    Hard to see what we are paying Petey and we need to get him wingers to make him better, as opposed to him driving his line....and Reinhart would look nice as a Canuck with a similar Petey price point.

    Why are they wasting time on Lindholm? He’s not worth the money he was making let alone a raise. Give Mikhayev to Utah or San Jose for a 7th rounder. Sign Joshua, Bleuger, Zadorov, Myers and Silovs. Trade Hronek for draft choices or a centre and sign Dillon. We have some quality in Abbotsford and Willander and Pettersson will be ready in two years to replace guys like Myers and Jualson.

    I'm not seeing how Soucy is better than Zadorov. And this team is supposed to be a playoff team now.. so playoff performers are needed. Wouldn't it be better to have Soucy and Myers as a '3rd' pair. They will both be making around 3 million.. and then have Zadorov and someone else as your 2nd long term. .. or even a 2a 2b pair.

    Wasn't our third line center supposed to be Suter? We might need to sacrifice some center depth quality(Lindholm) to improve the wings. Also: I know it sounds crazy(it probably is) but could Mikeyev benefit from a proper off season of training that isn't taken up by recovering from injury? The guy has faced a lot of adversity since coming into the league in the Covid shortened season. Perhaps some normalcy can do him some good? Hopefully he can be properly used in a third line winger role and not have the pressure and expectations so high. He's overpaid but definitely can be better.

    This management group is same as last. Not patient, not building a perennial contender, this team is a mediocre pretender at best. Feasted on the weakest division in the league Sharks, Ducks, Kraken, Flames all bottom 10 in the league Edmonton slow start to the season Vegas limping all year At best Canucks are 3rd best in their division, Tocchet did a great job but even if they were to bring the whole team back it’s no where near good enough Nashville should have beaten them in first round if not for Silovs and Boeser / Garland / Miller Only showing up and Playing 10 or 15 minutes in the third period = resilient 😂 I hate this owner and new Jim same Jimbo moves Trading away futures for a mediocre now.

    "Don't be blind with your contracts", they say ... Pettersson's contract, making him THE 5TH HIGHEST PAID PLAYER IN THE WORLD (He's the 5th best player in the world? He's performed in the past as the 5th best player in the world? He's expected even to play in the future like the 5th best player in the world ... EVER? No, no, and no. So, uh....), which has TOTALLY screwed up the salary structure of the team, and made it that "there's no way The Canucks can re-sign all these FA's" (UFA or otherwise)... Yeah, THERE'S a PERFECT example of being blind in contract negotiations... what a mistake that will haunt the team for the next decade.

    My take is GMs have a flawed view on keeping a successful team together . You pay for success Pay term always Example Dakota Joshua, should have been given a 3 year deal when first signed . Big Z pay 8 x 4.5 , Lindholm 8 x 5

      So Toronto model blow your load on 4 players and build a team in free agency… 👏👏👏 Petterson is Mitch Marner 2.0 Miller is the best centre this team has but should be a 2C on a contender Hughes is great but needs a younger Tanev like D not a wish washy Hronek more concerned with offense and leaving Hughes out to dry getting pumped by opposing team’s fore checkers Boeser has too much character and class for this organization hope he goes somewhere where he is appreciated. This team is 2 years away from a rebuild All this new management team is doing is retarding the rebuild and the fans are too delusional with regular season success to see that mediocrity is what this team is. Pretenders not contenders

  • @robertalenrichter
    @robertalenrichter 8 дней назад

    I think that it's less a question of his usefulness in the regular season and beyond. He'd be fine. But you don't want two of your three main centres earning well on longer contracts and already over thirty. The motto should be prudent cap allocation with a view to the future. If Pettersson turned out to be a bust, which I seriously doubt, Lindholm wouldn't be the solution anyway. I'm also a bit worried about Hronek. He's had his share of injury troubles -- time will not be kind, either, even though he's only 26. If I were management, I'd take the bold approach and really shuffle the deck, get younger and develop more financial flexibility.

    It's crazy having the NHL Finals scheduled to go until mid-June, when they have the NHL draft and free agency that soon, with some teams still trying to figure out how injured their players are. They have got to start the season earlier. I'd love to see Joshua back but huge raises to depth forwards is how this team got into Salary Cap Hell with Benning to begin with. I'd love to see them bring back Hronek, Zadiorov, and Myers back but the sky is not the limit. I'd love to see Lindholm back too. Team Rutherford has a lot of moving pieces to figure out this offseason, but after what they were able to do this last season, I'm looking forward to what moves they make with a lot less apprehension than in previous off-seasons.

    We can't pay a 30 years old for 7 more years we already have Miller in that kind of contract . But we know what JT is about. Do we want to gamble on Lidholm ? We can't have another guy who we arent sure about his effort level on 7 million at age 35, 36, 37. I think Joshua knows his best landing spot is here in vancouver. We need to relax a little. He'll be back.

    If you must have a weakness it's a necessary evil to have be on wing considering both Pettersson and Miller can have issues at center and Lindholm might be arguably their safest defensive center over time. And if you can have a strength it's a worthy continued experiment to keep this center depth. Realistically the team has to take advantage of the fact both Petey and Miller play wing too. Unless you can find the perfect winger centers that can play wing > natural wingers in terms of team depth. Just wait for Lekkerimaki instead of letting Lindholm slip through your fingers.

  • @mikepette4422
    @mikepette4422 10 дней назад

    Also I know its hindsight but man had we taken Cole Caulfield over Podkolzin we could have saved Stan Smyl some embarrassment on the podium and some trouble looking for a scoring winger...just a shot at you benning fans

  • @mikepette4422
    @mikepette4422 10 дней назад

    We just can't afford Lindholm he's be a nice luxury if we had cap space but we just don't. First the team needs to "fix" EP40 and yes a good consistent scoring winger is needed someone LIKE Brock Boeser a guy whos able to make a play and still score enough to justify his time on the top 2 lines. So yeah sign a winger and if he's over 30 fine pay him a little more but for less term. We can afford a guy if hes 5 million x 3 years and I'm sure there's guys like that in this years rich free agent market. I agree don't move Garland up in the line up. keep that line 3 as an effective alternative and let them eat up the other teams 3rd line.

    We need 2 new coaches to cover the PP and PK. Zadarov wont be back at that price. Love the player but it isnt a smart value decision. I hope Lindholm is back we lekkerimäki coming up. Maybe it takes another year but when he foes the depth will be great. Gives us options to stack the lines or spread ot out and give more minutes on the PP. If we arent brining Lindholm back we need Blueger. Trading Boeser is a dumb idea. We need right shooting wingers. Lets trade our best one..... Miller and him played great together. he has come so far not just the 40 goals but his defensive play.

    I know people are happy because they did more then expected. But the coach and managements decision to not take advantage of LTIR rules to ice a better team come playoff time. Shows they don’t know how to run a team in 2024. It’s true that petey needs to learn how to play hurt as you will get hurt come playoff time. However it would have helped the team for him to rest and give them the cap room to add 2-3 more players. They would have been the potential difference and petey would have been fresher to start the playoffs.

    This team is moving in a positive direction , for the first time since before Mike Gillis sent it down the river with all or nothing management, and Jim Benning picked up the torch without even knowing how fire burns you! As long as ownership continues to put trust in Jim Rutherford and company, and STAYS THE HELL out of trying to manage the team themselves, then, there may be an actual COMPETITIVE future for The Canucks! Makes you kind of feel warm inside, doesn't it? Now, next training camp, hire Wayne Gretzky for one hour, and have him teach the team his mantra: You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. (Could've helped a lot this playoffs too, but, as they say, hindsight is recognozing how they F'ed THAT UP! 😜)
