David Gilmour 2024-10-14 Royal Albert Hall - Comfortably Numb filmed from the East Choir
A slightly unusual perspective on David Gilmour's encore on Monday, 14 October 2024. I saw that two women in front of me to my right, along with a man leaning over the balcony, were going to be in my shot, so embraced it and allowed my iPhone to drift around the scene. No alterations have been made to my 4K video, and the sound came out quite well.
Overall, the choir was a very nice cheap seat. I was next to the organ, famously played by Richard Wright in 1969, and could see many elements of the action on the stage that fans in the main arena would have missed.

A recording made by an ITV and BBC viewer from the television broadcasts. The sound quality is good for its vintage and I have made no attempt to adjust it. Sides 1-2 are on a red Raphone C90 cassette a...

I wonder how many people agree with me: I think if the producer of a recording didn't bother to retain a copy, then I believe any copyright should lapse, so that those that did record them can make them publicly available. I have many BBC audio recordings that I made during the Apollo programme, but the BBC were very aggressive in their insistence that I do not release them publicly. They are very nice quality too. I think Apollo 16 was overall my favourite of all the missions, but nothing quite matches the magic that was in the air on that July night in 1969. I remember the BBC coverage took a break for a few hours after the landing, and I went up to my bedroom and looked at the moon before intending to draw my bedroom curtains. An hour later, I was still looking at it, a sense of wonder and awe as I imagined what Neil and Buzz could see out their windows; I couldn't believe a whole hour had passed. I shall never forget that night.

Correction to my previous post: Sorry, the landing and lift-off are ITV; the moonwalk is definitely BBC, and I haven't heard this much of James Burke's commentary before. This seems to cover more of the moonwalk commentary than the BBC officially have. I'd love to see if I can improve the sound of this tape; it seems to me that it may be possible to produce quite a good sound, especially if mixed with the official NASA audio tapes.

While this does sound like the best quality I've heard so far of audio direct from the TV broadcast, this is not BBC. It's the ITV coverage, with Alistair Burnett, Peter Fairley, and the former NASA mission commentator Paul Haney. Good find - but just wanted to put the record straight. I'm an editor myself, and I might try having a go at improving the sound quality of this tape; it sounds to me like a lot of good frequencies are buried in the recording, just waiting to be "brought out".

I was there! Still in a state of shock from it all. 5th time I have seen them since the first tour, twice each in 2018 and 2019. This is the absolute BEST because of their version of Echoes at the end of the show. I was in tears. You will be, too, if someone manages to post it. Thank God for Nick keeping alive the flame of songwriters like Syd and Richard Wright, who's evanescent light are the utter opposite of Roger Waters dark and dystopian vision of the band from Animals onward. Thank god i got to see them during the Wish You Were Here tour, going out on a high, compared to the bloody stupid Wall. Worst album in the Pink Floyd canon. As Nick Mason said during his stage bantor on the 2018 tour, he did not realize the depths they had sunk to until he said he had to play drums for the likes of "Another brick in the wall" and rightly felt they had become just another a disco band!
