Of all the types of exercise I have done nothing compares to how the final hand form of the hung kuen kung fu makes you feel. It's an internal form that promotes health, vital energy and strengthens the the body. I am very rusty, but I have been adding it to my daily routine. This is faster then normally do it,but none the less, I feel damn good today.. I am a direct student of Sifu YC Wong.

    enjoyed! First time on video that I've really heard the breathing techniques during Fu Hok! I always enjoyed going to SF for dim sum growing up..cherished everytime being able to peek into YC Wong's school on Sacramento...always wanted to learn Hung Ga from him...contacted Sifu Kurtis not long ago inquiring about online learning.

    That sounds super relatable. I am at the Kung Fu Zentrum Karlsruhe since 2008. Had almost same experience 5 years ago or so. Last 2 years were all about healing, so calisthenics and very basic exercises. Today my back is not completely Heald, but I have less pain. So right now I'm able to do calisthenics, Kung Fu, I even signed up for a dance class and a MMA class once a week. And I go swim once a week. Overall feeling great, but there are exercises I cannot do like rope skipping, jumping or lion dance. In MMA or sanda I really have to watch out for throws and spar very carefully. But overall I'm very happy with the results. I'm very happy to find a guy here on RUclips of all places who has a similar injury similar Story. Since we both started with hung gar. I'm very happy and inspired to see that you are coming back to greater form!!! Greetings from Germany!!

    I was one of those kids on stage in 1968! Great memories! Even though I didn't speak Chinese, my father was there for every class at the old Clay St. basement. No air, hot, sweaty Kung fu with a great master. I owe a lot of my Martial Arts success to this man and still give credit and pay homage to this great Grand Master! My most memorable experience with Wong Sifu is when I went into open competition at Sid Campbell's World Expo Championships at the Oakland Coliseum. I made it into the evening finals besting out July and May Castro. I was going up for Grands and Wong Sifu and Shek Kien who played Mr. Han in "Enter the Dragon" were 2 of my judges. At scoring, Wong Sifu gave me a perfect score of 10 and Kien Sifu (yes he is a real Sifu) gave me a 10! Sorry Eric Lee, but I got you that night! Thank you Sifu for all of those years of patience, kindness, and guidance. and thank you for letting me introduce "free sparring into the kwoon. Grand Master Brian Kula Fung

    The foot stomp in pretty characteristic of the Pek Kwar style. In all the hands set we do (from Ken Dak Hoi lineage) has them. Though to be honest I have only seen our school and few others do the hand sets. I am not sure if the Monkey King teaches them anymore. It seems like their focus is more monkey then the axe hand nowadays. If you have any of the hand sets on film I would love to see them!

    FYI< to clarify, the version I learned and am referencing to this form being a "northern form" was taught to me by my Sifu, who was taught by Grand Master Kwam Wing Lam in California. You can look up Wing Lam Enterprises for further information, but apparently I can't post web addresses. He also has a RUclips channel. :D

  • @TheMadMaxamillions
    @TheMadMaxamillions 11 лет назад

    Pek Kwar Darn Do is a Northern Shaolin Temple form. It's not part of the Hung Gar system, although there's no reason for your Sifu to have not taught it to you if he felt you were ready, it's a wonderful Northern form typically associated with the Gu Yu Cheong system (which includes Tun Da, Moi Fa, Sik Fot, etc). This version is definitely "modified", but there are -of course- different interpretations (the form deviates from what I learned at 15sec in at the stomp).

    Well the great thing about the internet is the ability to remove trolls whose only desire to start crap and talk bad about others. I have always believed that if you have even decent kung fu, you don't need to tear others down and talk crap. Any low class, low skill people with poor self-esteem do that. Shame as from what I know about your Sigung was the he was one of the nicest guys in Hung Kuen. Goodbye Jing Chung, you are now blocked from my channel. Best of luck to you.

    I have seen several version of this set personally. Each clearly has a different feel. For instance, those that come directly Lam family look more southern. Some have more of northern flavor. I know for sure that at least the Chan hon Chung branch has a version of this though I have never seen it in total.

  • @yogicmotion
    @yogicmotion 12 лет назад

    It is from the Pek kwar tai shing system as taught by Ken Dak Hoi. My Sigung and him were very good friends. I am not sure when it was introduced to the hung gar system, but this particular version is for sure from the Lam family. I do know that other lineages do teach it. Their flavor is different however and looks different. I learned it from My Sifu Yc Wong. I think (not sure) that my Sifu learned it from Ken Dak Hoi directly.
