Should you visit Hiroshima?
Things to see and do in Hiroshima, and our thoughts on why you should visit.
Last November, we decided to take a trip to Hiroshima after many years. We discovered some new spots and enjoyed the best okonomiyaki we've ever had! This time, we had the opportunity to talk to many locals as well, and we were deeply moved by their light-heartedness, kindness, and pride in their city ❤️

Beautifully made video .
Thank you for the lovely comment🙏 We don't post often, but it's very encouraging to receive comments like these!

Your videos are so soothing, thank you.
Thank you so much for the nice comment, it really gives us motivation! 🌿Been very busy lately, but hoping to upload more videos soon!
Ahhh love all the cat furniture!
Haha, yes, it's incredibly charming in there!
How far is it from IUJ university?
It's about 1 hour 30 minutes by car :)
Oh.... this looks so nice. Can you request dietary changes if there's something you can't eat? Like problems with raw/whole fruit?
Yes, they will do their best to accommodate, but there are certain restrictions that might pose challenges. However, raw/whole fruit should not be a problem.
You have nice videos but try in future to stay in places a lot of us can afford we are not all wealthy
Thank you for the comment🌿 We have chosen to highlight upscale and/or unique accommodations because we operate as a luxury travel agency, and these high-end options are not often featured in travel videos. Outside of our occasional splurge stays, we usually choose budget-friendly Airbnbs or business hotels. However, we generally opt not to showcase these, considering their lack of uniqueness and the abundance of similar options.
@@miwa-kyoto OK thank you for reply
Wondered the Onsen will be affected by the earthquake?
Hello. Yamanaka Onsen does not appear to be significantly affected by the earthquake :)
in shyuntei-nakagawa, did you order the Shiroyama Course or the Shiroyama tenderloin course?
Don't remember exactly, but it was neither of those. If you check their Japanese website, there are several courses. I believe we had the Hida filet A course that costs 8,000 JPY per person (特選飛騨牛フィレ肉 Aコース).
Hi, which hotel did you stay at in Takayama city prior to the ryokan?
Hi, we stayed in an AirBnB, not a hotel.
Just paid a visit to Takayama - very disappointed 😢 I cannot believe how many tourists can be packed in the narrow street of the old town. The video could be shot during the Covid era. You will never get the peaceful setting in today’s world. Nothing is beautiful when the street is like packed sardines. Imagine you have to rub shoulders with others to do sake tasting and when you smell hida beef skewers all the time but couldn’t identify where is the end of the line. Thank god we only had one night in Takyama. Kamikochi and Shinhotaka are much more interesting. Btw, it was a weekday and in early November.
Yes, Takayama (and Japan in general) has boomed like crazy after the borders reopened. Takayama old town is indeed the most visited spot, but there are still hidden gems to be seen in the city. Glad you could enjoy the surrounding areas at least :) This video was shot in January this year (2023) by the way 🌱
Thanks a lot for sharing with.,
Thank you for watching 🌱
Thanks so much for sharing with.., Can't wait to come back to Japan for visit in the near future., sooner. Thanks again.
Thank you for watching 🙏 You should definitely consider Niigata on your next trip!
Lovely content you have created here. Thank you.

Hi🌱 Thank you for your kind words and for enjoying our videos. We have been too busy to upload lately, but will come up with more for sure! It sounds like you had a meaningful and memorable trip to Japan😊 People really have different motives for visiting the country! Hope you get the chance to return and explore more of Japan. Love it. I am traveling to Takamaya and Shirawaku-go next week. So lucky to have come across your video. Please keep them coming. ありがとうございました
Thank you! Happy to hear that the video was useful. Lucky you, hope you will enjoy Takayama and Shirakawa-go🌿
I can only think of Insomniacs After School upon seeing this. Thank you for sharing a glimpse of Noto to us!
Thank you for the comment. Had to Google Insomniacs After School, and it turns out the manga's setting is in Nanao. That's quite interesting! Indeed, Japan can sometimes give you the sensation of stepping into a manga or anime world! 🌿
I have read the novel you mentioned, and it is creepy to say the least! I am glad your hotel wasn't really like it at all
Haha, have you? That's cool to hear! The hotel really did have those vibes, but it did not feel scary though. You should check out this short film based on the novel: ruclips.net/video/NJzSyfMIwgs/видео.html It's creepy, but beautiful 🌱
what is the name of this ryokan at Lake Toya that you stayed? Which room number should I reserve to get the view?
Hi Elizabeth, and thank you for the comment 🌱 The ryokan name is "The Lake Suite Ko No Sumika". All their rooms have lake view, but the "terrace" rooms have the best views (2nd floor and up), especially the "corner terrace" rooms. The "garden terrace" rooms are only on the 1st floor. You should also get a room with "open-air hot spring bath" (onsen) for the best experience. Be aware that the rooms have slightly different names depending on the booking site. Good luck!
Thank you very much for introducing beautiful Noto Peninsula! I’m going to move there very soon.
Oh! We envy you! Where in Noto are you planning to move to? Hope we can go back soon and enjoy that beautiful place, especially the ocean 🌊 Time appears to move at a more leisurely pace there compared to Kyoto 🕰
My husband bought an old house in Anamizu town. Can’t wait to join him there.
@@uliseki8137 That's nice🌱 The "Noto Great Buddha of Longevity" (in the video) is in Anamizu :) Although we didn't feature it in the video, we also visited the "Besshodake Sky Deck Noto Yumeterasu." It's a very cool viewpoint near Anamizu that we highly recommend! Hope you will enjoy life in Noto!❤
I would say very excited your clip video and enjoy you eaten too... Thanks
Thank you! The food in Japan is delicious for sure :)

Thank you for sharing❤ will an hour be enough to visit the Showa-kan? Hoping to go there this October..
Thank you for the comment ❤️ One to one and a half hours should be sufficient, although it's easy to spend a longer amount of time there considering the abundance of things to see! October is a nice time to visit. Not too hot or cold and lesser tourists :)
@@miwa-kyoto thank you so much!
Booking, wotif, expedia etc...impossible to book just one night at this ryokan...Can't work out if it's over 500 a night or 1200....pity us peasants.
Yes, depending on the dates it can be difficult to book. A room like this should be around 35,000 JPY (250 USD) per person per night (so about 500 USD per night for 2 people). Note that it probably won't show up if you only search for 1 person.
I really love all your travel videos. Sometimes the small details that you included like the checking in hotels, driving in your, randomly buying food made me relive the moments when I'm travelling. It's soothing
Thank you for the lovely comment, it is super encouraging to hear on a busy Thursday! 🙏 Yes, we do make a conscious effort to include such details as you mentioned, although we weren't entirely certain if they would be appreciated or perceived as dull! Happy to hear that you like those moments and find them soothing as that is one of the goals of this channel 🌿 We will continue to make improvements and aim for even better quality in the future, so keep an eye out for further updates 🌱
Thank you so much for introducing me to a good onsen. The video is excellent, the music is very good, and it's very relaxing. Thank you.👍
Thank you for the nice comment 🌱 Yes, you must try this ryokan if you have the chance. The atmosphere is one of the best we had so far (not too stiff and formal, but still a top notch ryokan). btw subscribed to your channel as your travel style seems very similar to ours 😊

Living in kyoto means no ocean? Wakayama, Osaka and amanohashidate wants to say hello.
Thank you for the comment🌱 You will have to drive a couple of hours to reach Amanohashidate and about 1 hour to Osaka, Wakayama even further. Even so, Osaka bay is not exactly a nice and quiet place to chill. Then it's easier to visit Otsu and Lake Biwa (which we often do)😉
🌿 ENG: Thank you for the feedback. Yes, we are thinking of adding subtitles in other languages, but haven't gotten so far yet. Great video! I was lucky enough to live in the Noto from 2006 ~ 2008. Such a beautiful and special place. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching 🌱 It's wonderful to hear from someone who has lived in Noto and experienced its beauty firsthand. Lucky you! Noto is indeed a special place and we can't wait to go back there and explore it in more depth. Would probably need a week or two next time to cover it all! 😀
Lovely. I would have liked a tour of the room and the amenities. Greetings from Canada
Thank you for the nice comment and greetings from Japan 🇯🇵🌿 Yes, was thinking to do a detailed room tour, but scrapped it. Was too busy with the onsen, foot bath, dinner etc. 😅
Great video! Hope your channel takes off, now I want to go here lol
Hi James! Appreciate the nice comment 🙏 and happy to hear you feel like visiting Takayama just by watching this 😄 Indeed, let's see where this channel takes us. Hopefully we will be able to upload more often in the future!
We love Niigata but want to see more. We have plans to visit Sado Island. Thank you for this video 💗💗💗
Thank you for the lovely comment 🌱Our next video will be about Sado Island and the one after that about Niigata city. When are you planning to visit?
Have you ever heard of Niigata? Not sure why most people haven't heard of this destination, but we have a feeling it is just a matter of time. After all, they have everything you need (food, culture, history, events etc.) and is located just 2 hours away from Tokyo on the bullet train 🚄 That is closer than from Tokyo to Kyoto! In the next video (coming soon), we visit the mysterious Sado Island 🌿
Got a match on a dating app from someone who lives in Niigata and had to look it up cause I'd never heard of it. After learning about it just like you I was also confused as to why it isn't well known. I would say it seems just as good of a city as Hokkaido and Osaka imo. Definitely a destination for my next visit and could also see myself happily living there.
@@TheYodelingViking Haha, that's an unexpected way to learn about Niigata for the first time! It's true that some places don't always get the spotlight they deserve. Getting around Niigata can be tricky without a car, which could be a reason it's not so known. If you can, you should rent a car and explore. Who knows, maybe you'll find yourself living in Niigata if your dating goes well 😄
@@miwa-kyoto It is no surprise that when I read this comment, the advert came on the RUclips video for car hire - something I have no interest or need in, but the algorithm clear read your comment.
@@capitalb5889 That is both impressive and unsettling at the same time.
@miwa-kyoto it's possible it's a coincidence - it is a travel video after all, so related videos may show up, but still...it feels like too much of a coincidence.
Thank you for the video! I´ll be going to the cat cafe you show :)
Great to hear that you will be going to the cat cafe :) It's so much fun and also supports a good cause 🌱 Please say hello to the cats from us 🐈
Hi We love your video and content. By the way how did you book the stay at Hidatei Hanaogui Ryokan stay. It seems like they are not taking bookings for December 2023. Can you please advice. Thank you and keep up the vlogging.
Thank you 🌿 You can book through their website: www.hanaougi.co.jp. If your dates do not appear, you can always contact them directly: www.hanaougi.co.jp/contact/, but if you are looking at 31st of December (New Years), it is probably too late as the rooms get booked far in advance by regulars.
I'm appreciate which you show a different kind topic of travel so relaxing, it's feel free to stay happiness and healthy life. 😊😊😊
Thank you for the nice and encouraging comment! Yes, Japan is packed with relaxing destinations without many tourists. Stay tuned, as we will share more unique places in upcoming videos 🌱
Hakodate is awesome. It was our first time to visit the city and we absolutely fell in love with its size/dimensions. The perfect "small city" with vast nature just around the corner. We might move there one day, even. Just wish it was a bit further up north 😂Which would you prefer? Otaru or Hakodate?
Hokkaido is such a relaxing place. So much that we are seriously thinking of moving there one day. Would you live in town (Otaru?) or in the countryside? 🌿 Or perhaps by Japan's most beautiful lake? → ruclips.net/video/Rd6_99oAVns/видео.html 🙈
The Kaiseki cuisine (multi-course dinner) served at ryokans can be tough if you are not used to it, but we feel that the food at Hidatei Hanaougi is very well balanced. Not too traditional, but not too Western in taste either. You think you could handle that river fish? 🐟😺
After the visit to Yamanaka Onsen, we took a quick trip to the nearby Noto Peninsula, a wonderful side-trip if you are staying in/near Kanazawa 🌿Check it out in the video below: ruclips.net/video/cUv_gO153wc/видео.html
Despite being close to Kanazawa, the Noto Peninsula is often overlooked by travelers. After visiting Yamanaka Onsen (ruclips.net/video/BWTDP619j-c/видео.html), we decided to take a quick drive up to the peninsula to check it out. There were lots to see, so we quickly realized that we should have taken much more time! One day we will have to go back to explore deeper, but hope you can enjoy a little taste of Noto from this video 🌿
i wonder if noto is still safe after the devastating earthquakes
@@fatcrruise6508 Noto is unfortunately not for tourism these days. There are still possibilities of landslides and evacuation orders are still in place. It will take months until it recovers, unfortunately. Kanazawa is safe for travel however. You can find updates here: www.japan-guide.com/news/alerts.html
