Blue Train Solo

Today would have been John Coltrane's 92nd birthday. The master continues to inspire generations through the beauty and honesty of his music and through ceaseless devotion to his craft. I finally tackled his iconic, masterpiece of a solo from John Coltrane's "Blue Train" and got credit for it while in Grad school double score! SO many choruses of melodic bliss, learning ANYTHING from the greats...

Cocaina.
Firecraker and fire.....You flew, Master.....
Fucking A bro!!! 🙌🔥
Yeah… try playing bass behind his s#$t! It took me two days to recover! :). That dude can PLAY!
So freaking unstoppable. One powerful player 💪🔥💪🔥💪
AAAAAAAA !!! 📡⚡⚡⚡the best
The stock neck sounds more centered and a little darker
After a year I have memorized this solo to the point I can sing along with it. My friends think I’m weird.
Like I’ll sit there and go EVERY NOTE and I’m not a singer. Wish I had the discipline to actually transcribe it on the horn though 😳
Ohhh ok maybe 2yrs already
Heavy pocket everyone! Infectious propulsion.
Is intonation different? Did I miss mention?
amazing
I will always wonder what was played after 4:19
Some tasty stuff there my man! Well done.
Still playing that Dukoff? Sounds fantastic!
GREAT VIDEOS TUCKER THIS HELPS FOR SURE WITH ALOT OF THE JAZZ STANDARDS THAT CAN BE HARD TO SOLO IN AND PLAY CAN U TELL ME WHAT KIND OF LIGATURE ARE U USING U HAVE A GREAT SOUND AND IM CURIOUS ABOUT YOUR SET UP THANKS FOR SHARING FAN MIKE
Love your ad-lib on the body and soul melody!
Who wants to see a Tenor battle between him and Chad LB?
I disagree with everybody that says it looses the conn thing. It sounds different than that Conn neck but not like a Selmer. I have owned 8 vi’s 2 BA and 1- 54k SA ( not super balanced-no such thing) 4 10M’s , a transitional and Chu. Tenors Playing primarily the early vi and 54 k. And 1 10M for 50+ yrs. Never tried a Selmer neck on a Conn. i hate the neck angle on the Conn but have put up with it to keep it original. I think Ill unsolder the brace and nudge the angle up. I’m a woodwind tech by day so I can do this. 0
Stock
What a SLEEPER player!!! Jeeeez this dude is good
That was incredible! Go Tucker!
Listen to sonny stitt solo ..still sonny is on top..melodic, energy,ideas....grace
As far as playing melodically you’re correct, Sonny is the better player. But in terms of technicality logic, going outside boundaries, Tucker tops sonny
Just destroys it wow great playing.
Thanks for this . Much gems to take to the practice session. I would watching the rest of your videos 👌🏽
That’s just ain’t right
Name someone that you think thinks faster than him
Yeah…try playing bass behind him! And I do believe he had a minor aneurysm after that gig. He played like that for 3 hours straight! I remember the next time I saw him he had blood in one eye.
Such a beast!
So sweet and wild! You are the best Tucker!
How have I never heard of this guy? Wicked man
Maybe time to pull out the Conn 10M!
They actually both sound amazing as the player is amazing. However...the Boston Sax neck sounds just a little bit better🇱🇷 Im takin a trip to Boston.
Too good
Totalmente prendido fuego!!!! increible Tucker
Dexter was thinking of some smooth whiskey…I once asked him if he practiced a lot: he said “Nooooo”
This is probably the #1 tenor player out there right now...his tone, technique, articulation, everything about his playing is amazing!
And the fact that he plays the devils horn, a 10m is crazy
@@alessandrovillatoro 10ms are some BOMB horns!
It’s a matter of personal preference but I prefer the stock neck because it’s a little darker and I can hear something nice when he goes from one note to the next. It’s more deliberate. The bss neck is obviously more responsive and that’s probably what this guy likes. The whole music industry has gone toward brighter and easier blowing because that’s what sells. It’s the instant gratification thing but the problem with it that everyone starts to sound more and more similar but I guess people care less about individually these days than having their own voice.
I don't find it true that people sound more similar these days... There are tons of unique tenor players out there.
Tucker is one of the all time most awesome musicians/saxophonists there is or has been! He always amazes with his musical thought flow, musical wit, monstrosity, beauty, bluesiness, fluidity, and extraordinary expressiveness. He is my FAVE!!!!!!!!!!!
brother it's perfect
Yeahhhhhh Man👏👏👏👏👏👏 iiiiihhhhaaaaaaaaa
nice sound man
Awesome playing. The vintage neck sounds more vintage to me haha. Both sound great. Heritage is brighter and sounds more responsive.
TENOR SAXOPHONE CONN 10M LO MAXIMO
Great comparison. Love your playing man! As a new 10M owner here, can you tell me what if any modifications you’ve had done to yours? Thanks!
Holy shi* !!!!! 😳😳😳😱😱🥰🥰👏👏👏👏🎷
Tucker Antell literally speaks into the Horn with multiple disciplines and styles.
wow.
I think what he’s trying to say is, Chris potter ain’t all that. He’s like Applebee’s
And then capatilize on them and make a newer hipper one that gives the band a new idea, but really fucking fast.
Then goes into “I have more melodies in one testicle than u will ever know, and that just gives me even more infinite possibilities-because I can play millions of the coolest licks that most of the beat think are hip, and use maybe 3 of these hidden awesome lite licks. And can do them in my sleep but by the 1000
