The Christmas Carpenter

Just a college kid doing woodworking in the shed in the backyard. My plan is to make some Christmas gifts for friends and family, then post the videos closer to Christmas time.
Saying goodbye to my Jon Boat!
The time has come. I moved out of my parents' house, haven't taken the boat out in over 2 years, and it is quite literally collecting dust (water, bugs, mold, etc.), so its time to say goodbye!
I built this boat about 5 years ago. I didn't have a plan when I started, other than "build a boat." I didn't do a great job, but the boat floats. Well, it did. Probably won't anymore. I had a lot of fun building the boat and taking it out to the lake. Sadly, I never caught a fish from it.

I had a bunch of homework and family in the line of the hurricane (everyone's okay!) so I definitely think that I could have done better. I would rather have made this as a Christmas gift, but the baby is due in like 2 weeks. I want to say this was a fun project, but it quickly became a lot to handle since my shop isn't full set up yet. I'll start off with saying that my shed is not heated, not insulated, and it was not sunny while I built this. But it was in fact roughly 35F outside. So that was fun. This project wasn't meant to look pretty but just be functional. Our cats were having some issues with moving sideways, forwards, and vertical to get back from the joist, so we thought this might help them out with getting back.

I would go for a hinged entry way for the cat door entrance, maybe with a lighter material. That way the entrance can be opened and closed by the cat granting access whenever be.
I literally searched "how to put cabinets in garage with concrete footer sticking out farther than wall" what you came up with is very much what I had thought id need to do. Off to buy some 2x4 now. Thanks for validating my thoughts
However I may cut large French cleat out of 3/4 ply mount on wall and smaller sections on the back of cabinets and set and forget. Shim the bottoms and call it day.
@@shrimpinpat just make sure the cabinets aren't crooked before you attach them. Lesson learned on my end!

I don't believe so, but iirc that's one of the things that isn't explicitly explained in the rulebook. Our house rules typical state that teleporting counts as movememt

@@ChronicallyBranden93 Sorry, but due to different safety regulations concerning cribs, I can't provide plans for this project, and this video is intended as entertainment rather than something to be followed. If you're interested in building your own, I suggest researching the safety requirements for cribs for your area and work backwards from there. Good luck!

Thanks, and congrats! Make sure that before you have him start, that you look up the current safety regulations for baby cribs. When I built this, in the USA, having the sides of the cribs that fold down were not allowed, and some other weird things that I never would have thought of - that's why I didn't go too in-depth with this build or try to provide plans. I know it's been awhile since you posted this but next time use a hole saw for the hole. Just a recommendation. But good job regardless

I did it about three weeks ago. I learned a lot about it on the Woodglut website. Check.

Looks great, I was just wondering in the beginning you mentioned laying down wax paper. What was that for?
I put down the wax paper so the project wouldn't stick to the table. I suppose those big rolls of brown paper would have a similar effect and might be cheaper, but I had the wax paper on hand!
If it was super white wood it might have been maple

I always played it like this: we set up the entire map before starting, but in a "random" manner, meaning, not the exact order which "fits perfectly". This means you might have a few dead ends, but the board will be different every time. And you can make it pretty "balanced"
Just take the clip starting at 1:25 and play it over and over....🤣
Clean it up a little bit and you could have easily sold it for a few hundred bucks, you could probably gotten a couple hundred without cleaning it up.
