Uploaded 18 YEARS AGO
The little train that could but literally didn’t fucking want to
This footage is really over 30 years old
2:29 👉 in the pocket.
That's what I'm talking about
I can believe live in maxwell is recorded, I need more of this
Fuck these guys were good wow
Bob was such an un-rock star, which made him the coolest ever.
the anti-hero ?
Soo cool to see more footage from this show!
This was the last TRUE punk band... They really didn't give a shit. If they sucked, cool... But if they could throw off a bunch of fanboys/girls, even better... Christ, they even trolled MTV, 30 years before "trolling" was a thing, and they STILL got their videos played...
idiots act like geniuses
Anybody remember their SNL appearance with Bob in some god awful culottes. Was said they wouldn't be invited back. I'm thinking this sounds good, thinking it's Slim Dunlap but sure enough it's Bob! He'd be gone by year's end. Thank you for this upload!
Whoever said they sound like shit is crazy, that whole thing sounded incredible.
+alexandra dewinter i'm the biggest matts fan ever and this just ain't right at all
The sound isn't good but the performance is fine. Bob's sounding like the Steve Howe (YES) protege that he was.
They don’t know shit. I agree they’re on fire. I bet it sounded fuckin incredible there. That’s at maxwells in Hoboken, I used to live on Washington st. I bet it was so loud, you can tell.
They used to deliberately sabotage concerts. That was the punk way. They got fired for this one. Probably wanted to.
+Paul Farnham Huh? You referring to the issues SNL had with them and their performance of this song? Otherwise, fired from where?
I'm genuinely lost by Farnham's comment as well.
Drunk or not , sound like shit. just sayin.
+itillbeme1 They weren't Justin Beiber, they were a hard rockin' band that didn't rely on finesse. They didn't need to. You no like then good, just means more for me.
+itillbeme1 prob is yer a fucking idiot
+itillbeme1 The just sayin comment is beyond dopey. Redundancy. We know you're just sayin. No coincidence it usually follows something really, really dumb.
How many live shows from the mid 80's filmed with primitive equipment have you heard on RUclips that sound great? This sounds much better then most camcorder shows from any band from the 80's.
hey loser I will be around for 100 years, and you are already in the ether douche bag.
I saw 'em in Queens '14. They're playing fast shit live and recording a new album. Can't fucking hardly wait. They're a real band again.
Best Damn Band In The Land
Just saw them in Boston. Still great.
Minnesota rocks
they werent shitfaced yet. im sure at the actual showm they stopped playing in the middle of this and otehr songs, threw their instruments at the crowd, berated and degraded each other, and were completely out of tune. in other words, a classic, great replacements show
Don't Tell A Soul and All Shook Down are both fantastic records.......
If you go to a Replacements show expecting a "great show" in the traditional sense every time then you don't understand the Mats. I was at the aforementioned shows........and loved them no questions asked. You never knew what you were gonna get is part of what makes them the greatest rock and roll band ever.
Greatest band ever.
Exactly! I just turned 50 and it hasn't sunk in yet, either. I grew up in WI, went to college at UWEC, saw the Replacements several times in MN and WI during early 80s, moved to Florida with my boyfriend and we saw them many more times in FL. Damn I miss them. Every show was a life altering event. And Paul was always the greatest guy to have a drink with ever. At one show they were opening for Tom Petty and Paul got me a back stage pass. I just ran across that the other day.
I'm only 27 and the Kinks are one of the first bands I ever heard as a kid. Then I discovered these guys only a year ago. Music is shit these days. There's no such thing as rock anymore really.
i cant believe it, im reading the comments a guy writes im 50 and i just turned 50.[ but it hasnt settled in yet maybe never will], but it doesn't seem that long ago i was in college listening to this. Thank god I had freinds that were hip and showed me this because there was so much crap out. I LOVE the mats great band. is any body reading this? I HAVE TO GO BYE
That's a great comparison! Or correlation. Or... whatever. I totally get it. The 'Mats are still,. in my book, one of the greatest rock and roll/punk bands ever. I echo your sentiment: thank you, boys!
Saw them at cbgb and open for Keef at the Meadowlands Great band that should but never will be in the R&R Hall of fame. But I'm sure they don't give a shit
this is what it's all about. there's a reason that this song is quoted by everyone who ever quoted anyone
Shit, they sound great here.
there is cool documentary here on youtube called Color Me Obsessed , it's 2 hours and chronicles the replacements from beginning to end.... :)
The infamous Ritz shows in the summer of 86. Paul's broken wrist was a huge turning point. They were so good, they played everything, sloppy covers you name it. We screamed for Summertime Blues and they did it. I'll never forget the bombastic howl of band and crowd when the opened with "Bastards of Young". It was like our collective angst had found its proper vehicle. And what a ride it was... Great stuff.
What about The Clash, Stones?
8 assholes and counting....
makes it better!
The 'm
me neither, dude. except for the beatles.
No still smaller clubs until Bob left. You could see them at the Ritz or even smaller clubs in 86'.
The Band that showed me what fun playing guitar and singing could be with no pretensions, miss ya Bob Stinson a good buddy of mine when in NYC. And Paul long rime no see- come out east we miss ya!!
PS, get well Slim!!
The replacements are proof that there are great bands with great music that fail to get recognized. This band wrote the soundtrack to my youth!!!
Bobby on guitar!
This takes 240p to a new level. Fucking awesome band
anybody have the studio version of this? not that this one doesn't fuckin rock, but i want both!
Hootenanny!
God I miss the Mats.
Spot on!
How do Paul's vocals sound so good despite being so sloppy? Love it
@tzuellig you are fucking lucky. I will never see something the same.
This is great, but what's happening is Paul is thinking beyond....they rest of the band is in the moment. Especially Bob Stinson. ...RIP
