Nice kit for it's age but Tamiya blew it with the intakes big time. Aftermarket intakes are needed and are costly and are a pain to install. Tamiya's decal's are printed by themselves, not Cartograph and are known to be overly thick. They could have done a better job on such a large scale kit for a company known for it's superb quality models. This is just my view on this one kit. Cheers.

You can't beat Tamiya for its engineering, perfectly fitting together ( pieces) , detailed yet not cluttered like other Chinese model makers, Tamiya's easy to follow instructions, and personally, the best box art.

My auld man had lots of various ww1 ,ww2 model tanks and half track vehicles etc from must ahve been about 60s/70s id gues .some had AA batterys you could put in for it to move if memory serves right

Why 1/35? Tamiya is why. They started it, and it caught on. Really ditto for 1/48 armor as well.

I find armour modelling is great if you like German WW2 or Shermans! British tanks not so much☹️.

I mostly do aircraft, but have picked up a few tank kits. One thing I found with tanks is they are a lot more forgiving in the building and painting. Being constantly surrounded by dirt and debris make them great starters to learn how to weather.

The scale on this model is so bad it looks like one of those egg shaped satirical kits

I have the HobbyBoss 1/18 Huey and I love it. All I hear are ramblings on how it’s just a toy. Too many complainers and whiners. Just build it and enjoy it. If you don’t like it then don’t buy it!

'It holds its own against the best Tamiya kits'....Absolute BS!!! It is no more than a toy. The panel fit is terrible and the level of detail is woeful. Rose tints come to mind.

This video was unnecessary, it should have been a podcast (no video, no images). Just constructive Criticism, not a rant. Only 2 views are shown, front and a quick side shot. That’s it. I’m not familiar with kits at this scale, but by the looks on the video, details appear out of scale. Gaps appear to be on the leading edge of the starboard wing, drop tanks. The pitot tubes are way out scale. Actually, pretty much everything. The “window” for the Night Attack FLIR is horrible. Cooling intakes on top of the wing, the LERX are way out of scale. It gives the impression the kit is based on an oversized toy…..🤦. Anyways, I’ll search the net and see if I can get a better view (review) of the kit. Thanks anyways. Cheers

To be honest, for a while I've been looking at and built many of the kits reviewed here, including this Harrier which is one of the models I want to build next. You always produce a great review and I'm thankful for that knowing that there is someone that can give me the right information. Thanks Mike!

One that you forgot to mention is. Does it come with a pilot.

it looks lie the underwing tanks have gaps at their "nose" is that gap or is that paint/decals? Same with the leading edge of the right wing (screren left) and some other places. Not sure if this is a kit issue, a builder issue, or a video issue - or a combination of teo or more of these. But I'd be wary of this kit unless I saw a better review/pics.

I have mine. This model is my dream kit. Improvements in scratch in the cabin and other areas and it remains the best of the Harriers. The Harrier at that scale just makes it even more real. Size does matter Wow!!!

Most modellers will investigate and find out Hobby Boss has used the sprue parts from the Merit International toy planes to make their kits. With low part counts and less detail there is hesitation in buying them. I built the Hobby Boss 1/18 FW190 A5. It was an amazing kit to enhance and add to. Mine is posed in flight with a pilot figure on a custom stand with a motorized propeller eliminating the need for detailing open landing gear bays, hatches or cockpit. A lot of the work went into outer surface modifications. The result can be the most impressive FW scale model of all plastic kits available.

Hi there, nice channel, lovely F18 you have! ❤ I recently bought a 1/32 Bf109 F4 Trop to be build as Marseilles plane. After inspecting the kit, I discovered it was in fact a G2. And not a very good one at best. So I ended up using a trusted Hasegawa (Revell), using only the sandfilter and spinner/prop from the Trumpeter kit to create Marseilles plane. I did build the kit without said filter and with a Revell prop and will give it a 3/5 as such. The decals provided with the kit are unusable since they are basically transparent. There are PE parts provided for the canopy that make no sense and would look ridiculous if installed. Same goes for overall cockpit construction. Surface is much better with nice rivets and panellines. Kit goes together without problems or gaps. Fit is exellent. So there is that.

Hi! I was hoping someone in the comment section could help me with my concern. My white and blue wire that connects to my track (from KATO) has a little plastic cover over the end of the wire where you plug the wire into the powercab. How do I take that plastic cover off?

Nice video, however Trumpeter got lazy (as per usual unfortunately) and basically copied the F and added a few, but not all Growler bits (sort of). They undersized the ALQ-218 pod (hotdogs on the end of the wings), left out the SATCOM antenna and LOW Band ALQ-99 pod completely and kept the F’s straight leading edge (the Growlers is notched). I honestly don’t understand why they couldn’t just do it right, it’s not like there isn’t a ton of data available on a Growler online. They even added the extra sprue with the high band ALQ-99 pods on it, so why not do all the parts needed to make it proper? Other than that, it goes together OK and when done looks sort of like a growler so if you’re happy with that, it will be fine for you and look good on top of the bookcase! I am not usually “that guy”, but the avoidable shortcuts Trumpeter took on this particular model are so egregious I had to say something. Keep up the good work!

Hello love your video I have brought three trumpeter kits one for a single seat and 2 Kits of of a 2 seater they told me it is very challenging the bottom fuselage is not easy to put together so he used Krazy glue..

Totally agree, Mike and glad you had the enjoyment/experience with Tamiya's best engineered jet kit. I am building three, all will be in Aggressor paint schemes with two posed in flight on custom stainless steel stands. Your reviews on the Trumpeter 1/32 F-35s were helpful as well. Collecting upgrades for a future 'C' kit.

I used Bachmann smoke fluid and the unit does not smoke. I am following the instructions, but for some reason it's still not working. Have other people used Bachmann smoke fluid before with good results, or do I need another type of smoke fluid?

Trumpeter has a few that screw together too. The mig 29k 1/32 being one. It really makes a big difference in the fit. I wish all would do that. What I like about this kit, is the fact that the fuselage doesn't have a seam down the middle where sometimes even after sanding and scribing u can tell there was a seam there if u know what ur looking for. Even on pro built models. But this tamiya kit, has a whole fuselage, and the seam is on the sides. So much easier to blend and hide. Any of the tamiya F4 1/32 scale kits, are the absolute best, as far as F4 models go. Worth the money!

This stuff is all it's cracked up to be. I use the "Big Boy" scent for my MTH locomotives and static Seuthe smoke units.
