      Yes, I've got some comments on one of my other vids about it. 60mm at the back of the bed and an additional 90 (iirc) at the front. Klipper works great for TC. There is a very good plugin for it, all detailed on the Printables page for this.

      It's a 300 which I've increased the depth of (to give more space at both the front and back of the bed). It is built Open Frame / Enclosure 2.0 style. It's one of the early self source setups - deliberately such that I'd have a deeper/taller frame.

      I think it actually goes back to Rat Rig's first(?) product, the V-Slider camera slider which used wheels on V-slot extrusions. Their 3D printers don't use that motion system, but the "V-" prefix became their brand (V-Core, V-Cast, V-Minion).

    Any reason to not keep the extruder in the front and have the head come to the front for tool changes?

    • @mr_psyvision
      @mr_psyvision 2 года назад

      I think some people are working on this concept, there is also a version on RUclips which does exactly that. I wanted to have the ability to be flexible with extruder, I may do a tool with an Orbiter 2. I don't jnow if there would be issues with coupling accurately and keeping a good filament path too.

  • @GrimstodDesh

    Very cool. A rat Rig is something I want to build because I need the build volume but eventually I need the ability to do tool changes. The Prusa MMU2 is not cutting it.

      No plans for anything more specific than the info on the project page at the moment - www.printables.com/model/137147-ratrig-vcore-3-tool-changer I have published my Klipper configuration to GitHub and I'm on the RatRig Discord. I have a frame extended by about 120mm in the Y direction, with longer Y rails which allows the depth needed to keep all the print area.

    • @mr_psyvision
      @mr_psyvision 2 года назад

      Hi Joseph, thanks! This mod uses the official parts for the locking mechanism but modified and printed parts for the rest of the carriage (for things like belt attachment etc). A full E3D metal tool changer head won't fit the RatRig by default. The software is tricky to produce generically but there is a great klipper plugin. If you want more info there is a tool changer channel on the RatRig discord!
