Is this an inverter generator? They’re typically way quieter than a standard generator. Glad you’re happy with it. I’ve been there until I got my old flat head 4 cylinder Kohler back running. It’s way better to me. There’s pros and cons both ways. We’re up at Pickwick Lake and park in coves. I love to hear the frogs and crickets Last generator I had was like a German tank running onboard. 😂

I just found your RUclips videos! I have always loved the house boating life.Your boat looks to be in fantastic shape for a Gibson. I have one too, but it is a trailerble type boat and not a Gibson. My boat is aged a little as well, so I had to put a new roof on mine and some remolding on the inside. To myself it’s just as good as a new one without the new payment to go with it!!! It’s much smaller than yours and only has a 115 Suzuki engine. It’s 28 feet long and 8feet wide from pontoon to pontoon. It’s also a tri-toon boat. By it being smaller I can store it in my front yard out here in the country .It is going to have to do for me.😊

I really like your houseboat content. My wife and I will begin looking for a Gibson once she retires after the first of the year, with the goal of getting it converted to diesel and adding other improvements. We hope to begin doing longer trips and spending several months at a time on board, once we finally have the time to do so.

Awesome upgrade to the engine room! And the generator up top is accessible and when it craps out, it will make a good anchor!

We did pretty much the same and pulled our worn out Kohler generator. I installed almost 6 kWh of lithium batteries, what lasts us several days. If needed, we would fire up a portable generator to recharge them. We‘re in Michigan, though, a/c therefore isn‘t as much of a concern. The inverter would power the a/c only or a few hours, we would then either have to shut off the a/c or fire up the generator.

The Gibson looks to be in good condition for living in salt water. Almost bought one many years ago and we had a catastrophic engine failure on the survey and some soft decks so we bought a big Carver cruiser instead. Cheers!

Florida native here who has watched your videos but hasn't been down to the Keys in a long time. I'm closing out some family affairs and looking to the future. I lived on several trawler and sailboats years ago when I was in the Navy and miss it. When I retired in 2000, a college classmate and I took his 24' Sea Ray Amberjack down the ICW from his house in Merritt Island to The Galleon in Key West. We stopped at Lorelei's on the way down. I remember that it's 454 Chevy was very thirsty! I'm really interested in your proposed outboard repower of the Mystic; there aren't many videos out there on houseboat repowers and the engines have gotten really good!
