Surplus Restoration
Добавлен 15 авг 2023
We all have a high appreciation for Surplus Firearms. I have been collecting for around 15 years now and have come across many guns that have been abused and neglected. So, I started restoring firearms and have just loved the results. On this channel you'll see the various techniques I use to restore these neglected firearms back to their formal glory. While there are many collectors who may have issues with this, I just want y'all to know that I'm only doing this with guns that have been severely neglected and or are not that expensive and vast quantities of. Many of these guns I restore there are hundreds of thousands of and restoring one that has been abused and let to rust is not hurting anybody. While having battle scars and battleworn character to guns is part of their history, there are those that go beyond that and deserve to be restored. This is just a hobby of mine, I'm not claiming to be an expert by any means, I just wanted to share with y'all some of my restorations!
Royal Tiger Imports M1888/90 Restoration
For this video, I will be restoring a Royal Tiger Imports B Grade M1888/90. This is one of the first mass produced straight pull rifles and one of if not the most superior gun during it's time. Here, you'll see how I fully restore this worn down and neglected rifle back to its' original glory!

Surplus C&R Firearms Rust Bluing Restorations Before and After
Finally got my enfield… Got mine for $190 B grade and has everything besides the bolt… and just bought the bolt for it 😂😂😂 but aye… still cheaper than buying it with the bolt
Cleaned up very well! Gonna snatch me one up while they are on sale.
Song name
You did a wonderful job 👏
the berthier is so sexy.
Love this concept! Make a short on the restore methods, chemicals and cleaning solution recipes?
Good job. Never seen such a beautiful Carcano!
Great Video
looks like a good conservative restoration
What do you do for the bores if they are bad?
Hmmm, WWI enfields were oil blackeded not blued or browned and it appeared you were actually cold bluing even using hydrogen peroxide. ..a shinny stock on a combat rifle ?
Good job.. but honestly, the before looks absolutely amazing!!
Just got my RTI Enfield, its in......worse shape than this one, but ill see what i can do!
RTI definitely sent you one of the best rifles they had! I have seen quite a few and this is not how they look to start. They are in much worse shape and missing original parts and parts in general.
Awesome
Sehr schön 😻
What color stain did you use?
I purchased one a number of years ago that had a synthetic hunting stock on it. I ordered a parade rifle and canabalized the stock, nose cap and rear sight wings. Still trying to get all the cosmoline out of the stock to "brighten" it up a bit.
Yes this is. Destroying history
It looks good but to be honest I would have left it how it was before it looked perfectly fine.
I'm in the same field I use a tea ball or tea steeper for my small parts it works really well
Only thing ido different is to not wear gloves around the wire wheel. It can pull you into it if it grabs. I understand they are nitrile but they can still grab and the black ones can be tough...I had a drill press almost cut my wrist with nitrile gloves.....I was lucky to be using a foot control but it left a bad burn and bruising. It looked like I was arrested and had a cuff mark. Your prep is very good, especially for rust bluing. I usually do heat bluing or oxpho for my screws and small parts. It saves time and can be easier to get more done with less trouble. A little trick, you can put your peroxide in the ultrasonic to get it into everywhere uniformly. It will help your rust form in a sheet.
Hair dryer???? DUDE! How about a " heat gun?" On low temp, it will do well, if you don't lose your concentration, and have to put the flames out! Thanks for your spot on efforts, to being us such valuable information! Carry on, sharply!
how much would this cost for ur service
Wonderful craftsmanship👍👍👍👍
Wonderful craftsmanship👍👍👍👍
What a nice job! Came out great. Nice detailed video too!
Why did you take the Trench art out ;-;
When you do the boiling where do you get that square steel tub?
love that curved bolt
Crazy you don’t get more views
What will the collectors think of you destroying their precious relics !!! If you reblue or re do anything in a rifle it makes it as worthless as a sporter , no matter how tasteful. Good job
I've done my M1 in boiled linseed oil, it took a over 13 months. (19 applications) 3 applications on week one, 1 app,/week for a month, 1 app./month for a year. The advantage of BLO is the ability to freshen up the finish with little or know prep. The extractor spring is easily damaged if a round is inserted into the chamber and the bolt slammed home, always place a round in the magazine and allow the bolt to properly feed the rim of the round into the extractor then into the chamber. Forcing the extractor claw to ride over the rim of the round will eventually cause spring breakage.
I have one just like this, dated 1916. I've been wanting to restore it for ages. Quick question, does the blowtorch ruin the factory hardness when you're doing the bluing?
It's a piece of art. I'd rather keep it in its initial condition in order to maintain it as it was left under that patina but as long as it is a mix of parts and post-war rebuild and stuff it's fine. Nice job
Located anywhere near Georgia? Id like my 1891 finnish mosin cleaned up
The bluing is just amazing
beautiful job .. bought many over the years haven't had one with a good bore :(
Wow, awesome.
Looks new from the factory
Stunning
The bluing is immaculate
Dude, turn the mu_zak down!
Looks great, nice job.
Did u ask them not to wire wheel it ??
Wow one of the 150 Amedeo Savoia guards those are very very rare lucky find
Just got my rti no1. There is a screw/bokt that passes theough the rear of the lower stock/handgaurd. When i turn that screw tge other end ont he other side of the stock spins but the screw doesnt back out. There is no way to attach a tool to the othee side to stop it from spinnng. Pkease advise.
Removed way too much material on that forend; now the trigger guard is proud.
Good job🎉
may not be a collectors and valuable item but to me - the Italians made some fine weapons.
