A short video on the topic of cleaning gold coins and why it is not a good idea at all.
Submerging my gold coin in a can of wet coffee grains to stain it and achieve the antique coin look.
Просмотров 136Месяц назад
Using my 1861 gold coin made during the Spanish Philippines colonial times, I plan to undo the "cleaning" damage to the coin by submerging it in a can of wet coffee grains hoping it will stain the coin and give it the antique look I am looking for to pass the scrutiny of PCGS or NGC coin grading.

Trying to dull a shiny cleaned gold coin for third-party grading resubmission
Просмотров 80Месяц назад
I'm trying to dull (or age) two gold coins that were inadvertently cleaned by someone at one point in the past. This experiment involves using one gold coin under direct sunlight and another gold coin submerged in tap water. The objective is to dull the gold coin for resubmission to Third-Party Graders (TPG). This is the result after 48 hours.

Very nice Coins 🎉🎉
True
Thx
Taking the king of metal and putting it in plastic should be a crime. Gold protects itself. Its properties are unique and WONDERFUL.
Gold is gold I hate grading. Never buy plasticised gold. There's way too many mints. Especially in the states.

Do you run across any 1867 1 peso
No, I have never seen 1867. That is still a dream for me :)
Interesting but both would need a lot more to not be considered cleaned. I am working on a couple myself...
Please share how to achieve the "not cleaned" look.
@@coinyotic I too set the coin out on the window sill under sun exposure with only a little effect. So then set it on high sulfur content napkin from Chipotle/Taco Bell as well as trying wrapping the coin in this napkin and put it on the sill. This had more effect, but not enough. So then I tried putting coins in this napkin, soaked it in tap water & then put in oven on cookie sheet for 10 min, then 15 and 20 min. Better but not enough. So then I got garden soil, put coins in this and wrapped the dirt and coins in same napkin and put this in oven first at 190, then 200 degrees, then 250 degrees for 10, 15, then 20-30 minutes. Better. But wanted more so did the same soil around coin, wrapped in napkin, then put in two black tea bags outside of that napkin, then wrapped that packet in another napkin, soaked it in water and put in oven for 20, 30 minutes at 250 & then 300 degrees. This brought back the more natural color of the 90% gold alloy coin but did lose a bit of the lustre with this. What does not change is the micro surface of the coin that was smoothed and abraded by the earlier cleaning; this evidence was subsided a bit but don't think it would be enough for the more cleaned of your coins or even the other less cleaned coin. I say this because both coins had been cleaned though the one less so.
@@ericdawson845 I agree the direct sunlight does not have any effect on the coin. Great idea on baking the coin :) I have two graded coins by NGC and they are very dull and bits of dirt clinging in some areas. So I'm presuming if I get the coin very dull by burying it in a soaking wet ground coffee bean tray hopefully I can make enough change to get through TPG scrutiny.
Beautiful coin.
great coin
Thank you for your effort and demo.
Send it to me and I'll grade it 👍
What happen to millions taken to USA? Did Philippine people get anything back?
Sadly no one knows if we will recover the ill-gotten wealth. Unfortunate really.
I have 1 piso 1905.
What is the weight of the coin. Looks very nice.
Coin weight is 6.76 grams. Thank you :)
Don't fret the tax, my friend. Gold is only going higher in dollar terms, and you'll show a nice profit down the road. Plus, you got one of your sought after golden grails, so relax and enjoy it! Cheers!
Nice gold piece.
Hell Yeah, nice one.
Glad you like it :)

One coin in 1908 how much one Piso.
Mga P2,500 - P50,000 depende sa linis at brilyo.
I have 1905 and 1907 US-phil one Piso coin. How to sell it?
Awesome video, I am trying to purchase one of these.
There are many 1917-C coins for sale in ebay.com. Good luck and have fun coin collecting!
What is the gold purity of your coin ? Are you selling it ?
Hi there! The gold composition is 0.875 according to en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces21141.html No, Sorry I'm not selling this coin. I appreciate the interaction. Thank you.
How Much sir?
Sorry not for sale. Please refer to NGCCOIN for price guide here - www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/world/philippines-4-pesos-km-144-1861-1868-6-5-cuid-1085374-duid-1519203
That’s a nice looking coin, thanks for sharing.
Great video, I just purchased one today at coin show in Mississauga
The 1911-C is a good looking scarce coin. Congratulations!
What's the weight and purity? Looks like American constitutional, 90%.
The weight is 26.9563 g with 90% silver and 10% copper - according to the numista.com website. I have a weighing scale for coins and my 1903 coin shown here in the video is 26.81 grams only. Thank you for inquiry! :)
I have a 1903 and the weight is 27.1 . Is mine fake ?
Holy crap what a set! That 1913 is a really tough one to get.
Yes the 1913-C is very rare and hard to find. The 1908-C, 1909-C and 1916-C will be tougher! :)
@@coinyotic yep for sure. The 1908 and 1916 C would run you tens of thousands each at least. The 1909 is probably attainable though. At least probably more than the 1913 C lol
