Great Divide Mountain Bike Route - GDMBR 43 days Banff, Canada - Antelope Wells, New Mexico 2 provinces, 5 states
Great summary. I'm debating between doing this on a Diverge (like your bike) or a hardtail mtb, like a RM Growler. Thoughts on how that Diverge treated you?
Great video! I rode Canmore to Pie Town, then over to El Paso and into Ciudad Juarez August-October 2021. Lots of familiar scenes - Llama Lady’s ranch, Goldie’s place in Abiquiu, Toaster House in Pie Town…. Every day was hard, but every day was good. I tell people it was 75% physical and 75% mental. Definitely a lot of Type II fun! And a great feeling to pack the bike into the car at the end of the trip. What’s next?
Well done my friend! Thanks for sharing!
Love that you shot this on your iPhone. Thanks for sharing.
Really well done video in every way. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent soundtrack.
Great Video. Actually the GDMBR starts in Jasper, the Tour Divide starts in Banff. You can start the GDMBR in Banff, but it's technically not the start of the full route.
Definitely not a trail to ride a non-suspension recumbent trike.. LOL. My dream is to see a parallel paved path, so that the rider can choose a smooth riding paved path, or jump off and fight the trenches, deep potholes and 18% climbs of an expert mountain bike rider.. I want equal access as a disabled rider, and a side path would provide that.
Really nice vlog of the GDMBR. Minor correction: At 9:47 that’s Boreas Pass out of Breckenridge, not Indiana Pass.
It's amazing that Laclan Morton did this in 12.5 days.
Congrats on the Bull... the video was nice! We are hunting Unit 52 this October and can't be more excited....
One of the best bikepacking videos ever. Great choice of music as well. I loved it.
Did the 45c tires prove adequate? Would you use something different if there were to be a next time?
Once again a very good video. :)
hi ,what is your tire size ?
45's!
What size tires
Awesome. Thank you. One of the best I’ve seen and I have seen plenty. A really fun watch.
What was your favorite part of the trip? I’m starting it tomorrow morning with the Central Oregon Backcountry Explorer thrown in to the mix.
Crooked river was pretty darn cool! Goodluck out there Seth. Soak it up
What is the C.O. backcountry explorer? I'm from Bend, will a quick google pull that route up?
So cool!!
Can you tell me what time of year this was?
So cool to see what you guys experience! Looking forward to seeing bikepackers in a few months at the hostel!
sweet video! I'm planning on doing it this summer on a gravel bike. Do you mind sharing what size tires y'all were running? and around what time of the year you started riding? Thanks! Happy trails (:
One Hell of adventure !!! Congrats mate
I rode the Great Divide from end of August till the beginning of October and it was a dream. Thanks for this video, the work and taking me back there... salut!
awesome video Ravi ) This Kristinas cousin if you didnt recognize. 😅
@dimakonax Dimaaaaaaa 💪🏻
Fantastic video, music complemented it beautifully ! Congrats finishing this epic route. What Profile Design model are those aerobars? I couldn`t find a bar with a matching upsweep on their site 😅
Hey Elisa! They are a pretty old set of aerobars so I don’t think they make them anymore. Definitely recommend the risers you can purchase on Amazon that fit most any aerobar to get them up higher
@@ravialmeter2364 okay, get that. Will look into these, thanks for the reply👍
Hi beautiful video. Question- how did you follow the route? On your GPS or phone? Where did you download the route from? Thanks!
Excellent ride and movie. Congrats!
厉害!!!
Bravo 👏👏👊🏻👊🏻👍🏼👍🏼
Did you guys experience leg cramps, and if so how did you cope them, ie magnesium electrolytes, we are the bomb and it never happened? Any Advice greatly appreciated. Ps I'm 6'7" any suggestions on bike for this adventure? My roadbike is a Rivendell 68 cm 80s design style, but modern steel lugged frame.
Hey Jake, I’m 6’6” and rode a specialized diverge 64. Pushed it on the tire clearance but made it work with 700x45’s. Food was always the challenge (weight/calories) but keeping emergency tailwind and gu products helped. The northern hot days required more electrolytes. Hope you can get out there!
Great video, one of the best GDMBR vlogs I’ve seen. Thank you for posting it.
Ride safe Master
Awesome adventure! That ride is on my bucket list! Thanks for taking the time to share it with us! Cheers!
Thank You! My plan is to start in Banff also. I may complete in 2 rides but then again the start is at 64 years old. I may just finish in 1! Awesome music choices.

Excellent video. Great sights. Thank you for posting
Excellent video
Lining up a song about West Virginia while showing a western state is pure laziness.
I love watching these videos right before I do a long extended bike ride.. reminds me of why I'm doing it
Great video the music was definitely appropriate will be downloading some of that actually for my bike ride
Fascinating! It's an awesome experience to share. Warm greetings from The Special Territory of Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
IMAGENS FANTÁSTICAS PARABÉNS!👏👏👏👏👏
Great video! Really well done!
Awesome video. Your video inspires me to do it. Hopefully soon.
Awesome, classy video! Thank you!
Your wife is a blessing to you, and she is an inspiration. She should be an inspiration to other women who have a good husband like you, and who would want him to go off, and do some thing so profound to travel from Canada to Mexico. She truly is one of the few women that sees value and you doing this. So I’m thinking her role I want you to do this because we good to see an extraordinary video that was really quite moving. And if you don’t mind me asking, where is it that you folks live? I don’t mean exactly I mean to have such a question, but I’m just curious.
Great video with some awesome music!
Great video, thanks Ravi, did exact same awesome ride including reroute after Pie town…what memories…I finished a AW on 08/25 and crossed into Mexico
Superb! So enjoyed watching last night 🙂🙂🙏🙏 I hope to do something similar (shorter). Thanks for putting this together.
