Louie Does a Thing
Добавлен 19 май 2020
Louie and friends do all sorts of things, like trying new foods for the first time, fixing broken electronics, traveling (once this pandemic is over!), making food, building LEGO, driving cars, talking about movies & TV shows, exploring the quirks of their own (and other) cultures and whatever else strikes their fancy.

London Christmas Lights Tour in a 1973 Mini
While my sister and I were in London, we took a tour of many of London's amazing Christmas light displays in a 1973 Mini called "Jules". Our driver, Chris, was lots of fun and shared so much knowledge and trivia about the various areas we were passing through during the tour.
This video includes excerpts of our tour with all parts taken out when we weren't near any Christmas lights.
If you're a fan of London or if you just love seeing Christmas lights in one of the greatest cities in the world, settle in and ride along with us to some lofi Christmas music.
I apologize for the jumpiness of the video in part but older Minis aren't exactly known for having the smoothest ride haha....

1:04 not "russian"😭
Packaging is in English because these products are made for export. On products sold in Ukraine, usually only the warehouse and the place of manufacture are written in English (in Ukrainian, of course, as well).
Wow, 3 years ago. It's amazing that youtube suggested this video to me now
That isn't a sandwich, that's toast and bacon and toast and sausage.
Hmm, pretty sure the definition of "sandwich" has nothing to do with whether or not the bread is toasted...thanks for watching!
@@LouieDoesaThing I'm only from the UK where sandwiches were invented and toasted sandwiches is not the norm, If we were to order a bacon sandwich and it was served toasted we'd look at the vendor as if they were wearing horns. There is a difference between a bacon sandwich/buttty roll and bacon Bacon on toast and a Bacon Toastie And if ordered in a UK cafe the distinction would be recognized, What you've made is toast and bacon nobody in the UK would serve that as a sandwich or butty. You are supposed to be trying UK food, if you aren't interested in authenticity then don't bother.
@@24magiccarrot You may want to read some of the other comments, where even a few people from the UK have said they toast their bread AND where I have acknowledged, many times in appreciation, that we didn't make it correctly and that I appreciate learning how to make it the right way. However, that's making a sarnie / butty the right way. You used the word sandwich...which is any filling between two pieces of bread or toast or on a roll or bun, or even something put between two crumpets...those are all sandwiches, even if they're not a proper butty / sarnie.
Roshen sweets are the worst quality, as a Ukrainian i hate Roshen made ones
Regarding brands, there loads of them in Ukraine but not all of them are exported, mostly they're produced to be consumed within Ukraine. However, Roshen (that is owned by the fifth president of Ukraine, and it's pronounced like [Roh-shÁnn]) is one of the brands that are widely available abroad. As you see, even the packaging design is translated in English.
Yes, I did think it was curious that it was in English...thanks for the info and thanks for watching!
@@LouieDoesaThing Sure! The etymology is simple - Mr. President's name is Petro Poroshenko, and he named the company Roshen. Obviously, the variety of sweets in Ukraine is much larger, especially if you visit a Roshen store in major cities like Kyiv, Lviv, or Vinnytsia that also features one of the biggest floating multimedia fountains in Europe - the Roshen fountain. The cakes and chocolate candies are freshly made and fantastic. They're incomparable to packaged sweets with longer shelf lives. Or take chocolate butter - that’s a taste from my childhood: 80% fat butter made from milk with cocoa powder. It's the perfect spread for toast - not too sweet, creamy, and very chocolatey. There are so many other delicious foods, not only factory-made but also in restaurants like Restauracja Baczewski in Lviv, 100 years back in future in Kyiv or Dacha in Odesa. I highly encourage you to visit Ukraine and try them yourselves - it’s a whole new world of gastronomic tourism.
The last candy should be eaten differently. You shouldn't immediately bite into it, but you should suck it. Then, over time, acid will start to come out through the hole and form bubbles in your mouth. The taste of the acid will mix with the taste of the sweet shell and you will not feel such a sharp shock.
Yes, thank you...we have similar candy here, but for the video, we didn't want to take all that time haha. Thanks for watching!
such a great video! hello from Ukraine! 🇺🇦
Thank you and thanks for watching!
It was interesting to watch :) As a Ukrainian, I have never seen Polus Wafer Bar, and I do know where guys got it, haha. Anyways, I can related to all reactions, especially for jelly candies - it's hard not to become addicted to them :)
Yes, those jellies were very good!
Is the Potata not spicy enough? 😂 It hasn't be spicy i guess it's just snacks for beer...
I don't remember...too long ago now haha. Thanks for watching!
These really should have had an egg on them, but hey, you got the proper bread, butter and real HP sauce. Nice!
Oooh, egg on those sounds really good, thanks!
@@LouieDoesaThing oh and it's good to know you can get British style bacon and sausages too.
@@SgtSteel1 Yes, the sausages in particular are not as good as what you can get in the UK, but it's something I suppose :)
@@LouieDoesaThing I don't know, some of those sausages in the US look pretty good.
Nice to see this thanks
It’s not been mentioned that it is called a “Butty “ because the bread is “ Buttered “
You don't toast the bread!!!!
Hmm, I feel like I've heard that before ;) Thanks for watching!
Stop with the HP! Gosh! HP has a strong flavour so it doesn’t need as much, which is why it squirted at you.
Australia always uses butter too, it’s a textural thing plus it adds flavour, no matter the filling.
Smoked back bacon is better, slice some tomatoes and fry in the pan with the bacon (tomatoes take a little longer). Why buy the stuff and then ignore how to cook it .. live a little put a little oil in the pans. Add some fried onion into the sausage sarnie. Also just sausage and mustard in a sarnie is great. Good job cooking the bacon .. just the right amount of caramelisation (do that to the tomatoes as well). If it's bacon I toast the bread, if it's tomatoes I don't. Love your sons ability to try something he's never had before what a champ.
I have from that day forth! Thanks for watching!
Butty is a particularly Northern name for what we in the South just call a sandwich
Haha I love it. Thanks for watching!
Yes we have them and yes we bloody love them 😍😍
I mean how could you not?! They're so good!
@@LouieDoesaThing there my go to everytime
Its nit british to toast bread for sandwich
Fun fact that most Americans don't know is that A1 sauce actually came from the UK. It fell out of favour in the 70s with us.
That is interesting! Thanks for watching!
Americans overdo everything hence the amount of sauce - it’s in their nature to consume more than they need. Strange for a country with record food bank usage. These middle class Americans will never of given a cent to charity in their lives
They did not invent the scotch eggs they were created to protect the eggs on long sea journeys to prevent them rotting the original scotch eggs did not look like today’s ones they just had a covering of meat
I think the breadcrumb coating was a good idea, whoever came up with it! Thanks for watching.
You do realise that fortnum and mason is for rich snobs
I respectfully disagree. They have plenty of things that are not very expensive there. Obviously it will be pricier than a Tesco or Sainsbury's, but they also have some unique things there. Plus, I feel it's a nice experience just to walk through and look around, even if you don't buy anything. And it's not just rich snobs who can do that :)
Even better with a fried egg on both.
I do love a fried egg on a sandwich. Thanks for watching!
That’s offensive to say it’s the best chocolate galaxy chocolate comes in second to Cadbury chocolate that is miles better than
Haha, all I know is at the time, I thought it was pretty delicious!
Honeycomb is not made from honey it’s made from sugar which is cooked and bicarbonate of soda is added to it when it hardens it becomes honeycomb
Thanks Karen and thanks for watching!
Try it with bacon and egg with a sprinkling of grated cheddar... you can imagine 😊
I sure can...yum! Thanks for watching!
The Netherland is the Netherland holland is a differend place in the Netherlands
Yes, thank you!
Wow this is 3 years old!
Yeah, you should see Enzo now haha he looks totally different.
@@LouieDoesaThing I got grey in my beard didn't 3 years ago!
@@pdcookstar I feel your pain!
Always baffled Americans don’t know what honeycombe is ?
There aren't any mass-market honeycomb sweets here in the U.S. Trader Joe's has some chocolate-covered honeycomb that they sell sometimes, but again, there isn't a mass-market product here. Thanks for watching!
Where's the fried egg?
Hmm, good question! Thanks for watching :)
A British sandwich is cut diagonally in half so it’s a triangle. Way too much butter and sauce but it looked tasty.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
More you try it more you find how you like it .not usually toasted (bit drier but with crisp texture (bite) hot meat melts butter on bread and taste good providing you dont leave it too long as the under side gets soggy. And you will have your own preference to the sauce and amount that you like
Definitely true, thanks so much and thanks for watching!
These weird concoctions have no resemblance to a bacon butty and a sausage sarnie. When it says use oil, USE OIL, or preferably lard. And don't serve it on bread not toast.
Yup we had a lot to learn there. We've made them "the right way" since then. Thanks for watching!
That is now a sauce sandwich with a bit of bacon. You drowned it
Yeah, it was definitely too much! Especially in my eye!
@@LouieDoesaThing happend to me too
@@Rocky19577 Oh dear. I hope you've fully recovered!
We dont toast the bread for a traditional sandwich. We call that a toasted sandwich or bacon on toast
Thanks Rocky, and thanks for watching!
We fry our sausages in oil because it stops them squirting sauce in your eye , 😊 .. Good to see your boy stuffing his face uk style
Oh, sure, NOW you tell me! Thanks so much for watching!
Back bacon is infinitely better when cooked under the grill than in a frying pan and i actually feel like most brits don’t even realise that. But anyone reading this.. next time.. do your bacon under the grill, you’ll never go back
When you say "under the grill" do you mean in the oven? Or on an grill (what we would call a BBQ grill here in the U.S.)? Thanks for watching!
@@LouieDoesaThing What we (,correctly) call the grill... You call the broiler!!
@@brigidsingleton1596 So I've made bacon in the oven before, but never under the grill / broiler...will def try that. One of the things I don't love about cooking it in the oven is that it takes too long, but I'll bet it's pretty quick doing it the way you suggest. Thanks again.
@@LouieDoesaThing You're welcome. A hint to aid cleaning: If a layer or two of aluminium (aluminum) foil is placed _in_ the grill pan but _under_ the grill rack, and turned up _slightly_ around the edges, it helps to catch the melting fats, and can be easily and quickly discarded on the point of the fats solidifying, making it so much easier to clean after use, instead of having to wipe out the fats with lots of kitchen paper, or sponges!! 🏴😏🇬🇧
@@brigidsingleton1596 Yes, I do the same thing...anything to make cleaning up easier haha
Don’t toast the bread!
Thanks for watching!
Why???water in the sausage pan!!
Did I explain why in the video? I don't remember (it's been a while). We don't cook sausages in oil here because they've already got enough fat. I put the water in because I was going to cover them so they would steam cook and not dry out. Thanks for watching!
I'm from the Manchester United kingdom how can I send you some of our weird snacks
I wish it was easy / inexpensive to do, but unfortunately it isn't so much. Post some of them here, if you can...we may have tried them already or I might be able to get them from somebody who imports them. Thanks...and thanks for watching!
@@LouieDoesaThing I'll rustle some stuff together and upload soon😎
I live in Manchester, U.K. and growing up my high school did a breakfast club and I had some of my best sausage on toast, bacon on toast, sausage balms (rolls), bacon balms (rolls) I’ve ever had from those wonderful dinnerladies. All very inexpensive too (this was 90s early 00s) What a great way to get us in school and started for the day. Your attempt definitely looked the part - just a pity you can’t get Oven Bottom Muffins over in the states as they are the best way to enjoy a “sausage sarnie” imo.
"Oven Bottom Muffins"?! I must research this...sounds delicious! Thanks for that and thanks for watching!
Never use water. Wtf is that lol, the sausages and bacon have plenty of fat to fry themselves in. Especially that awful American Bacon. It's just pure fat with some crappy meat attached.
American / streaky bacon is very, very tasty...it's just different than British / Irish bacon. Both are great, though. Thanks for watching!
You did a fantastic job. Most people don't toast their bread first, it's optional, make it how you like it. Looked delicious. With love from the UK.x
Thank you so much...I've gotten so much feedback on this I may have to do another version one day soon haha. Thanks so much for watching :)
@@LouieDoesaThing Please do
So we've been told (although a number of people in here say they toast the bread as well). Thanks for watching.
