus Christ.
Thanks for sharing these charming titles for a very likeable movie. (Wayne Fitzgerald and David Oliver Pfeil were the designers.)
It was heart griping when she said at the end before the furnel i love you mommie dearest
thanks for posting this; a great theme by Henry Mancini-- I recorded this show on my audio cassette recorder back in 1978! The closing credits featured this same tune but the CBS announcer talked over it!
RIP David McCallum (1933-2023)😢
Fabulous theme song !
I hate all those who criticized Christina Crawford for telling the truth, even back then, child abuse wasn't much of a concern as it is today.
i think she told mostly the truth, Joan definitely had issues but Christina beefed it up a bit to guarantee sales on the book. can't blame her, nasty Joan didn't leave her a cent.
The old days of a all star casts in miniseries . Ya got to love it
Wonder how many films took second billing in after this one?
Susanna Rigacci Rainha da voz 🇧🇷♥️🇧🇷♥️🇧🇷♥️
Because no one arrested Joan knowing what she was doing.
You cut out my favorite TV logo.....
THIS WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL MUSIC USED IN THE MAIN TITLE THEY CHANGED IT ABOUT 25 YEARS AGO.
this musiiiiiiiiic🔥🔥🔥
They chose the perfect still shot of David McCallum for the end credits.
I've been thinking about this: It was always funny when the TV announcer said, "The Invisible Man will not be seen tonight, in order that NBC may present the following program." Of course The Invisible Man wouldn't be seen, because he's INVISIBLE!
Guzel
Love it. I was born 1980. Got this on dvd now. I used to act out the scenes as a kid with my gloves and balaclava for the mask. I don't mind seeing the strings at times, they were great story's. Just like seeing the strings on the thunderbirds was a part of enjoying it. Noticing some actors in it from 'Columbo' 'the Waltons' and also 'Mork and Mindy'. Dr Weston was a VERY clever-looking character. Enjoying the dvd very much.
I wonder for those who read the book and seen this movie the second it came out, what was your reaction to see how Joan was off screen?
As someone who has read the book and watched this film, the movie made Joan into a campy mess. While the abuse described in the book was worse (verbal, emotional, and physical) the way Faye portrayed Joan in this film almost seemed as if her and the director were undecided if the film was supposed to be a dark comedy or actual drama. The tone of the book was darker, sad, and nothing to laugh about whatsoever.
@@1958mlvc agree. the audience i saw it with back in the day laughed more at Faye chewing up the scenery, even before the film got it's camp reputation I thought Faye was waay over-the-top
2:21-2:25 ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I feel like the only living person who remembers this tune! It appears to have vanished from all living record.

I've always remembered it, even when it's 40+ years ago since I saw an episode.
My god even Helen Hayes was in this
I was a kid when this came out but I always remember Christopher plummers character Roscoe jumping off the building at the end
I used to love this show

Notice Faye's last name in the ending credits where it says who was the production companies behind this?
Como assim ?
@@kauanamaral1654 Speak English.
You can still see her eyes during the credits
Not really. It is a slow fade to black.
I saw this movie for the first time in 1976. Many good feelings for history and music... I can't forget it...
Listen to this with earbuds and see how you like it. I 💕 it.
Such an underrated film. This ending gives me chills every time. That music is so hauntingly beautiful.
I love the music by the same guy who wrote the Pink Panther theme, but the film sucked shit.
@@sha11235 What's wrong with the film?
It’s fitting of Joan, elegant and graceful but strong notes. Hollywood isn’t that magical, brilliant, and talented these anymore, Joan amongst many other brilliant actors made Hollywood what it once was, a Hollywood of royals.
@@Whoa802 Who wants to watch what Joan does to Christina? Also, the scenes don't make narrative sense, like when Christina goes to that school. One scene later, she checks out. What happened?
@@sha11235 great music but the film was all over the place jumping from well played scenes to over-the-top camp. Faye Dunaway's career never recovered.
This is NOT the original main title music. The REAL original main title music has been replaced by this cue entitled BIRD BRAIN from later in the film. The original music is only on the original video releases of this film on ALLIED ARTISTS Video and the KEY VIDEO (CBS>FOX). It's a mighty shame as the original main title is as somber and beautiful piece as Mancini ever did. It inspired Diana Krall to record the piece with it's lyric on an album of hers.
Well, I just dug up my DVD, and this is the main title music on it. I originally saw the picture on The Late Show, circa 1975, and can no longer remember what the opening title theme was like, but something somber would definitely be more appropriate to such a heartbreaking story. From Italy. The italian release have this tune in the beginning.
@@gianca60 esatto, ho il film registrato da me su un vecchio VHS e questo è il pezzo che apre i titoli del film
I first heard the theme from Soldier in the Rain in 1966 on an album by Les and Larry Elgart. The LP is entitled Warm and Sensuous. It's one of the most beautiful and emotional songs I ever heard, and it's haunted me for years. When I finally saw the movie on DVD several years ago, I was disappointed to find this theme wasn't anywhere in the film. Why they would replace it is beyond me, but it takes away from the quality of the film. I can't find the Elgart version on RUclips, but there is a version from the composer, Henry Mancini, and another version from the Mystic Moods Orchestra. I would leave links here, but RUclips would probably not allow it, so you'll have to search them in the search box. The music is definitely worth hearing.
The song "Soldier In The Rain" by Henry Mancini is in the final scene of the movie. At the beginning of the film there is "Bird Brain".
“I guess mom got the final word...again.” “...Did she?”
And she didn't, because Christina wrote the book that inspired this film.
sha11235 Yep! And I’m so glad Christina wrote the memoir-exposé of her mother Joan - and revealed the hateful, abusive, mean-spirited BITCH she truly was.
@@TheGreekPianist The book was better than this film. I was mesmerized by it. Read it in almost one sitting.
Christina Crawford was a spoiled brat
She and her brother were abused.
Kyle Rainey No she wasn't...she had a rich mother, yeah, but she was treated like shit by her.
Julie Ede Very very people know that Joan adopted two other children Cathy and Cindy who said that Christina’s story was complete shit And as a result they have not spoken to their foster sister in years
Joan Crawford was an abusive, alcohol-addicted narcissist who adopted children to get some good publicity for herself. She was a horrible mother and a spiteful b*tch.
do you think that justifies physical and mental abuse?
Nope. Christina had the final word. She wrote the book and made her money.
That's the point of the final line.
after all the abuse she had put up with from her mommie dearest, she deserved to have some money.
And she (Christina) earned every penny of it.
That's the point.
I don’t understand why supporters of Joan Crawford didn’t even freaking believe her. I believe her. When someone is abuse, you need to believe them. Unless they admitted they lied.
Ding Dong! The bitch is dead! Which old bitch? That fucking bitch! Ding Dong! Joan Crawford's finally dead! I hate that fucking Joan. If she were my mom, I'd probably be in prison for murder right now.
Joan Collins was stunning in this
nwlman one of her greatest roles
Class but in this day and age I can't seem to locate the OST CD anywhere......Nightmare!
Would that there was an original soundtrack released of this with the original main titles music that was really there. It's my favorite Mancini theme in its' original form for solo trumpet/flugelhorn.
It would have been awesome if Blue Oyster Cult's Joan Crawford played during the ending credits
I like this music. Best thing in this shit film.
Was that done before or after this film came out?
Perhaps if Paramount was able to really play along with the film's newly-minted camp status, that song would have been dynamite. But either the producer or the director felt they had made a serious movie about child abuse & convinced Paramount to withdraw the new ads they had already released.
But Kirk is still with us at 100!
.. yeap.. and still he is... on his road..!!
Henry Mancini, Alan Silvestri and Mike Post sure composed some fantastic TV themes. A shame there is no extended version of this intro.
This must be from a PAL transmission or disc, judging by the pitch.
Hi, do you have any clips of this series, please?
Hello there. I don't have any other clips, but the series is now available on DVD.
My word, all the comments on James Shigeta, and yet no one mentions, until now, the actors Roger Bowen and Woodrow Parfrey. Both of them are gone and both had very varied and successful careers. I am sure their parts in this teleplay were well played and crucial to the scene, or scenes, in which they appeared. My hat's off to them.
is there an extended version of this? can't seem to find it
Rab, there was no commercial release for this theme unfortunately.
+Damian McGowan it's just so soothing when it's played in the background during each episode apart from the pilot. It's a shame it lasted only one season it appeared to have so much potential to become a successful series.
Thank you so much, Damian, for posting this video. Good Times!
Thanks for sharing. I loved this show!
I think one off the artworks seen near the end of this video is a picture of the Century Plaza Tower II with a jetliner flying too close to the complex. This eerily seems like a reminder -- or prediction -- of the events of 9-11.
That is really sinister!
'The Moneychangers' is what a great, great popcorn entertainment television should be. Excellent casting (particularly Christopher Plummer as the antagonist/villain, Susan Flannery's smart and sensual lady friend of hero Kirk Douglas' character, and Robert Loggia's gleamingly thuggish Tony Bear), and a fast-paced sexy and enthralling storyline about banks, money, and finance. Puts similarly That's Entertainment television these days to shame.
Awesome.... Film and music...
UBZUKKI Totally. i looked for the movie score online, it was $50!!! i still want it thouugh but am gonna hunt for a free version online first.
The movie sucked, but this music at the end is very good.
