First time seeing this. Holtz looked like he was trying to get rid of the puck every time he touched it. I wonder if that’s improved since this was his first pro game. Not that he necessarily made poor passes but he seemed like he didnt want to go for a skate with it. Also side note I felt bad for the announcer every time he brought up the Devils moving to Utica, sounded salty.

This was perhaps the best and most intelligent podcast I ever heard. Great job, guys. Devils will win no matter who they select. The only way they lose is if they become the NY Knicks!

The WC was legitimately impressive. The Olympic performance is super overrated. 7 goals in 7 games on the surface is crazy. Once you dig into the context of shooting 29% and getting 0 assists it loses some of that shine. The Hlinka yes was also impressive. It’s less impressive than Wright’s U18 from last year though

I do like his some of his assessments but it feels like he’s trying to justify Slaf over Wright rather than just comparing them.

Considering the Devils would be somewhere like 10th 15th overall if not for the Great Goalie Implosion, treat this pick like a bonus and swing for the fences. They leave the draft with Slafkovsky or Wright and it’s hard to be upset with that.

I think there's something special about Slaf. Being MVP of the Olympics at 17 is extremely rare, he has only gotten better. Ceiling is so high for him he's worth the gamble. He's already produced against NHL players he's as safe a pick as you can find as well.

Slafs gonna be a bust, we gotta draft nemac.

Reminds me of Smid. Solid draft pick. Ken the pen may overpay sometimes, but his drafting record is one of the best in NHL history, maybe of all time. And it's proving to be true, 2 years in, and he got Holloway, Broberg, Lavoie, Savoie, Tullio, Konovalov, Borgeault and now Munzenburger. Every single one of them (2019/2020 draft) have excelled to a higher plateau since being drafted, and would go much higher in a re-draft. That core, in 2-3 years is a supporting cast that can win a championship with McDavid, Draisaitl and Nurse at the helm. Remember, Ken traded our 20th overall for the 22nd and this pick. Minnesota picked Wallstadt (the goalie all Oiler fans wanted) and Edmonton got Borgeault and Munzenburger. Let's see who wins this trade/draft between the two teams.
