June's Kitchen (Korean Home Cooking)
Добавлен 22 мар 2021
Hi, thanks for dropping by! Join me as I show you what I make for my daily meals here in Korea. Along the way, I'll be sharing with you all kinds of fun facts about Korean food culture, which I hope will inspire you to try for yourself.
Hot Bread for a Cold Day - Delicious Korean Winter Street Food
Street food has a long tradition in Korea, and during the icy winter, hot red bean-filling snacks like the waffle-style bungeo-ppang (‘carp bread’) and steamed bun-style hoppang (‘hot bread) are especially popular. Nowadays you can also buy them in supermarkets with all kinds of fillings. In this video, I’ll take you on a quick tour of both places and show them to you up close!

A Korean Winter Snowscape
Просмотров 128День назад
Hi, everyone. I didn’t have time to make a cooking video this week as I have been battling flu, so here is a video I shot last month of some beautiful winter scenery at our family cabin in the countryside. This is actually where my Kimjang video, showing how we prepare kimchi for the winter, was recorded. I hope you enjoy it - please check back next week for my video on Korean Winter Street Foods!
Korean Beef Shank & Brisket Stew
Просмотров 43514 дней назад
This nourishing, non-spicy stew combines a flavorful broth with boiled beef slices (suyuk), and vegetables served with a sweet-and-savory dipping sauce. Often eaten as a shared dish in Korea, it’s a warm stomach-filler at any time of year!
Egg Pan Skillet Omurice - My Recipe
Просмотров 23321 день назад
Omurice (omelette rice) is an egg roll filled with fried rice and various other ingredients (similar to kimbap). It was introduced to Korea by Japan over a century ago and today there are many Korean-style fillings. In this video, I will show you my own recipe using an egg pan skillet (aka rectangular frying pan or 'egg pan') that was designed especially for this dish!
A Royal Stir-fry (Japchae)
Просмотров 619Месяц назад
This popular sweet-and-savory dish of stir-fried sweet potato starch vermicelli, beef, and vegetables was once served only in the royal court. Today, it is a filling meal for all, either by itself or as a side to a variety of mains. The preparation is delicate, but the results are delicious!
Sweet, Savory, and Delicious - Andong Braised Chicken (Jjimdak)
Просмотров 118Месяц назад
Said to have been created in a famous market street of Andong, a city in eastern Korea, Andong Jjimdak is a rich and filling braised chicken dish in which the chicken is marinated in soy sauce and cooked with a variety of spices, vegetables and cellophane noodles. Today, it’s enjoyed in restaurants all across the nation. Here’s how to make it in your very own home!
Making Kimchi for the Winter - The Ancient Tradition of Kimjang
Просмотров 1 тыс.Месяц назад
Last weekend, my family and I spent the day making lots of kimchi for the winter. This annual household tradition, known as ‘kimjang’ (or ‘gimjang’) goes back centuries in Korea, and is even listed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. In this video, I’ll explain all about kimjang, plus show some of the highlights of the day!
Delicious from Every Angle - Triangle Kimbap
Просмотров 460Месяц назад
A big go-to snack at Korean convenience stores, Triangle (samgak) kimbap is a single-serve version of the roll-style kimbap I’ve shown on my channel previously, and the preparation method is a little different. In this video, I’ll show you how to make it plus the side dish that Koreans love to eat with it! ▶ Want to make regular (rice roll) kimbap? Check out my video here: ruclips.net/video/MkN...
The Power of Perilla - Korea’s Multipurpose Mint
Просмотров 842 месяца назад
In Korea, the perilla plant ('deulkkae' in Korean) is a really versatile cooking ingredient. We use its essence for cooking oil, its seeds for powders and garnishes, and its leaves ('kkaenip') for wraps. In this video, I'll show you just how versatile perilla is and also reveal my own Perilla Oil Pasta recipe!
Stir-fried Blood Sausage (Sundae Bokkeum)
Просмотров 1492 месяца назад
In Korea, blood sausage (sundae) is made with pig intestine, vermicelli, pig blood, and glutinous rice, giving it a lighter flavor than the Western version. This dish takes the popular local snack and turns it into a filling stir-fry (bokkeum) with vegetables, spices, and other intestinal parts beloved of Korean food culture.
This Traditional Korean Pumpkin Porridge is Perfect for Autumn
Просмотров 892 месяца назад
If you’re looking to add an international flavor this Thanksgiving, or just want a great, nourishing cold-weather soup, hobak juk (pumpkin porridge) is for you. Made with pumpkin (or squash), rice flour, and other ingredients, its lightly-sweet taste makes ideal at any time of the day.
Spicy Stir-fried Pork with Vegetables and Rice (Jeyuk Deopbap)

A popular item at restaurants in Korea - especially at lunchtime - this easy-to-make dish covers all the essential food groups in one bowl. It combines sliced pork stir-fried with greens in a moderately-savory chili sauce and served on a bed of rice (deopbap).
Pancakes with Syrup Filling - Hotteok (Instant Mix Version) #Korean-style pancakes
Просмотров 2352 месяца назад
As the weather grows cold in Korea, we start thinking of delicious hot snacks, and hotteok (pancakes with syrup filling) is a street-food favorite that goes back more than a century. In this video, I’ll show you how to make it with a batter mix that you can buy online. Plus, I’ll show you how you can serve it with a delicious modern twist!
Roast Pork with Soybean Paste
Просмотров 2793 месяца назад
This is a fusion dish I created right here in this kitchen - pork roasted in a Korean soybean paste (doenjang) marinade and served Korean-style with salad. This is a great recipe if you’ve bought some Korean paste from the supermarket and are looking for new things to do with it!
Korea’s Favorite Army Base Stew - Budae Jjigae
Просмотров 4183 месяца назад
Although this spicy stew traces its humble origins back to the Korean War (‘budae-jjigae’ literally means ‘army base stew’), it’s now a more sophisticated and popular dish that you can find in restaurants. Enjoy it as a side with drinks or as a meal in its own right. Best of all, it’s easy to make!

Dear June. Thank you for your great videos. I'm very happy that you explained everything in such detail!!! I'll make it the same way, but I'll leave out the ham because I don't eat meat. I wish you a wonderful day and all the best. Best wishes☘️✨🌺 Nadine

삼각 김밥을 좋아합니다. 안에 넣어야 할 재료가 너무 많습니다.

I'm glad I helped your understanding of Korean cooking. Thanks!😀
I really liked the way you explained the different types of fish cakes and what they are for, and the way you explained the words on the packages. This is very helpful for foreigners. Sometimes shopping for Korean foods in the grocery store can be overwhelming, so this is very good.
I'm glad I was able to help you. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have about Korean food or food culture!
Wow Kimbab saranghe wow it’s my favorite thank you so much for sharing

@@JunesKitchen2023 Thank you for sharing. 🙂Good health to you.
The recipe looks nice and easy. What flavor is the broth tablet?
The basic ingredients of the tablet are various kinds of seafood and vegetables. Savory but not salty. It gives the broth a rich seafood taste without a strong fishy smell.
I Will try to cook it i love this menu , since i went to Korea last year
I'm glad you already know this dish and love it! I hope you enjoy samgyetang you make.
It looks yummy!!
My favorite snack is a bit of kimchi or a bit of smoked salmon on kim.
I'm glad you're already enjoying gim. I like eating gim with tuna sashimi.
👌👌
Trying this tomorrow looks delish! And also respects instant ramen - cheap, easy, filling.
