Looks like a well designed tool changer. Can you share your CAD?
Your build plate tells the story of toolchanger development and nozzle offset calibrations :P
Which Board(s) are you using for all your Steppers?
Just a single Octopus Pro now as the tools are on EBB36 toolboards now
Did you need to do any modifications on the frame for this? How is the Toolchanging function working with Klipper? I was considering RRF just because the Toolchanging function. THX
Yes, I've got some comments on one of my other vids about it. 60mm at the back of the bed and an additional 90 (iirc) at the front. Klipper works great for TC. There is a very good plugin for it, all detailed on the Printables page for this.
@@mr_psyvision Great. Thx, can you show an overview on your printer where we can see those extensions?
I love it!😍 Would you show more of this printer? Keep up the good work !😎👍👍
I will do, applying some upgrades at the moment and enclosing it :)
really great work! what size ratrig is this and could you use the enclosure 2.0 kit with that? looking for a toolchanger that has auto bed levelimg and an enclosure. thanks in advance!
It's a 300 which I've increased the depth of (to give more space at both the front and back of the bed). It is built Open Frame / Enclosure 2.0 style. It's one of the early self source setups - deliberately such that I'd have a deeper/taller frame.
@@mr_psyvision thanks. found already the discord channel
@@mr_psyvision do you think 100mm increase in depth is a good value for adding the toolchanger?
@sonnijonny I think I did 60 at the back (Z upright is further to the front than the electronics panel) and 90 at the front (front bed arms are further forward)
hey man, what camera is that, and how did u set it up? u got tutorial?
The camera is from AliExpress - "ENWOR Ultra Thin Android Endoscope Camera". The mount is a custom one as part of the Tool Changer. I think there may be some on the RatRig discord using them with custom Eva "bottom" parts which have a holder.
@@mr_psyvision thx! how did u connect it?
@@al3xlindberg It's USB so straight into the Pi (presents itself like any other camera) and then configure as any other webcam for mainsail
What am I looking at?
Pretty ingenious! Why is it call v-core. Edit: i get it. Looks like the bed has a kinematic mount that looks like a “V”.
I think it actually goes back to Rat Rig's first(?) product, the V-Slider camera slider which used wheels on V-slot extrusions. Their 3D printers don't use that motion system, but the "V-" prefix became their brand (V-Core, V-Cast, V-Minion).
@@keegan854 aah thanks for that!
Nice and silent what is your mainboard and driver please
This was on a SKR 1.2 and Octopus 1.1 with 2209. Now using Octopus Pro with 2209, using spreadcycle IIRC, just a quiet!
@@mr_psyvision thx for reply but what is ||RC please . I have Octopus v1.1 with 2209 or 2226 uart mode and its so noisy in spreadcycle or stealthchop limit 70mm/s for noise
@@mondingue if I remember correctly...! You'll find stealthchop quieter if you go slower I think and spreadcycle quieter if you're going faster, 200mm/s etc. if I have that the correct way around. Possibly printer model dependent a bit.
CoreXY and the technologies you speak of are on my immediate future list. Per that, lol, you didn’t answer his question. What is IIRC? If you would please 😂. Edited to add: Subscribed, fantastic looking build!!!
Is there a guide to setting this up somewhere?
No specific guide at the moment other than Printables - www.printables.com/model/137147-ratrig-vcore-3-tool-changer - I may put together a Github page with more information. Also the RatRig Community Discord has a channel where most of this is discussed.
Can u send me file
Any reason to not keep the extruder in the front and have the head come to the front for tool changes?
I think some people are working on this concept, there is also a version on RUclips which does exactly that. I wanted to have the ability to be flexible with extruder, I may do a tool with an Orbiter 2. I don't jnow if there would be issues with coupling accurately and keeping a good filament path too.
Very cool. A rat Rig is something I want to build because I need the build volume but eventually I need the ability to do tool changes. The Prusa MMU2 is not cutting it.
hi pyvision
LGX lite with Revo Micro ?
Correct!
the belts on the cable bundle is a testament to the diyness of this creation. i love it
Hey Richard, thanks so much for uploading videos and pushing this project. This project inspired me to get a ratrig with a carrot feeder system. To start me off and one day to become a tool changer. Currently working on the firmware of my printer and expecting first prints by the end of the week.
Great to hear its inspired you! There are a few people already using ERCF systems and a dedicated MMU channel on the discord server.
are you planning to release a build guide for this at some point? Do you loose much of the y travel direction with this mod?
No plans for anything more specific than the info on the project page at the moment - www.printables.com/model/137147-ratrig-vcore-3-tool-changer I have published my Klipper configuration to GitHub and I'm on the RatRig Discord. I have a frame extended by about 120mm in the Y direction, with longer Y rails which allows the depth needed to keep all the print area.
They saw the XL and got jelly
The xl is a completely different toolchanging mechanism, not to mention a much slower printer than the vcore 3. This is a triple point kinematic toolchanger, similar to the e3d toolchanger.
Hey Richard, awesome work! I wondered if you have any source or page to remix or work on it?
Hey Richard. insane work!!. is the genuine E3D tool changer parts compatible with the RatRig? and the firmware in the description? If so, I am definitely going to program and build my own! Thanks Heaps!
Hi Joseph, thanks! This mod uses the official parts for the locking mechanism but modified and printed parts for the rest of the carriage (for things like belt attachment etc). A full E3D metal tool changer head won't fit the RatRig by default. The software is tricky to produce generically but there is a great klipper plugin. If you want more info there is a tool changer channel on the RatRig discord!
Hello Richard. Great job. Also working on a similar concept. It appears that the TC-Ramp parts are metal. Can you tell me where you got them . I haven't been able to find metal ramps that were separate from the entire face plate. Again Great job.
Thanks Ben! E3D sell them in the UK - £9 a pop IIRC.
whats the flowrate and max temp?
nice
Wooooooooot!!!
You happy with it? Im also planning to build.
How you add the aeotec nano shutter to hubitat gateway?
I'm using the Generic Z-wave Shade device handler!
How about sharing some build details, dimensions, sealed, etc.?
lol
what kind of blind motor did you use?
Nice. Can you please advise if your electrical cable from the blind motor/nano shutter terminates to a up/down switch on the wall or just plugged into mains power and you use a Zwave remote to control it?
This is just z-wave automated. The nano shutter allows for physical switch control using various combinations of switches.
Hard to tell how they sound through a phone mic, how do they sound?
they sound good but i wouldn't use them as LCR, they work great as surrounds and atmos.
Hey Richard are you still rocking these? How do they compare to your B&Ws?
What is the speaker behind the HTM?
Chetan Hassarajani B&W 684 (not the new S2 version)
Hi Can i ask how you are finding these HTM-23's? i'm looking at building some for music and films. If you could give me an idea of your thoughts that would be great.
What printer?
BigBox3D
Would these have enough low end for regular TV and music or do you need a sub? I live in a condo and don't want my neighbours to feel what I'm watching, but I don't want things to sound too hollow.
how these sounding? got them hooked up for HT?
Not yet, still constructing the building for them. I've now finished all three (LCR) and the do sound excellent!
Richard Caunt nice! I can't decide which models I want for lcr. Fusions, htm12s or 1099s..
Around 2km
That looks pretty high up at one point, what sort of range can you get out of it?
