V/A- KDVS Live in Studio A Punk Comp 2006
A collection of songs curated for the UC Davis' radio station's annual fundraiser. All the songs were selected by DJs Trotsky and Riot, and taken from on-air performances at KDVS. DJ Riot drew the artwork. It also featured an on-air interview with Hunter S. Thompson and a speech by Ralph Nader. I didn't include those.

The Syphilites- Live on KDVS (2006)
Просмотров 5714 дней назад
I like to say I'm a purist, uploading tapes and records with all their skips and warbles, but it's a cover for laziness. However, I broke down and cut this recording up. With three jam sessions and loads of poorly aged banter, there was a lot of fat to cut to keep this listenable to the layman. This session was taken from an on-air performance on the show "Chill Out and Die" on KDVS 90.3 FM in ...

Dumb teenage streetpunk that really wants to be smart and political, from Woodland, California in the mid-2000s. These guys recorded a couple demos and only played a few local shows at Taqueria La Finca de Rivera and the Woodland bowling alley. The last track was recorded live at Taqueria La Finca. Like many bands of this era, most of their art and pictures were lost in the Myspace purge, but h...
The Poonteens- Panopticon (2010)

The Poonteens was a short lived band that played around Davis and Sacramento between 2009 and 2010. Starting as a Crimpshrine inspired pop punk group, they shifted towards post-hardcore just before breaking up, hence this song's jerkiness. This track was featured on a compilation CD for Bitchface Zine vol. 1, which focused on punk from the Middle East, North Africa, and their diasporas. The Poo...

I picked up this comp for the Sin Dios track and the psycho crusty on the cover and was pleased to find solid mix of lesser known 90's European crust and hardcore. This came out on the Dutch label, Underground Punk Support, and features 7 bands from Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. It's a typical mix of 90's political hardcore with elements of powerviolence, youth crew, and ...
Naheed Akhtar- Dancing Nuts (Super Tapes)

I know little to nothing about this one. I found this tape at Sherry's Vinyl Zamalek, in Cairo, picking out a handful of cassettes based on their artwork alone. I have found zero information about this album online. If anyone knows anything about it, please offer it up in the comments. What I can tell you is that it's in Urdu and that it was released on Super Tapes, presumably in the 1980s. The...

Unpleasant- Controlled DEMOlition (2024)

A muddy, cacophonous, anarcho bedroom project out of Milwaukee with four and a half originals and a couple covers ("Firecracker" by Monsula and "Lone Wolf" by the Thought). All bass and drum machine bits were performed and recorded on a cassette 4-track by Unpleasant, except for the intro and "Orgy of the Senses" which were recorded by Kevin Stenseth. There is no guitar. Tapes to come soon. Tra...
Casualty- Hope/Greg's Song (1991)

Hardcore punk originally from New Zealand. As a teenage punk volunteering at my local college radio station, I came across these guys' debut LP, Challenge, because of its proximity to the Casualties in the station's library. I couldn't tell what was going on on the album cover, but it looked punk or crossover. I was put off by picture on the back, where they were all wearing Casualty shirts, bu...
Tony "Boom Boom" Badea- Tears May Fall

This a big step away from my usual punk type content. I know very little about freestyle. My interest in punk brought me to industrial, minimal wave, and other punk-adjacent synth genres. These in turn brought me to hi-NRG and Italo disco and that brought freestyle to my attention. I don't really know the defining features of it, but I think I'm at a point that I can tell it from other electron...
Fanous Cheezcake- Easy Answers & Simple Slogans (1985)
Просмотров 1823 года назад
What's the name about? I have no clue! I picked up this 7" for $3 not knowing a thing about it, but that it looked kinda punk, came out in 1985, the lyrics sheet included songs about nuclear disarmament and apartheid, and a New Jersey mailing address. All indicators of a mediocre-at-worst punk/hardcore record. I did some searching and, once I figured out the name wasn't "Famous Cheez Cake," I l...

Goofy garage punk from NYC. I don't know much about these guys, but the first comparison that comes to mind is Pop-O-Pies. Nice! I just picked up a copy of this on seven inch the other day. Always liked Understand. Wondered if it was the Max and Alex Nailbomb (it isn't)
HELL YEAH!!!
controlled silence is really good
Hell yea dude. I know Evan. I grew up in woodland as a teenage punk in the 90s. Seen them a few times and chilled in his garage during band practices.. This record rips. RIP Keith
@raiiny_day42 hell yeah. That was before my time, but I was hanging out with Keith and Jen a bit when they were playing in Planetary Ruins
Still have my tape
@@mattleary5714 hell yeah. Me too!
I have a first pressing of this on red vinyl.
The cops call me ghost ha ha ha
Wspaniały czad ! To była muzyka! To były piękne czasy !
yeah, this is SICK!
Decent lp, good times in the 80’s
I've been looking for this in a non vinyl version since I heard it on Vassar College's radio station at some point in the very early 90s. 8 million dicks was the one that snagged me, didn't realize the pope is packed was from this album too, i loved it when they played a part of it in interstitials. Thank you so much for uploading this.
Makes me wanna go to Disneyland to sniff glue and get naked.
Thanks for uplaoding this. I was the singer. Got a good chuckle from your description. We gave zero fucks dude. Pretty much the only thing we cared about back then was palying the stag for free drinks. Spelling wasnt a priority for us. And the band name spelled wrong for no reason other than the way it looks. Diy punk af
Thanks for the comment. I hope I wasn't too snarky in the description. I grew up right by the Stag, but you guys were a lil before my time. I'd be interested to know the story of the Woodland Connection and any other cool Woodland bands of the time besides you guys and Society's Disease (RIP Keith)
Delish.
@maximum efficiency if you ever scan that booklet, let me know!
Dang. I completely forgot. Gonna put that on my to do list
Man, you got some real classics here, I used to listen to many of these on repeat as a teenager...glad to see that some of our music of that era managed to get past the Iron Curtain into the West
On the last day of a west coast tour I played a house show set up by Mick Mucus back in 2003 (ruclips.net/video/vfKRhHuqQqg/видео.html) and he gave me a copy of this record to play on KALX (UC Berkeley's Radio Station) and I'm so happy he did. I added it to our library and have been giving it spins ever since!
Wanna know where I got my copy?
I ain’t listening to vinyl that’s skipping🙈💩.
Find a cleaner copy and upload it
Siekiera used drum machine ??? No way. Its regular acoustic drum. Btw where did you take that info from anyway ?
Whoops. At this point I don't remember, but I corrected it.
Picked up this vinyl when I was 18 or 19 and I still have it. I’m more of a Side One guy because I like the melodic stuff. 7 Seconds was a favorite of mine then; their “When One Falls” later turned up on their “ourselves” album. (I still have all of 7 Seconds’ vinyls, too!). White Flag’s “Suicide King” is an awesome track!!
Side B: 12. Moskwa- Nigdy!
This remix rules..should have way more views
ty for the upload!
I did not expect to like this so much ! I remember meeting Jim of the band briefly around the time this album was recorded at Toxic Shock studios in Manhattan. I'm glad I checked this out !
That's a solid interaction! I original heard the record at my college radio station and thought "8 Million Dicks" was hilarious and would play it on my show periodically, but never paid much attention to the rest of the album until I found a copy for myself over a decade later.

Oh no. I'll have to go fix that. Thanks for pointing that out.
Had this one years ago, brilliant comp. Voorhees, Ironside and Submission were class👌
Holy shit….I haven’t heard this in over 20 years. Always loved the sound and humor of this album. I had the honor of doing the solo on ‘70’s Hip…..the 80’s were a good time, man.
dood the r and l channels are way off
Listen here fella. I never promised quality. I'm ripping records off a Numark PT01 onto GarageBand and pretty much have no idea what I'm doing.
That Mick Mucus sure is a swell fella.
What a guy!
Very fake, very gay.
Vielen Dank, ich liebe diesen Sampler. Seit über 30 Jahren in meinen Schrank. Ein guter Freund.
Good comp. My copy is still wrapped in the original plastic. Played it only once when it was released to record it onto cassette.👍
Awesome. Still have the cassette?
@@maximumefficiency5737 I’m sure I do, but getting to the cassette tape collection in storage is the problem..😥
On July 9, 2021, I had the honor of seeing Jim and the guys do a mostly-acoustic set of all these songs. Took me back 30 years, when I used to watch him perform these tunes in the lobby of The Capitol Theatre in downtown Flint. I was signing my book at this event and managed to sell quite a few, thanks in large part to the crowd ROUS brought to the event. One of my customers was none other than Mr. Jim Fourniadis himself. I sure hope he gets as much out of the book as all of us Flint kids got (and still get) out of this record!
Goddamn. Hell yeah!
@@maximumefficiency5737 It was a good day in downtown Flint.
Was looking for L.O.T.I.O.N tracks, and discovered Scumputer. Sometimes the algorithim does good by me.
Now you gotta look up Seats of Piss, the link between Scumputer and Chaos UK.
@@maximumefficiency5737 Just took in the whole City of Bastards album and glad I did. Thanks!
@@maximumefficiency5737 Also did I mention that the riffs for Invisible Door and Society are damn near the best punk ones I've ever heard?
Got this tape back in 1986! Dissonace-Cruise Control!
This was a really great fucking comp, great to see it on youtube, I bought this back in day only for Resisters because a lot of tracks I already had, but discovered many other good bands on it. This is also pretty rare because it has that great Ebola track which is very famous on the imprecation EP for having the jazzy interlude, but this mix doesn't have any of that....been waiting years to hear it like this again!!
Thanks for diggin it. I was probably like 17 and starting to grow out of street punk and picked this up for the Dystopia track and one of the older crusties in my hometown had a Lost World patch, so I wanted to know what was up with them. Great record that really encapsulates the state of global crust in 96.
So relevant today!!!
I just rereleased this on Bandcamp with bonus tracks, because the world is just not stupid enough :)
I had the Ratzilla t-shirt too. I wore it proudly to so many punk shows. My bitch mom stole my record. Love you guys.
@@lori9473 Thanks dude
Can you put it on Spotify as well?
Well if it isn't THE Jim Fourniadis. Hell yeah. That LP's some terribly underrated goofball punk. It deserves the reissue.
Same Jim on the new WORKDOGS album?
I remember the day I got this tape, my dad took me to the record store and I picked it out, we listened to it on the way home in his 79 corvette with the top down. He thought it was funny that there was a green eyed lady cover on a punk tape. There's definitely some fruity tracks on this but it was the first place I heard Youth of Today. My favorite track was always the Dissonance track. Thanks for uploading, I had downloaded it off a blog some years ago but not even sure where that folder is now. It's funny what you said about the Verbal Assault track, I always felt the same. I remember track 6 was typo'd and said "Myslef" lol, the weird details I remember.
It's a very weird comp right at the moment hardcore started moving in different directions, getting more melodic and funky. I was just checking the discogs on Soulforce Revolution and was surprised that didn't come out the same year. There's some hits on it though and I'm all for the Green Eyed Lady cover.
Saw this at a record store today, wish I bought
Shoulda grabbed it
Available on Bandcamp!!!!

I owned two of these albums and they both skipped in the same spot. I always wondered what the story was behind that. Did they all skip? Awesome album though. Thanks for the post.
I originally heard this through my old college radio station. I haven't dug super deep. I did find a couple blog posts about them, but not with a ton of info other than one of them runs an art space in the Bay Area now.
