Nothing typical about 87 Topps. Only a couple of times in history, have they ever used that wooden type of border. They’re instantly recognizable to collectors of a certain age. As for the players, they were pretty typical of that time. They looked like anybody else. Like you could get off your couch and play. I think that was part of the attraction back in the day.

Yeah. 69 cents was good for a slice in 1987. You could have lunch or buy a pack of cards. The game has changed so much in the last 40 years. My kids looked at the cards when I was done and were commenting on how most of the players didn’t even look like athletes. It’s wild. Looking at them now, they really did look like regular guys off the street. Bo being an exception, of course. He looked and played like he was from this time, then. Thanks for checking it out.

@@bdpsportscards109 Yes Bo could have been one of the greatest 2 sport athlete. I actually watched that Raiders game where he got tackled and messed up his hip joint. I still have the 89 Score black and white Nike card.

In the playoffs against the Bengals. I was watching that game too. Looked like a nothing hit, but robbed us of one of the greatest athletes that ever lived.

@ I used to hate grading (til I realized how much $ I could make) but if you ever find any key guys on the top of cellos/racks, send them to psa. I just sent a 1993 Topps cello in (Gwynn rc on top) that I paid $125 for and it got a 9 and I sold it for $380. Did the same with an ‘88 Topps football pack with Bo on top and quadrupled my $. Just a good way to keep finding more rips. Thanks for the throwback video buddy!!

@josephdill3776 yeah. It’s a great way to make some cash on these older cello boxes. I paused when I saw the Rose on top of the one pack but didn’t think it would be worth it.

@ it really isn’t. Only the rookies (an although he was great, Rickey Henderson, even pre d**th and maybe Nolan Ryan, especially in 1986, with the black borders)…you appear to be a seasoned collector, so I assumed you knew the game, but these are absolutely worth buying alt shiws, flea markets, etc when they’re in great shape (hole unpunched, Alaric that doesn’t feel like sandpaper in racks, very clean shrink-wrapping on old cellos, quality of the plastic on the entire pack - especially the older you go. I just wanted to suggest it, just in case you hadn’t already figured out how good of a racket it is! 😂 sorry for the book: I’m glad that I got a notification for this video; cuz I looked into the older ones (I didn’t have notifications on all, before this afternoon hahaha. But I’ll be an avid watcher. Keep working the card game, I’m ready for more of this variety. JD

Last raw comps put it around $15 and that’s what I paid for the blaster. How many times do you pull a single card that pays for the box it came in? Wish I could do that every time. Plus, it makes my son happy. That’s a great ROI. Appreciate you checking it out.

Yeah. The more I think about it, the more I realize just how crazy the box was. I also realized after the fact, that the one non numbered Simons I pulled was an SSP Colorburst. Isn’t super valuable but just another short printed card in a box full of them. Thanks for checking it out.
