1992 Pacific Cup. Samoa 🇼🇸 vs Tonga 🇹🇴 Rugby League.
Carlaw Park classic. Pasifika rugby league at it's very best.
Edit begins with the end of the Tokelau 🇹🇰 vs Fiji 🇫🇯 game.
Ads included just to add a bit more nostalgia.
Apologies end of game got clipped. Classic footage regardless.

The NZAFL ran concurrently for two years before re-merging into the NZAFA in the 1989 season were all NZ teams came together in one competition. The NZAFL. Formed in the summer of early 1986 by the late George O’Scanlon. The NZAFL was initially played as a late Summer/Autumn League and would allow the already established NZGFA five team competition to continue to flourish. George O’Scanlon had recently returned from the US where he had worked as an coaching assistant alongside former USU head coach Chris Pella. The NZAFL initially assem...

South Auckland Saints. Founded in 1979. Original foundation members included Lawrence Tafa, Colin Tavui and the late Arthur Beazley who had all previously run alongside the Mountain Lions in scrimmages at Potters Park in the early years of football in Auckland. In the interests of accuracy I have only mentioned these three original pioneers, although many will attest to the likes of Keith Pati,...

Youngest named Kai. Played football with him in high school, and David was one of our coaches.
Would get up in the early hours to watch the tests of this tour. All Black selectors were proper mugs not playing Eveleigh for ALL the tests and not taking a decent goal kicker and fullback!
These Gladiators were the benchmark back in the day's...was the toughest team... always remember the blindside sacks lol
I have many memories of that era, made heaps of friends and of course played some amazing team's in that era, will always be thankful and grateful for my beloved Rangers...
Cool video! My dad was in this team, corner back number 9 O.Takiari
Thanks for the post.
Great Video. Really admired the shot of Wayne Boyd! He once gave my uncle a ride on his back when he briefly had a stint at the Metro Lions, and they played at the old East Tamaki college that was closed down. Thanks. Kevin. South Auckland Raiders 1995-2011.

Kia Ora Koia, Martin Stowers here, trust you are well bro. This video belonged to Pose Tafa, he and my brother Steve looked turns at filming it. We also filmed the game between Metro and Rangers that day. Had this sitting in the vaults for a few years, so was nice to get it converted for histories sake. Good times indeed. Funny how football in Auckland has come full circle, Metro Lions are due to play South Auckland Raiders in next weeks Kiwi Bowl. Got a few more videos if want to check out my youtube channel.ruclips.net/channel/UCCE5njZhKaQjWjRz5naw_0w

Heck of a team!.... MUSTANGS
Mean!!
Thanx for sharing the footage bro!!! Gotta learn how to upload the old tapes before the memories are gone forever.... :)
All good uso. Need to save these archives before it gets too late. I ended up getting this converted by a pro. They were able to improve the quality and clean the tape. Shame about the editing at the beginning.
@iNsAn3xGaMiNgZx Whos this..? tahi or zealin or tori?
Many guys went on from this programme to be successful at many levels of football, Obviously David Dixon succeeded in reaching the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings but many other players went on to play in 1st Division College Football and Junior College. Colleges such as University of Hawaii, Cal Berekley,BYU ,Utah State University ,University of Utah,Snow College,Eastern Utah,UTEP,Arizona State and Ricks College all had players come from these humble beginnings in New Zealand.
Davids my uncle, my dads 1st cuzin yeah boi!
