foundation dig day 6 and 7 we finally get faster
Просмотров 2716 месяцев назад
After a very slow start we finally make progress at a better speed. The foundations will get dug in time for the concrete delivery if we can maintain the rate of digging. This has been a steep learning curve and the biggest single task on the digger so far.

finally digging foundations but run into a buried swimming pool

This is it! Formal breaking ground day 15 May 2022. We already excavated a swimming pool here but it turns out that the foundations go a bit further than we calculated so we still ended up having to dig through a small part of them, making this part of the foundation 1.85m deep. digging plant room slab to surveyed lines

adjusting the layout to match later drawings from architect

surveyor marking out the foundations

Before we dig our foundations we need to have marks for exactly where to dig them. The surveyor came today and measured all the points where the centre lines of the foundations meet. He hammered in short lengths of rebar so we can put up string lines and make paint marks to help us get them in exactly the right place. The outside of our building has 7 angles and only one of them is 90 degrees. ...

I am not a digger driver but have employed many to build tracks on my hill farm. I agree work from the top, but make the cut so the road is on the hard, the soft material gets pushed over the side. You don't make the road by track rolling the loose fill. It will wash away when it rains. Get down to the hard ground.

The same thing just happened to me on the weekend. I had my brakes replaced at a shop, before a road trip, and halfway to my destination I heard rattling, pulled over and realized the top bolt was missing. It had rubbed against the inside of my run, since it wasnt bolted in place! The shop replaced everything for free, but could not figure out what had happened. Lol, what had happened was, you didn't put the bolt back in. Now that it's all replaced, I double checked it myself.

I was wondering this same thing as for some stupid reason mayo is literally _twice_ the price here when it comes from a squeeze bottle instead of a glass jar. Tell me that's not a scam. I bought a set of restaurant style bottles for all my condiments so they take far less room in the fridge with all their goofy shaped bottles. The thin sauces were simple as I just used a funnel but the mayo stumped me. I was already thinking of using a bag before I searched to find this. What worked best for me was putting all the mayo into the bag trying to keep it towards the corner, >>twist and tie<< to seal the bag, then just clipped a corner and squeezed it in like a baker's icing bag. Instead of using the straw simply squeeze the bottle to force some air out then place the bag on it and release the bottle as you squeeze the bag and you have both push and pull action moving it more quickly into the bottle. Keeps the neck from clogging up and stops the mess. Was still a bit clunky but now I have a tall skinny mayo bottle in my door instead of a fat short jar. Not to mention all the other bottles that were all different shapes and only partially full to begin with. 10 minutes of work freed up a good chunk of space in my fridge door.

This just happened to me. Took my car in to get it ready for a very long drive. New oil, brakes, tires, the whole deal. I take an exit to get gas and I hear this terrible grinding noise while braking. I pull into the gas station, hit a bump and hear a very loud knocking. When I go to inspect the front left brake, it’s completely loose, no bolts. My guess is they put the bolts in by hand, then forgot to tighten them down. So now I’ve dropped $1,500 into making sure my car could handle the trip and I’m having car issues because of poor workmanship. 🤬
