There has to be expansion joints. That's what you're seeing between the sections. Basics of bridge design.

The long-term plan is to build a second twin-track bridge on the footprint of the old bridge (when funding is available). It’s not really in the right spot for train storage, too remote of a location, and they don’t want slow- moving trains entering or exiting there and eating up the capacity of this twin-track bottleneck

Hello gents, that would be Wall C (1 of 4 walls being constructed on the Portal North Bridge project) It's located on the west side of the project in Kearny, N.J. adjacent to National Water Main. It consists of pre fabricated wall panels along with a low density cellular concrete as a backfill to provide a sturdy foundation for the cut in from the old track to the new alignment. #civilengineering #onlocation #scottmaasmedia

Yeah I know nothing about construction so I do not know their modus operandi. Hopefully things continue to move at as quick a pace or quicker.

I really appreciate the complement. My goal is to film the same location each quarter. Hopefully that'll provide the necessary information as to how far this project has moved.

Yeah this is for a bridge on the Northeast corridor that leads into NYC. The old bridge opens too frequently and gets stuck causing delays way down here to DC. I LOVE this Mini4. The upgraded sensors are awesome and I haven't run into anything yet (so far).

I think all the new Acelas will be on the tracks by the end of 2024 which leaves the old ones to retire by then.

Unfortunately I was unable to do that because it is not in revenue service.

They needed to make the trains backward-compatible (!!!) with the NEC. Sounds ridiculous, right? Yes. I agree.

@@TheRailwayDrone canada is probably *worse* because we dont have anything track to backwards compatible it to, our new train sets were delivered on freight tracks so they will work on freight tracks

I can't do anything about that. I still like the interiors. I just wish the coaches were flush with the power cars like it's sister in France.

This project has only been in the construction phase for 7 years. Mind you, any other developed country would have finished it by now, but you also have to take into account that your fellow citizens have been fighting against progress as they have tried to stop the project at every turn. By the way, there are more than just viaducts and half a bridge. Plenty of videos on youtube show how much work has been done. It's really cynical and unfair to claim this project is a waste of time and has no progress, when there are construction workers who get up daily to build this project so that people like you can ride it in the future. You should be more excited than you are now. YOUR railway will be a modern high speed railway unlike anything we have on the East Coast; we're still riding on a 20th century railway, while waiting for a new train that had to be made "backward compatible" with the Northeast Corridor. Cheer up. The CAHSR project will be a great system, and I am certain Californians will be proud when it's complete.
