Killer's Guard: An Interview with Henry Lesser, San Diego State University
can you enable close captioning?
Thi video gives me the chills - Historical video of the seperation of families - logan and barrio because of the freeways - The beginning is still here because Barrio keeps changing in modern times, but hoping the punks who write hatred and those moving into and opening stores understand that's not their place,
Larry's list of 100 books has become a sort of bible for me.
Thats my great uncle
Eugene Ray was my environmental design teacher at SDSU in the summer of 1979 or 1980. He was then laying the foundation for his home on Nautilus, which I remember because several students would help him with that work. I absolutely adored that class He was an amazing and memorable teacher.
Underrrr the briiidddggggeee!!
Muchas gracias, Sonia Lopez.
I'm in there somewhere...Flute.

The sister who replied to an earlier post was the administrator in the 80’s and 90’s. I know her well. Her recollections are valuable and trustworthy.
I'm a 17 year old high-schooler who needs to finish his easy "find all coterminal angles" homework. Why the fuck am I watching this? lol *although I'm glad I am, this is pretty awesome.
The talk starts at 7:55 (Although the Thanks are good and necessary) :)
I contacted the camp for information about this event, and they wrote back. From one of the Sisters: "We rented the Camp to a group of Hispanics for a weekend, because we wanted to be of service to them the same as to any other group. However, after the weekend, they refused to leave, and stayed an extra week, demonstrating outside the Camp nightly with candles. The reason is that Activists from Arizona had come to San Diego and organized the group to demonstrate. They wrongly thought that the Camp belonged to the Catholic Diocese and that the Diocese owed it to them for a Hispanic Cultural Center. The reality is that the Camp was and is completely independent and is owned by the Sisters of Social Service, who are financially independent from the Church. This is from my memory. Sister Merita"
Rest in Peace Earl. May your life live on in the memories of the Chargers fans that were fortunate enough to watch you play. #GOBOLTS!
thanks for sharing this
My dad. 1999.
Chicano power!!!!!
i accidentally scrolled down into the comments here and was pleased to read this. glad to see someone who comprehends the context of his life and doesn't write him off completely. he did many terrible things, yes. but he was also a human like the rest of us.
on the other side of this archway is... Gomer Pyle...
haha!
Carl Panzram was an awesome dude ! He had balls !!
As a kid we use to play behind his house, he had a swimming pool shaped like a boxing glove
i came in the picture on yr 86. - present. chicano park
he died the year this was made
he died the yeae this was made
he died the yeae this was made
Military and regular police lining street, facing crowd; SAIC Behn on trip; good motorcycle formation; press/ photographers/ tv in flatbed trucks in front of limo+ one other common PRE-Dallas security measure used that will just have to wait for my book to come out 9/1/13
yeah, just been researching him because of that movie with James Woods portraying him. Terrible things that happened 2 him at twelve, things that no human should ever have to endure so i can kinda understand why he lost his empathy & became methodically insane jus a shame nobody put him out his misery early doors before he went on to cause such nightmare carnage. I think the best hope for someone suffering such hideous abuse in childhood is to be steered into helping others who've had the same.
If Panzram is frightening, it's because it's clear he didn't have to turn out this way and could have been a normal person.
Besides Rosie "O" Donnel, I agree.
Wheres that car? Its very cool
Wonderful footage! Thank you :)
HI
why do mexicans resent the people who saved them from themselves
Carl Panzram has got to be one of the scariest people to have ever walked this earth.
I was there near 54th & El Cajon with my Mom and Grandma, but I don't remember it because I was only about 19 months old.
THX
Many ancestors of this people were original Californias who lived here in the United States of America before immigrants from the East started moving West. Due to the Great Drepression many Mexicans who where US citizens were forced to relocate to Mexico, this act is known as the Mexican Repratiation. The flag that is being praised is a flag the community chose to raise in representation of the Chicano culture in which they are Mexican-American. No need for you to write hatred comments.
Bunch of chicken shits
I was one of the kids in this production. I was the one who pulled the curtains with such gusto! This was a wonderful experience, we wrote all the music, made all the costumes and props. It was filmed twice, this video by the local San Diego Opera Association (I think), but also a much bigger more professional production with huge old cameras and a big semi-truck control studio outside, by the Metropolitan Opera Guild in New York City. We were excited they heard about us. Jeff Kursonis
yep
He would be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame had his back not given him problems. Faison was one of the true greats in the AFL.
Still debatably could be. 4 consensus All-Pros and 5 Pro Bowls in 5 full seasons. Anchor of early Chargers defense. Incredible athlete and could dominate today. He’d have my vote!
<3 this video is very emotional!!!!
i live in national city
