Welcome to Drifting Squirrel! My name is Jorge and I'm the Human behind the most 'Petrolhead' Squirrel you have ever met.
Why a Squirrel? Because I love peanut butter and who the hell doesn't like Squirrels?!
Why Drifting? Well, let's just say I have love for going sideways.
The main focus of this channel is Automotive content but, I may throw in the occasional motorcycle or airplane video. Heck, worst case scenario this will become another food vlog channel.
I'm from Portugal but I do plan to expand my content to other countries as much as possible so, if you have a car that you'd like me to review, feel free to contact me!

POV: BMW e46 M3 - intake and exhaust noise
The other day I went to test drive my car to check how bad my rubbing at the back was, and decided to record the little drive. I also put a mic on the intake and exhaust to record the true noise this car makes. The sound you're hearing is more similar to the one of a carbon intake, but I don't hear that inside the cabin at the moment.

BMW e46 M3 - Manual F10 M5 "Short Shifter" Mod - DIY

On this video I'll show you how to apply the e46 M3's gaiter onto a manual M5 F10 gear lever. It's a quite doable job, with very little tools required. You just need a bit of patience and some coffee. This is a nice alternative to aftermarket levers, if you want to get a slightly shorter shifter, while retaining OEM parts, and the illuminated gear knob. BMW M5 F10 Manual Gear Knob part number -...
BMW e46 M3 Öhlins Road & Track - SUPER UNSCIENTIFIC First Impressions

In this video I compare my "OEM" e46 M3 CSL spec suspension to the Öhlins Road & Track Dual Flow Valve system. My initial idea was to show the differences between the two setups, via the camera movement and my feedback but, a combination of lack of brains (because I was going much faster with the Öhlins VS the CSL suspension) and lack of overall awareness, the differences can only be understood...
BMW e46 M3 Sunday Drive and Coffee Run

Do you ever find yourself wanting to go on drive, but you just keep postponing it? I did that. However, last Sunday I decided to wake up early and take that well deserved drive. It was truly a pleasure to drive these roads and to really enjoy the M3, without any cars on the road. And to top it all off, the nearly obligatory coffee and complimentary egg tart at the end.

POV e46 M3 - BMW ///M Driving Experience - Estoril | Track Day - 29/10/2020

On the 29th of October 2020, I went to a BMW M Driving Experience event. There were mainly M2's and M4's on track, and then there was my e46 M3. Being the oldest M present was quite a sight, but that didn't prevent me from having fun. This was my second track day with this car and, on the first, my brake fluid cooked. I have since filled it up with Castrol SRF and installed BF stainless steel l...

If you think this car is a 🐖, wait till you see the new AMG GT and M5 😁
I know. I guess they are more like a planet of their own 🌎
Heyyy Português Ehehe surpresa agradavel, grande video
I have a 2011 320d wiht the big navi aswell. How did you manage to get the tumbnail to show when listening to music? Is it Spotify or downloaded music? Talking about what shows at 11:57
Is it the CIC or CCC? Only the CIC will get pictures from songs over Bluetooth if I remember correctly. And I had the most advanced BT option on the car, as I do think there were two tiers
Thanks for review
Ignore the complaints - it's refreshing to be spoken to like an adult. You avoid the car review clichés, for example, the obligatory maniacal laugh on acceleration and suchlike. Keep up the good work, man. (PS I don't know where you get the opening music from, but I'd be happy to contribute a piece for another video).
Thank you for the feedback. It’s much appreciated
This is a great review! I would love a follow up video now that you have had some time with the suspension and have had a chance to try some different setups.
I gotta do a video on this 🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@DriftingSquirrelplease do! I’m waiting to decide if I should fit the Öhlins on my daily e46 m3 in the pursuit of improving the drive comfort and handling and your driving ‘attitude’ is exactly the same as mine so would love to hear your opinion!

What type seats are those
Regular e46 M3 seats with cloth
@@DriftingSquirrel how’d you get it stitched on the seats? Might be a dumb question but those seats are fire I found some fabric that I want to use
What kind of seats are those?
Nada melhor que uma sunrise run na Arrábida, pena a malta ser toda preguiçosa e nunca se querer juntar para ir 😅
Awful launch on that M3, my pre-LCI stage 1 330ci starts faster than that... skill issue.
Not really. The M3 did around 5 seconds to 100kph which is what BMW announced.
I have this setup on a Miata. They're quite good, but not the best (for the miata). I was limited by TUV certification. If it was today, I might have gone for the KW setup, although they are much, much heavier.
I can’t comment on whether these are the best or not, especially since that will vary based on what you want to do with the car, but I can vouch for the fact that they’re very well engineered and the dampening is very sophisticated/expensive feeling, allowing the car to behave super well on secondary roads with bumps, track, normal driving etc
Tckilne koni dampers sounds the way to go
Looks like they cover the spark plus so would have to remove them for servicing.
You think these crash bars are for a 1250?
@@DriftingSquirrel my bad, I didn't know the new trim came in 2017. I thought it was with the 1250. Do you service the bike yourself?
@Nomad-Drifter I do not service it myself no
Muito bom, very good review. When driving corners in this C4 do you feel and miss the PTV of the C4S 992 ? Obrigado
I can't say that I missed anything mid corner. It's quite a balanced car tbh. Although I'd 100% go for a non AWD version
Nice work buddy...hope you are doing well❤
please stop with the typing sounds while pushing closed captions...
It’s a mechanical keyboard bud
Your music urged me to drive a nail through my head. WHY do you want to END your viewers?????? I HAD to stop watching and DISLIKE this video. Filth. STOP with music already!!!!!!
My rattling was where the leather touches the back window brake light, basically the whole back dash! I leather wrapped 2 old square key fobs and symmetrically placed them on both sides of the brake light
Como é que consultas os consumos dessa forma?
Uma aplicação chamada Road Trip. Eu introduzo todos os depósitos que encho
Have you sold it ? :D
I did, and to someone who had seen my video also 😁
Beautiful road, amazing car :P, what camera setup is this I'd like to replicate it if you dont mind.
Thank you 😎. Used my GoPro Hero 9 Black, with ND filter and settings adjusted for proper motion blur
@@DriftingSquirrel what about the mounting, it's in a perfect position. And thank you for sharing.
I just used a suction cup that I bought on Amazon. It’s quite popular and relatively inexpensive
I'm looking at buying an e92 320d myself. I must say this video is GREAT! Awesome work on both info and presentation. Keep it up!
Thank you 🙏🏼
Hi mate. Does the car vibrate on idle? I remember the e46 320cd had this issue.
Hey! I remember that vibrations got more noticeable with usage, but it never vibrated a lot. The n47 is smoother than the m47 engine
its to die for , literally !
Thumbs up for the "Coffee Optional" on the checklist. Brilliant 🤣
Assume you've fitted this over the OEM M3 broomstick shift lever? I replaced mine with a shorter e60 one but with the current oem m3 knob. I wonder if fitting this knob over the shorter lever would eliminate the leather stretch
I used the F10 M5 full knob. Can’t comment on the e60. I think the stretch could be minimized with more attention on my part. Glueing it not so close to the limits of the plastic gaiter perhaps
Could you not have used your original plastic gater from the M3?
@gavinreeves7293 yes, but I didn’t want to mess with my OEM shifter since it’s in great condition
Bro, you need to be on top gear.
😂😂
Really good videos bro!❤
The difference is in the noise these cars make, the diesel will always sound like a tractor.
Yeah, but the 6 cylinders don’t sound that bad tbh. But nothing like a petrol car
@@DriftingSquirrel I bought an Audi A7 3.0 tdi once cause I thought diesel has come a long way in refinement etc, could not stand how it sounded and sold it a few months later. I don't even like turbo petrol cars tbh, I have a 428i which I am selling in favor of a 325i NA engine. My next replacement is going to be the V8 M3. I dont buy into all these advances for efficiency, they make the car more complicated and ruins their sound and refinement. Naturally aspirated petrol is the way to go in my mind.
V8 M3 is a masterpiece of an engine. Just stay on top of maintenance
Who is this clown. If i was BMW i would get you banned from you tube. You could not sell alcohol to an alcoholic. Muppet!!!
amazing car would you want it tuned with 600?
I’d love it with more power! A tune on this engine would bring it alive
Any issues with the OEM ballast?
None whatsoever
great video I will install mine tomorrow. Any chance you made a movie installing the upper bars/
Why are you pointing the camera at yourself driving while telling us what’s happening? I want to the other car in context. Bad filming makes the video annoying.
Outstanding review thankyou.
Glad you liked it
I had a e46 10 years ago. I loved that car! But had to sell it to start my business. 2 weeks ago I bought a 435d gran coupè. Its no m3, but wow what a car. Does nearly 50mpg on the motorway in comfort. But destroys all the boy racers in their souped up tin cans😂
Yeah! The 35d engine is very powerful, especially when tuned. But it’s far from an S54 in terms of feel
Where you located? Looks nice
these videos would be better if the image were stabilized
is this a good frist Porsche? I came from a Versa hahahahaha
It’s a great first Porsche, especially coming from a Versa 😂. It’s fast but very manageable and safe. It takes care of you tbh
Must be one of the best reviews i have ever seen
Excelente vídeo, parabéns! By the way, subscriber nº 1000! Parabéns :D
Obrigado 😁
Did you get a chance to try more “clicks”? I read an older review where 10F/15R was the sweet spot. Pleaee do another review with this setting please…or your thoughts with other settings. Thank you
I haven't unfortunately. Been waiting on rear brakes for ages, and I haven't driven the car much, since I'm without pads. I will however try them as soon as I get the brakes installed
1 year later, what’s the verdict?
They are a superb coilover! Absolutely well balanced and more comfortable than it was before
@@DriftingSquirrel how many clicks F/R do you think hits that sweet spot in your experience?
@@bootayyshakin I’m using 12F and 10R and I like it
The DB9 has nothing to do with 007.Aston Martin does.
Yes yes, I’ve been told of my utter cockup
Nice review. I’m pondering the same set up. You seem impressed in the way I think I’d be, I hope. Less crashy, more composure and quality to the ride.
Thank you 👍🏼. I’m quite happy with the quality of the suspension yes
Id love to know how it feels with the sofest settings
I’d also love that but I haven’t gotten to it yet 😅
Thanks to you, I’m on an oem plus journey with my e46 m3. I’m currently upgrading the head unit to Xtrons and sound system to bavsound.
That’s always a pleasure to hear! Be strong as you see your bank account dive into very dark realms 😎
What a totally useless review…………..
Nice review, as a M3 E46 owner equipped with these Ohlins , I am a bit disappointed by them tbh... I tried several setup already and I find these coilers way way too stiff for the road. Except if it is super flat. The car copes maybe well with bumps dynamically but the level of stiffness is just annoying, and you pray before hitting a slight hole...according to the BMW specialist who fitted this ,a KW V3 would be more compliant on the road (Ohlins road and track... it says tack 🙂) . I have about the same setup as you but I will have to try to soften the hydraulics even more because that is just a disaster... The "problem" would be the spring rate, and the gas pre charge inside the damper. Then as you mentioned, I had the same problem, for the front I am almost at the max height of these coilovers , otherwise with the standard setup I would remain planted at the first speed bump. It says everything about the destination of these coilers... Now the positives, a car much more planted and precise and stable when cornering or drifting .But you need a nearly perfect road...
Thank you for your comment! I'm yet to do a full review on these, but I've had some time to experience them, and I'm happy with the end result, very much so. I'm still running 12F and 10R, and I can safely say that it deals with bumps and creases on the road very well. Perhaps you had the mindset that it would be super comfy. I know I did a little bit, but what I began to understand was the sophistication of dampening. It now deals with imperfections very nicely, and (in my case) more comfortably than before. The car is skipping less and the rear end is more planted. As I have it now, it's harder to get it sideways, because of the amount of grip, as I need to make the rear end a bit more stiff I think, but I haven't tried it yet. I don't know which roads you're driving on, but I can say that I'm happy with my suspensions' breath of ability. About the ride height, to me it's dumb... I'm riding on full height at the front, which will limit the adjustment that you can make, and will reduce droop travel. I'm running lower than my OEM CSL suspension, but now by much. I don't hit speed bumps or anything to be honest, but I'd like the to be more "headroom". I know a company makes a spacer, to raise the position where the sock sits, effectively raising the car, but I will not try it, at least I don't have the need currently. I'm sorry to hear that you're not happy with your Ohlins setup, but I think that it's more on the comfort side of things.
@@DriftingSquirrel Hi, thanks for your reply, yes it is more on the comfy side. The road here in Belgium are not really good, I was expecting something more compliant especially with the "DFV", but I will soften it a bit more and continue to look for a nice setup for my liking...I was coming from a KW street comfort on a BMW 130i ( last experience with coilers).I still need to fix my diff which just collapsed after being rebuilt 9000 kms ago...
@@Gaara_du-desert. Ahhh the SC must be really nice. You're now in a mindset of that type of coilover. Perhaps that has had an impact also. I wish you the best of luck to get the suspension to a point that you like and enjoy it.
Again. This is one of the very best 992 introductions in the net. I like your explanations.
Thank you so much for the kind words 😁
I have a 435d Gran Coupe and my previous car, a remapped F30 335d was mapped to 394bhp, and would leave M3s with no problem. I've left the 435 as standard for now, although probably not for much longer 😁
