Silber Turbos ECU tune for KTM TPI, first ride and brief review

Updated my ECU with a tune from Silber Turbo. Smoother from top to bottom, more low end torque, and the popping is nearly gone. Bike runs the best it ever has and I couldn't be happier with this tune. Especially for the price when compared to a injector relocation kit!

Skinny Ridge Dirt Bike Drone - Grand Junction Colorado
I noted that the spec sheet you were looking at actually said WP explorer fork for the settings. There are different for the exact forks
You think a 6 ft tall rider with taller bars and drop pegs would be comfortable on it? I'm used to my old school husky which is huge, but it's so tall I can't even flat-foot it
@05SVRACER absolutely! Jordan who owns this bike is over 6ft as well and he only changed the bar height.
Excellent !
@Cloud-rp4ev thank you!
Dope!!! I going with next time!!!
@NINE70ENDURO sounds good!
I had for my sx 125 and it was airborn. Defo more pull from mid to top. Awesome pipe!
Have you ever seen a truck go up the first part in your video before it turns into a skinny trail?
@AnthonyTori we have seen side by sides and trucks go up and around the main bowl but never really on top. Maybe an atv would barely fit up there but definitely nothing bigger than that
Was the Slavens spring the same length as stock? Did you have to add preload spacers?
I have a slight knock so I plan on removing and adding preload spacers
That dude really methed up his camper..
@DrewbyDoo glad I caught it on camera or no one would of believed me lol. Pretty wild day
I just bought a 2024 300xcw and cant get full travel out of the fork. It sounds like I might need to remove some oil. Can I take off the handlebars, remove fork caps and remove oil through suction, while leaving forks on the bike?
What’s your weight. Sounds like you should remove springs
Slavens has a spring chart on their website for weight
@@westcomotofilms3865 I'm 180ish and had no problem fully compressing my 2020 stock susp
The new fork on the 24 KTM 300 XCW has an anti bottoming cartridge installed, so they are not going to bottom out unless you hit something super serious and you weigh a crap load.
Is that the shorty version ? And was it worth it
@user-cr9yc1gu2d yes this was the shorty carbon version. The pipe is definitely a little more maintenance but easily worth it for the performance. If anything I think it hurt the low end torque a tiny bit but helped the top end. So really just depends what you’re looking for.
I've done it a few times! Long time ago. Glad to see it still looks the same!
Why did you opt for xact and not xplor im looking to find any differences online but cant find anything
Xact spring forks are on all new ktm. Xplor has been discontinued in the enduro models. Xplor is open cartridge and xact is closed cartridge
@@westcomotofilms3865 nope there are two models i checked on the wp site there is a wp xplor pro 7548 and there is wp xact pro 7548 both closed cartridge and both cone valve thats whats confusing me check if you dont believe me😂
@theocepek yes if you are looking at pro forks from wp there are different options. I was talking about the forks that come on the new bikes. Most the pros I know run 6500 kits in their xact forks. I would get with a suspension guy as they will need to be tuned for your riding type
So question I’m a little heavier of a rider, I’m picking up my new 24’ 300 xcw this week, am I good changing just the fork springs & rear spring at home? Or do I need to take it to shop and let them do the whole works
These bikes seem to be sprung on the heavier side. I would ride it and depending on what speed you plan on riding a your weight you can get springs. It’s pretty simple at home but requires a fork cap wrench and spring tool. May be nice to have a shop do it and help set sag for you.
@@westcomotofilms3865 awesome thank you
I just did mine at home. Bought a 50mm fork wrench on A*zon and it was pretty simple. I weigh 240 so I went with racetech .48. Forks are louder with the new springs. More of a rubbing noise against the inner tube of the fork. I checked the forums and it seems like a common complaint. New springs arent polished like the factory springs. So hopefully they wear in and become factory quiet. Cant hear anything when you're riding anyway. But yeah, it's doable on a '24 300xcw at home.
@@brianjohnson9368did you get from race tech direct and use their find my rate chart. I'm 225 without gear and they recommended .45 for me
Elevator music in a cr 500 video? Not much cr 500 action though
@bobbyskillz14 unfortunately a hole was put in the radiator of the 500 that day almost right away. We do have other 500 videos on our channel though if interested. As for music the selection is fairly limited for non copyright options but we try to find decent stuff.
Great video! How would you say this bike does in deeper sand? (sand trails around edge of dunes)
@chris_collings thanks for the comment! I wouldn’t hesitate to take this bike anywhere and know it would do as good as any other bike in any terrain. I haven’t taken it to sand yet but our dirt gets loose enough to be sand sometimes if that counts lol. I think it’s the best cross between a mx bike and an enduro bike. Best of both worlds
@@westcomotofilms3865 That's good to hear because I bought one and will be picking it up in a week or two. I've only owned 450s, currently the yz450fx which is a great bike but I want to try out the 2ts. I love the Southern Utah stuff which looks very similar to where you ride!
@@westcomotofilms3865 any first mods you recommend before taking it on the trail?
@chris_collings I had a 2017 Honda CRF450RX before these new 2-strokes so sounds like your in a similar spot that I was in. That was a great bike but this one is just as powerful and much lighter. Honestly I don’t think they need to much from the factory. My biggest complaint has been the kill/start switch. They combined them on this bike and I just wasn’t a fan of the design so got one of the Moto minded switches. Other than that I’ve only changed out levers on mine to the Midwest shorty levers. Love those things. I would just make sure if you do get one that the factory makes sure it has the most recent tune in it. I got mine right before they updated the mapping tune and that really helped mine. I’ve considered getting a new mid compression head and ecu kit for even more power but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. It doesn’t need need but I would still like more power lol.
@@westcomotofilms3865 Thanks! Can't wait to ride it. Looks like you have some awesome places over there. Maybe my brother and I will need to drive out and have you show us around 😊
I was riding there a couple of years ago. It's great. Lots of adrenaline rush there.
Whats the point in making a video when you already had it all pulled down?
Because it’s about the fork spring. You should no how to remove the fork and open it, that commonsense
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I'm getting ready to change out the fork springs on my new TE 300 which has the same fork and this was helpful.
What spring did you change to an what’s your weight mate
slavensracing.com/shop/?make=&model=
Slavens racing shows the shock rates from ktm
Can you explain the difference between the two different oil capacities? Basically what is the best way to refill the forks and get the level correct...?
@JamesDeaton-hp5cj one oil capacity is the inner chamber and one is the external chamber. External chamber is the amount you should use for the spring swap
They stopped making it because it was so good people didn’t bother to get their revalve control anymore 😅
😂 so a year is so later I had JBI set my bike up still air fork with their kit and A speed, single track enduro racing style set up and I couldn’t pinch flat a tube if I wanted to. I also can’t bottom it out! The plush tank cause bottom out at higher speed
We use to ride out there about 20 years ago. The video does not show how super steep these climbs are! Great for a big bore bike and smooth with no rocks. I rode my YZ 426 there and still have it, it’s almost done with a restoration. I have a 2022 Beta 300 now for single track.
@powerwagon3731 it’s a pretty iconic hill in this area, we love it! We use it as a warm up now for the even bigger hills out here! Thanks for the comment!
I found out about these tires when I had a friends bike in my garage for some work, never heard of them before but good to know you've had luck with them. Have you seen their sand tire! That thing is gnarly! Also to add my 2 cents, I have fallen in love with the Tusk Recon tires from Rocky Mountain on my 03 YZ250. Great traction in all conditions, especially when wet. Front tire hooks up great too, if you're looking for another cheaper alternative those are my go to tire these days.
Tusk crossbite is even better! It’s in our same link
Nice! The last part "looked" like the Windmill trail, ... OR ... is it one of the single tracks off the cross-over from Bangs to Horse Thief?
@Cloud9 good eye! That is windmill and it was pretty awesome.
Oregon
Sound is one thing. How was the actual performance at low rpm and pinned in 5th ?
@Ron Corey I haven’t been able to get it out yet but I will definitely follow up with how it performs. They say it’s designed as more of a mid to top end power increase but Johnathan already has this pipe and didn’t notice any low end change. He said it revs higher for sure though.
I went from a gnarly to a fatty and am interested in this pipe for even more braaaaaap
@Ron Corey well I took it out for the first time today. I honestly don’t think it affected the low end at all. But the mid to high is definitely increased. It also seems to be more responsive in general. I need to tweak the power valve settings again, it really changed how this thing runs. I will update again once I find a good power valve setting. I can only compare to the stock setup and it was definitely an increase and I’m super happy with it. Hopes this helps!
@@westcomotofilms3865 Hey thanks for the update.
Bravo boys! Kinda wish I could have been there instead of doing half a backflip at Powderhorn.
Who did the wallride at 4:12?
We wish you were there!
Ellsworth
Nicely done, flat tire balls 😂😂
Have to watch out for those!
Not much in the way of a CR500AF, a bunch on that KTM300 though. So where is that CR500 footage?? ain seen it more like 300 KTM footage.
@dahatchery this is definitely a mix. Still a lot of clips with the 500 in this video. We have more 500af videos than this one, feel free to check them out! We plan on doing more this year after some radiator repairs
Wish it was warm and dry enough to ride, I got cabin fever!!!
Exactly why I’ll be shredding Nevada and Arizona next week!
The CR500AF is one nasty beast! I own one converted from an 03 CRF450 roller and a 1988 CR500 engine. I weigh 165lbs. The bike is a wild buffalo, just love it. Im a YZ250 guy and own 2 of them along with an 03 RM250 and 3 Yz125's Lol! never enough.
All awesome bikes! We have a bunch of 2 strokes between our group and love them all! These bikes are all so fun to ride
great video! the music was a little annoying at times but overall good video!
@hassebrasse3827 I appreciate the feedback! This was one of our earlier videos, we are still learning lol. Thanks for watching!!
So I have the 22’ 250SE- on the start button/ map switch when you got rid of that how are you controlling the map switch or did you just delete it and run the wild map all the time
Delete and run the more aggressive map. Most of us don’t use a map switch on any bike
I have this same machine, I love it.
@mitchhead6884 such an awesome machine right! I have a Yamaha nytro now I’m hoping is just as good. We set this one up for my dad to tow a bunch of crap.
hi, I was just wondering how many km/miles do you ride with a full fuel tank.
@SANGER CRUKER I can’t say to be honest. I feel like it does drink fuel fast but doesn’t seem much more than any of our two strokes so hard to say. I’m pretty new to sleds
randomly got this in my recommended, this seems like so much fun man. Can't wait till I get a bike. Keep up the cool content.
@Braden Coleman Thank you kind sir. Riding dirt bikes is the best, nothing else matters when you're out there. That's a good looking truck in your picture by the way!
@@westcomotofilms3865 Yeah I used to ride awhile back but haven't in a long time. Thanks! I see you're a fellow Taco owner as well.

Cool video I would love to hit those hills. I was just doing some similar riding yesterday on a smaller scale out in a quarry in NJ. I grew up riding in gravel pits and love climbing hills. All my buddies want to ride the track but I'm all about climbing hills and jumping. And the best is when you climb a sweet hill and launch at the top.
Hill climbs > track
Seems like you're climbing those hills at about a quarter throttle...maybe and it's just lugging right up. Never rode a 500 2 stroke, 250 was the biggest 2T I have ever ridden, I had 1 and I've ridden a couple more. I was on the back of a YZ 490 when I was a kid. I rode a CRF 450 4T and that had too much power for my needs. I love my little KTM 200 SX. Part of me would love to try a 500 cc out in a place like that for the hill climbs although I think a 250 cc 2T would make it no problem. I don't feel like I would need any more power than a 250 cc 2 stroke but I love my 2 strokes. If I ever got a bike bigger than my 200 I would get a YZ 250 and put a heavier flywheel weight on it to take some of the hit out. The YZ 250 had the mellowest power of any 250 MX bike I have ever ridden plus it comes stock with KYB SSS shocks.
Thanks. If you are ever in western colorado we will share. Don’t be shy! Thanks for the comment and follow for the build videos!
Seems like he's riding it like a thumper, expecting low-end grunt to pull him up out of trouble. Keep that sucker revved.
It makes more low end grunt than any thumper. I race a 300 was just timid as it was my first time on the bike! Thanks for the advice. Check out how we were riding day 2 www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRHAnLdt/
That looks like 'skinny ridge' you opened with? Played on that for years before the airport consumed some of the best rides. Still some great endruo trails that go out West from there.. Before they closed "the black hole" we had cars stopped on the interstate watching us climb to the cliffs on Garfield Mountain, now thinking back probably why they closed it down... Thanks for the video..
