Never No Turnin' Back
Recorded at Sigma Sound Studios, Philadelphia sometime during 1974 and mixed at Record Plant, New York. Two versions of this song were recorded during the Young Americans sessions. This is the 1st version (now regarded as a demo) recorded during initial sessions. Although this was a completed track in it's own right, a 2nd version (which made it onto the album) was then recorded at Sigma later in 1974, and re-titled 'Right'.
This track has previously appeared on several bootlegs including the Absolute Rare CD albeit in a much poorer sound quality.

It included some of the most spectacular and expensive stage effects and scenery ever seen, even by today's standards. In September of the same year,...

Love this version
The star that burns twice as bright burns half as long - and you, Starman, have burned so very, very brightly. You were the soundtrack to my life, my inspiration, and you gave me the confidence to be myself. Thank you. I miss you more than I know how to say. Rest in Power. Rest in Peace.

I love this song .Wow, it's from 1968 but I heared the first time in 2020 and it is brilliant. RIP LEGEND DAVID BOWIE 1947-2016💝🎶
Out of words... the song is a pure piece of a genius songwriting.... And The voice of the man, come on...
En español tata es papá o abuelo, seguro que BOWIE supo que tata era adiós cuando fue al retiro budista. Pero son conjeturas 😂😁
Perhaps the mention of a blowjob has something to do with its rejection.....
Lovely to hear. A bit different version than the one he did for Toy later. My musical hereo since heard in 69 Space Oddity.
Very nice song 👌👌👌👌 Invisited an lv that was given in India and a host said ta ta and she said that means bye And reminded me this song London bye, ta ta. It is a coincidence maybe or not ….. I will do this song soon on my RUclips chnl 🤗🤗🤗
Everyone in England used to say ta ta
Thank you David Rober Jones. FFS I miss you so much. Luv on ya from Italy. XXX
Why? Why are you removing great musician’s work?
Thanks to people outside who have liked my comments referring to David Bowie. He was truly my idol. I loved everything he did and I saw him so many time in concerts, watching and loving all those changes and individual persona. I appreciate and welcome every style of David Bowie. What a star he was! There will no one like him anymore. Rest In Peace !
Love Bowie and love this so much
Wonderful
Kinda sounds isolated
Thank you so much for uploading this!
This, with The Hype, would have been a decent MWStW track. Ronno's guitar would have been perfect for this.
This one's a tad Van Morrison-ish...
I've got this as a 'b side' from the Heathen era, but it's nice to hear other versions.
It would fit nicely on Hunky Dory. I wish I could hear Ronno on it.
Never heard this beautiful song/lyrics! before. How many songs did Bowie write in his entire life, non-releases and demo's as well. Somebody? Thx anyway 🧡
Where did you even find this with the same quality as the official single release..
There`s a man back a-ways Who believes at where he is And there`s a girl Up ahead who says she knows And the street overflows With the folk who understand But for the guy who can`t be seen He`s the Shadow Man And the Shadow Man is close at hand Take a turn and see his smile Made of nothing but loneliness Just take a walk and be a friend To the Shadow Man You can call him Joe, you can call him Sam You should call and see who answers For he promises to come running, guided by the truth But the Shadow Man is really you Look in his eyes and see your reflection Look to the stars and see his eyes He`ll show you tomorrow, he`ll show you the sorrows Of what you did today You can call him foe, you can call him friend You should call and see who answers For he knows your eyes are drawn to the road ahead And the Shadow Man is waiting round the bend Oh, the Shadow Man Ohooooo oooo Shadow man, shadow man It`s really you, it`s really you, it`s really you He`s the shadow man Oh yeah Shadow man
Very good. This song should have found its way onto an album.
I was just looking up this song. It was a bonus track on the 2002 Heathen album, and now it's on the posthumous release Toys with two versions. Nice to hear the different versions
David was a brave man and he understood also what it is to be a shadow man
where did you get this?
Long live the memory of the late, great David Bowie. xoxo The Clarences
Who would believed that David Bowie pass away, but his songs are immortal just like him. I like this song because of it’s lyrics and the seventies sound. Bowie had an unique voice and style which I really loved so much. RIP !
you are not alone
Hey!....B, he was human, we all cannot live forever.....
Excellent! What about Track #1 and Track #10 ?
Bowie is a slightly built man, but those hands! Years later he grew into them. God he was so good-looking!
The original with Bowie has Marc Bolan on guitar Check it out.
This is the original from March 1968. The version with Marc Bolan on guitar is from 1970
dream Thank you for the correction. Wouldn’t be the first time I got something ass-backward. Lol.
a favorite
Thank You for sharing all of this. For true fans
Bowie was an uber star in the 70's and now he is shining eternally with the stars. God bless him for bringing so much joy to so many people!
I just discovered the song .. thanks Khaled, my Shadow men
