    Thats why people dont need to shoot crazy weight speed means more especially for reaction time of animals. And what means even more than that is having your bow tuned and having that arrow coming out perfectly straight,otherwise the penetration suffers dramatically when arrow hits on an angle. Personally i shoot 425 grains and blow thru everything everytime, even shot under 400 grains with same results.

    Thanks for the informative video. Do a video using the Black Eagle instinct micro diameter shaft. Same total arrow weights and use both field tips and broadheads. Basically the exact same test but with micro diameter shaft. I believe you will get better penetration with both field points and the broadhead. Greetings from South Africa.

    I really think people think 100-250 grains is some kind of massive change in weight. Go hold a 100 grain bullet and a 200grain bullet in your hand; it really is not much weight. It is not all that different especially at arrow speeds. That’s why you see a difference but not some earth shattering difference.

    Interesting, thanks for posting. We can't argue with physics, the field point penetrations not showing much of a difference may indicate, while we debate the perfect weight, we should be more focused on what's on the end of our arrow and how sharp it is. When the initial hole is opened wider by a broadhead, everything behind the broadhead has less resistance. The sharper the broadhead the more the penetration, given everything else is equal ..... not sure how you could test this, but it would be cool to see, field point vs dull chattered edge broadhead vs relatively "sharp" broadhead vs paper cutting sharp broadhead.

LOL (its only a few years old too) Anyhow if you haven't noticed arrow companies have JUST started building stiffer arrows as a whole, I am using 250 Spine RIP/TKO's I will be getting 200's shortly to see if I can get my rest back to 13/16" Thanks for your video !!

    Idk about the weight of the arrow not mattering for penetration. I did a test at point blank with an arrow basically half a pound and it zipped through all 16 jugs and hit the target another 5 yards or so away. That’s more than twice what the 900 and 550 were getting. I think the weight doesn’t matter as much until there’s a significant increase. Also according to your test I don’t think the range has much effect unless there’s significant arc.

    900 grain with a broadhead!?! Where was that? Man talk about missed opportunities!! 😆. JK of course. Another great vid. Penetration tests are always misleading, I think, because the test medium is either inconsistent OR doesn’t really represent penetration through an animal. So we send an arrow through x” of cardboard or gel (or milk jugs) in search of consistency… To determine something about an animal which is the most inconsistent medium there is… Lord knows I don’t know the answer and I certainly think it’s worth exploring. Just have to try to not overthink the results.

    The most important thing I’ve seen so far is swapping limbs around to make sure they square up as best as they can with the bushings and use the yoke to tune out any lean. There are 2 timing holes on the cam you can advance or retard the cam timing with a few twists of the cable. Low profile vanes can help as there’s not as much sight window contact and making sure the cock vane is square 90 degrees to the riser. Any offset there can cause the vanes to hit the rest or riser. The biggest thing is form and release. A lot of kids like to drive the arrows by pushing the riser left/right on release which definitely does not work out in their favor. Nocking point height should be around 3/8” above center. It’s been a learning process for me coming from compound to my daughter shooting NASP in 4th grade. We’re in our second season and she’s gone from low 200’s at the beginning of last season to shooting 270 this season. Stance, Form, Anchor with 3 contact points, No torque grip, and Steady front arm on release until the arrow hits the target. As for the arrows, they’re way overspined and heavy for the poundage these bows shoot at, so you’ll likely never get a clean paper tune even with a great release. It’s like throwing a telephone pole with a rubber band. Good luck to her this season!

    I'm a NASP coach and have several ki d s consistently shoot in the 280's and 2 of them 290s. Most of that crazy arrow flight is due to a bad release. Also the required NASP Easton N nocks fit the serving too tight which can cause arrows to fly erratic since poundage is so low. Paper tuning with fingers is all but impossible. Or it was for me. Focus on form and release first. Hoped that helped.

    I'm told that NASP forbids using a brass nocking point and carbon arrows are "too dangerous" for kids. I think that it is simply a case of forcing everyone involved in the program to use the same exact equipment no matter what. Easton must be making a ton of money from those 1820 spine arrows, they sell them at Walmart! I see tons of Genesis bows on Goodwills online site, there are tons of them out there. I've gotten a number of them there for less than $50.00 The kids don't need much of a bow to shoot arrows at 15 yards or less.

    @kengunnett2017 17 дней назад

    Just for fun, I set one up with an old school Chck-it target sight, and a Hamskea drop down arrow rest, I can get bullet holes thru paper. With a release I can get them in the gold on a regular target at 20-yards. I use GT 700 spine arrows with 100 or 130-grain points. Tonight, I was shooting some arrows that I made up with only two vanes at the 12 & 6 positions, they worked well and I avoided any clearance issues with the riser. I shot a 271 out of 300 with it on an indoor target. The Easton 1820 arrows are too heavy, switch to the 700 carbons and you will gain 12 inches higher as your point of impact at 20-yards. I never understood why someone thought that giving children aluminum arrows was a bright idea. I was getting decent groups with this setup at 40+ yards indoors with lit nocks it was fun to watch the arrows fly. The bow is a poor design not meant for tuning, and that isn't a bad thing when every kid is forced to shoot the same model. With carbon arrows I think I got 172 FPS vs. 144 for the 1820's. My biggest issue with the Genesis was that I couldn't get ANY arrow rest to move further to the right, I finally added some spacers and moved it further to the rear. I haven't tried the two vane arrows shooting fingers yet, but with a release they would group nice.
