Anakin and Obi wan's Camp in 'In Search of the Crystal'
After Star Wars: The Clone Wars got cancelled, the creators decided to release a lot of the unaired material through various media (such as Netflix, comic books, novels, etc.). One arc, the Crystal Crisis on Utapau, while unfinished past the story reel stage, had the voice acting for Anakin and Obi-wan already recorded. Matt Lanter and James Arnorld Taylor had done such an exceptional job acting in this arc that the show runners decided to release the story reels rather than publish this material in printed form. This clip from the second episode, "In Search of the Crystal," is one of the more poignant scenes in the arc (or even the entire show!), and is my favorite moment. The full four-...

Char's Ending from the Zeta Gundam Playstation game. I've seen a lot of raws of this, but no subs. I found a translation (sorry, it's been a long time: I don't remember where I found it, or who translated it. I claim no credit of my own) Re-uploaded after my other channel got pulled (not because of this video). I love how this video shows Char's reaction to sensing Kamille get brain-fried, and ...

Quattro is really obsessed with Amuro. When Kamille showed up, awakened newtypes felt the same pressure that Amuro had with Kamille. But Kamille has displayed the youth that Amuro never had when he became a soldier. Amuro is a soldier through and through even though he was whiny at first. But Kamille is always questioning things even after he matured. That's why both Amuro and Char held their hopes to Kamille being the new "symbol" for the newtypes unlike the White Devil Amuro who only defeats feddies' enemies. And when Kamille suffered the psychic backlash Char lost hope and get back to putting the burden to Amuro again. He even leaked his own Sazabi's psychoframe design so they can clash ideals again but even then Amuro only has the mission in his mind.

In the Man who could not ride the Rainbow, Bright told the Federation brass & his Vist interrogators that Char fell into despair, because many of the top echelons of the Federation in 0093 had fought in the AEUG for spacenoid rights with Bright and Char, but went running back to their positions oppressing spacenoids in the Federation as soon as the wind changed. He also says that's it's because of such people that Char did what he did. Also, with so many people dying seemingly needlessly to save the world from Jamitov and Scriocco yet Haman seized power thereafter, no one was vindicated. His mentorship of Kamille became his only sanctuary and Kamille destroyed himself to save the world from Scriocco. That seemed to be the final straw for him. Bright spoke with Sayla at the end of ZZ and they both felt it was obvious if Char stood again he would become the greatest enemy they would ever know. He threw away everything and sacrificed all to change the world; yet changed nothing. Zimmerman said in the Unicorn novel he could perfectly understand Char, having an enemy he wanted to beat, an opponent he can vent his frustrations on to feel fulfilled. He can forget his despair by chasing after the enemy. His hatred for the Federation, hatred for people unwilling to change, hatred for himself as he was unable to do anything to make a difference. Bright said no one, not even Amuro could grasp the depths of his despair and that's why they were unprepared for his passionate madness, to destroy Earth and kill billions.

Anakin asked what would happen if he turned his back on Kenobi and then he wanted to ignore it and claims that won’t happen. Meanwhile in Gundam High-Streamer, the prequel novel to CCA that Tomino himself wrote: *_Amuro engages Char's mobile suit. He mistakes the actual Sazabi for a dummy balloon, allowing Char to maneuver behind him. During the following encounter, Nanai is presumably still riding along in the Sazabi, but she doesn't participate in the conversation._* _The unfamiliar mobile suit form closed rapidly, and slipped behind Amuro's Jeda. It was a genuine mobile suit._ _"The computer is totally useless when it's an unknown new model!"_ _Even as Amuro cursed, he didn't forget to link the camera's data to the computer._ _"Jeda! My performance is overwhelmingly superior!"_ _At a range of a few kilometers, the radio transmission was clear despite the Minovsky particles. Amid the noise, Amuro heard the voice of Char Aznable, and he was shocked. Had his reunion with this person had been accomplished so easily?_ _"Char?! You're alive after all!"_ "Hah! How could I lose my life in a battle with a woman like Haman Karn?" _"You should talk! You ought to know that boy Kamille Bidan went mad!"_ _"He was fragile, but that's not a virtue. Look at the masses, Amuro! Do they go mad? No matter what happens, they keep their composure and go on living their lives. Great work mate. We cannot blame the fans for getting confused as Tomino created several continuities for this franchise. Heck, even Amuro died in the MSG novel. The anime continuity is i think the continuity most fans follow. This video game ending only further confused UC purists especially that scene where Char seemed to have gotten the real Mineva. I wouldnt be surprised if the original series gets a reboot with an upgraded animation and massive plot changes.

One frustrating example is with the Zeta Gundam's biosensor and the material used to manufacture the mobile suits, Gundarium. Both of these were never mentioned in the shows so I had to do digging to find out where they originated, and I had thought they had originated from guide books which gave me the idea that they were never ideas conceived by Tomino himself. Actually small correction, Hi-Streamer isn’t a prequel to CCA… it just flat out _is_ CCA. CCA the movie is an adaptation of the latter half of the novel. That said, otherwise good job bringing this up. I won’t really blame anyone for not noticing this/preferring to ignore it, even in Japan Hi-Streamer seems kinda obscure.

    • @Brian-rx9sp
      @Brian-rx9sp Год назад

@@sndark6241 The link I provided by Mark Simmons in the original comment provides the full explanation. Hi-Streamer was a light novel that was serialized in Animage from May 1987 to April 1988 with 12 chapters and covers the events leading up to CCA. The first 8 chapters were collected into a volume that was retitled Char's Counterattack and was published in December 1987. The next two volumes were released in February and March of the following year and finish the story of Hi-Streamer as well as retell the events of the movie. So it's more like the novels (at least the second and third volumes) are adaptations of the film rather than the other way around, especially since the film came out around the same time as the third volume in March of 1988 meaning they were being produced concurrently.

That isn't Canon though, Hi Streamers was made before the Movie was released and isn't considred canon to the movies and OVAs, its its own continouity like Origin, So what Char says in that isn't canon to the rest of the series like this Game, CCA has at least 2-3 Versions that Tomino worked on before and after production of the Movie, so each version stands on their own. P.S Char may imply he doesn't care about Kamille here but Char is Compulsive Liar that likes to toy with people he hates, keep in mind this was the same guy that said he buried the Hatchet with Amuro but then turn around and said "Kek that was a Lie" meaning he can still just be taunting Amuro in this novel, also the dialoug implies he still Respected and Loved Kamille despite their differences, so it doesn't really contradict his characterization in this game.

You know what's really ironic? Char initially opposed Haman, because she wanted to conquer and rule the Earth sphere in order to free it from the corruption of the Earth Federation. Char did not want to repeat what the Zabi family tried 8 years earlier. He wanted humanity to peacefully leave the Earth and go into space. But this moment. This moment right here. This is the moment where he lost all hope. Kamille's fate made him realize that it was useless. Not just the Titans, almost all of humanity was corrupted, their souls weighted down by gravity. They would have never freed themselves from it. This realization is what made Char become how he is in Char's Counterattack. He had become exactly like Haman: not caring of the means or how many people had to die in order to succeed in his goals. But the kicker? Despite everything she did, Haman was right. Look at all the atrocities the Titans did. They came from the Federation. Look how the federation just stood by, providing no help to all those people who died in Dublin's Colony Drop. And it was the federation ITSELF that exiled 8 BILLION people into space and treated them, human beings just like the Earthnoids, like dirt. Meaning that the indipendence of Zeon was COMPLETELY justified. It was all nothing more than an endless cicle of hatred, lies and violence. Char, in the end wanted to break that circle. No matter how much Char changed for the worst, he still wanted the best for humanity. He never betrayed his father's wishes.

But he also believed that humanity could become something better if he could force them to leave the cradle of the earth. To usher in an age of new types by using the Axis drop as an ultimatum, even if he himself understood he would be remembered as an evil madman. Despite his loss of faith in humanity however, I think he still had faith in Amuro Ray. So he gave Amuro the technology developed for his new MS to allow him to challenge him on equal ground, both on a physical and ideological level, to give him one final chance to settle the score.

@@TomJupiterCorrect, he did not want to breath new life into the world, he lost faith in humanity that lived on earth. You’re wrong about everything else; Char was done giving people from earth a second chance, getting rid of them would bring a new age to the Spacenoids who would be completely unbound by Earth’s gravity. What I am trying to say was that he gave up on Earthnoid redemption, not the entirety of mankind. The Newtype theory claimed that Earthnoids must leave earth, and then as Spacenoids they would blossom into Newtypes… paraphrased of course. By removing all remaining Earthnoids from existence you speed up the process; since all of mankind would be, by default.. spacenoids. THUS, the evolution of Spacenoids to newtypes would be a more realistic endeavor.

The simplest terms I could use for the original Zeon would be 'Revaluation Coopted'. The basic ideas of liberty and self determination were used to kindle inside of people this or that ideology as devised by figures reinterpreting the work of the first revolutionary: Zeon Deikun. And the reason I like Zeon is because I could see myself being drawn into the spirit of revaluation, sustained by the hype at the possibility that we could pull it off, and be blinded by rage at the death of Zeon Deikun. I would be fine with the Zabi's taking control; 'Atleast for now we can focus ourselves on forcing the Feddies to give us what we want.' And by the time Ghiren fully took over and fascism became rampant I'd either be dead or disillusioned by the war. If I lived I'd side with the AEUG, and if I survived the Grypse War and the Neo Zeon war I'd retire an disgruntled old man.

In this scene where we see him sense Kamille's mind get destroyed, his reaction to seeing his hopes (as embodied by Kamille) get dashed--and his subsequent despair for, and rejection of, humanity--helps flesh out the previously unseen transition from hopeful Quattro to Terrorist Char.

fuck no. The world needs less "references" to the past in entertainment.

@@SHOTGUNStotheNOSE Char was a founder and a pillar of AEUG and his fate is left ambiguous at the end of Zeta. At the end of ZZ Neo Zeon's leadership has been wiped out and the organisation is in disarray after losing the war. So, how do we start CCA? Uh well Neo Zeon is... yep, still active and is dropping another celestial body and what the fuck, Amuro just said in casual conversation that Char is not only alive but leading Neo Zeon??? See how that is a terrible way to connect stories? CCA needed more references to ZZ as ZZ is absolutely a skippable entry. Why? No other entry in the timeline references the characters or events of ZZ outside of an obscure manga and a line or two in Unicorn about how the first Neo Zeon war was... a war... that happened. Then there's this movie that is so jarring you get no extra value out of having watched 50 episodes of ZZ aside from already knowing that Neo Zeon... exists. If CCA had opened with Char floating in space and being picked up by Neo Zeon and then we were shown the events of ZZ through his eyes, it would have elegantly explained the start of CCA and why Char is now in the opposite position to where we left him. Referencing past works is kind of essential if you want to change things about established settings, characters, events, etc.

@@jeff3221 I read somewhere that CCA was first and formost anniversary movie to conclude the gundam, so (my theory starts here) they reignited their conflict just because it was a thing in 0079, logic be damned. That's why almost nothing is explained, despite the fact the movie is wasting a lot of time on exposition dumps to Quess, because kids might not know what happend during OYW. And I couldn't agree more with you about ZZ. I hated it when I watched it (just because it's less goofy after 15 episodes it doesn't mean that characters are likable now or the story makes any sense) and I hated it even more when I discovered that I just wasted time on it, because it's not referenced in CCA in any way or form.

This I think is a reiteration of Char/Quattro's feelings toward the final third of the Zeta series. He seems open to cyber Newtypes. Newtypes are the answer to the corruption. Members of the Argama are telling him no way man we have to save everyone and show the world a better path. Earth Federation's Corruption took advantage of those traumatized by Zeon with funding the Titans. Char ends up being right such that the cycle repeats itself. Episode 1 of Double Zeta Neo Zeon moves in and gains power with money corruption of the Colony Corporation. Later on makes deals with the hold over corrupted earth government. Gundam reiterates power corrupts themes that are very realistic in our world that play a role in war(s).

The musical piece for Char's entrance in 0092, it's absolutely perfect. After scouring RUclips and the rest of the internet though I can't find it anywhere. Anyone know what it is?
