What the emperor saw on a morning drive – a short history of Indian educators in Ethiopia
The only African country to have never been colonized, Ethiopia developed its formal education system independently of former colonial powers. Nevertheless, Haile Selassie, under whose leadership the development of the education system began, involved several countries in the initial stages. From the 1940s onwards he hired teachers not only from Western countries but also from India to meet the demands of the rapidly expanding Secondary Education Sector. When Ethiopia enlarged its Higher Education Sector six decades later, around the turn of the millennium, again Indian educators were hired. Although Indian educators have played an important role in Ethiopian education since the beginning...

Transregional interactions have produced complex cosmopolitan societies across the Afrasian Sea transregion. Individuals, communities, ethnic groups and nation-states exhibit a competition of memories as to who arrived in which territory first, who suffered more during certain atrocities, who participated or did not participate in which atrocities, who influenced which culture more, who made wh...

Just Another Chinese Guy A documentary by Melanie Gärtner, 2015 (16min)in cooperation with the BMBF-funded project AFRASO (Africas Asian Options)(www.afraso.org). While media coverage on Chinese-African interactions commonly portrays them as a neocolonial political project; a look on the daily lives of Chinese people in Africa, who are trading, settling and forming communities, reveals that mon...
Mohammed ibn Batuta was not an Arab but Moroccan ( African) under islamization.
If we Africans worked 24/7 😂😂😂 I don’t know.
African should try to learn from the past, why would they let foreign countries involved in the mining business... It must be done by locals.... Poor Africans, why don't you use your sacred mind..... They want to steal your riches...
What a shame to see this type of environmental disaster taking place in this day and time. These corrupted leadership in Cameroon will allow the Chinese to strip the land, leaving the desperate population even worst than before while stuffing their pockets together with their Chinese partners. Why don't they invest on their own citizens to exploit these gold? This self hateful leaders are the problem of African countries. I can see why Ambazonia was right to standup for their rights, and take control of their own political and economic future.

AfroAsian why attach Asia to Africa as there has never been a Middle East before the Suez Canal was invented by the colonizing Europeans; what we call Middle East has always sat on the African tectonic plate; in terms of the East Indians, the Dravidians or the original people's sometimes referred to as Dalits are Ethiopians/Africans. The term Dalits means Bound and the name may have been given to them by those who enslaved them and put them into a racist caste system at the lowest levels. The Dalits or Dravidians were the indigenous peoples of India or the Eastern Ethiopians or Eastern Africans. THE distinction between the black skinned Sudroid races of Southern India and the fair skinned Aryan races of Northern India is not an invention of English colonialism historians; it is a feature mentioned by the earliest Greek travelers who visited South Asia centuries before the advent of Robert Clive. The ancient Greeks said that the black Africans and the Sudras(modern Dalits and Dravidians) as belonging to the same Ethiopian stock; Ethiopian was the Greek word for negro and Greek authors referred to the Negros as Western Ethiopians and the Dravidians as the Eastern Ethiopians or (Eastern Negros)! Witness the following citation from Herodotus: "the Eastern Ethiopians (Sudras) differed in nothing from the other Ethiopians, save in their language and the character of their hair texture; for the Eastern Ethiopians have straight hair, while they, the Western Ethiopians, are more wolly haired!
The Cameronians must learn from the Chinese how to be a hard worker. Some Chinese are good and some are arrogant but they all have one thing in common, they are hard working people!
They don't need to learn working hard doing a labourer job. The job has to offer some motivational incentives, as fair salaries. Anyway they don't need to have the Chinese exploiting gold in their villages because the Chinese would not permit them to do same in China.
The whole story started in Zanzibar back then 1600
China is the world's destroyer.
I want to learn the real KiSwahili that is so corrupted with arabic, or other influences.
am actually guinean who wanna go to malaysia for study soon
❤❤❤❤ this such an eye opener.
Sad state of affairs!👎
Well i'm only sticking up for common sense and the sake of African development but the Chinese didnt come there to develop a community they came there to mine gold. The Chinese SEEM to be working class trying to provide for family. So why should we expect them to develop the community if we havent made it a condition in their contracts. If you had a choice to 'fund another nations governments projects with your ''hard'' earned capital or provide for your family generations to come? Which one will you chose? Isn't development the main reason we tax these foreign companies. Where does the tax money go? The money spent on licenses, permits and other documents they pay gov for them to operate. So we can put some money back in to infrstructure etc.... so if leadership arent enforcing or amending regulations to benefit the immediate community an environment there's need to be a change in leadership. Our problem is leadership and community. Our problem is social. They will deal with whom ever represents us as government. So if
Like everywhere in the world small scale gold mining is a low profit business that leaves a giant environmental mess.
Many Desis could pass for being Horn Africans yeah

In some countries, there are many racist people. In some countries, there are many corrupt people. In some countries, there are many deceitful people. In a few countries, you can find all three and these are ideal for desperate or naive people.
Are you telling me that you Cameroons do not know how to mine for gold, do you expect the Chinese and other foreigners to come into Africa and make you happy? What's wrong with you? Where are your leaders, what are they thinking or doing?
I could ask you exactly the same thing. Why are you not mining gold in your own country? It's easy, right? You are a big boy, you can do it. :-)
Neera kapur
.... and whilst lauding the efforts of the above mentioned, let's spare a thought for the town in a small country where the 'Lion of Judah' was educated - Swansea. in Wales! He attended the Bible College at Derwen Fawr, now disappeared, during the period of his secondary education.
Mimi na jua swahili!
Jews in india were/are never persecuted in India. Not sure why anyone of Indian origin would feel or be persecuted in India !!!!!!!!!
Wow! My parents and my two elder siblings lived in Ethiopia from 1966 to 1969. My dad worked at Teachers Training Institute (TTI), and taught biology. I was born in Ras Makonen Hospital in Harar, Ethiopia in 1967 - as recorded on my birth certificate. For my parents, Ethiopia was their first country outside India and were blessed to travel far and wide. Their memories of Ethiopia is very warm and dear and Amaric is the only foreign language apart from English that the picked up. My siblings remember Ethiopia too even though they were under 5...something about the people there. I dont remember anything from there, but I am told I knew Amaric as a toddler. I must visit and spend time there.
Our Engineering College Hostel ( from MA College of Engineering, Kothamangalam, Kerala) built ~1950s was named HS 1 & HS2 ( Haile Selassie 1 & 2) . Honouring the Ethiopian Emperor.

A HIDDEN HISTORY BY THE EUROPEAN MISSIONARIES
The African slave trade by the Arabs started right here, on the east coast of Africa, 400 years b4 the beginning of transatlantic slave trade on the west coast of Africa. Yet many of of us on the east coast don't and/or are uncomfortable talking about the crimes that the Arabs committed against our ancestors due to the religious they brought to us, but are quickly to condemn the evil deeds of the Europeans on us..
Facts.
True
So the black Africans left their culture and takes a foreign culture.
True, kiswahili is a mix from Bantus,Arabic ,Shirazi etc Many kiswahili words come from outside Bantu scope.
A ppl that can't lead will be lead
Mscheeeww!! The same Asian's that detest African's and treat us like animals in their countries. And some even in our own countries on the continent of Africa. Payback will come one day!
Respect and Regard
I do not detest Africans at all but some Africans detest me as I am Asian. We were unfairly made to be scapegoats for problems of the country. I do not blame the people but politicians are to be blamed.
@Don Andretti Thank you for your response. What you have said is a GENERALISED statement about Asians. If you read my comments properly I clearly said SOME Africans which clearly means not everyone. Additionally I also said I DO NOT BLAME THE PEOPLE but Politicians who are looking to blame problems of the country on others.
@Don Andretti Preach brother preach!
@Don Andretti I think South Asia is a large place so please make it clear which country would you be talking about specifically and also Africa is large so which African country would you be talking about when you imply Asians living freely and not treating fellow Africans decently according to you. Very much interested to know this. Thank you
We need to rebuild the mansions, castles from our ancestors!
