Mk12 Mod 3 Scope Install (PA 3-18x44 FFP Athena BPR-MIL)
In this video I demonstrate how to use a Wheeler Engineering professional reticle leveling system (PLRS) in conjunction with a Tipton Ultra Gun Vise to properly level a scope using the two-level system. In this case, it is a Primary Arms 3-18x44 FFP Athena ACSS BRP-MIL reticle riflescope mounted on a Primary Arms cantilever 1.5 scope mount onto my Mk12 Mod 3 project.
The Mk12 Mod 3 has been featured on the channel a handful of times, and is not a military issued gun or nomenclature, it is completely made up. For all intents and purposes it's just a regular AR15 with a 18" 1-8 twist Centurion Arms Mk12 Mod 0/1 barrel, an Expo Arms hard chrome BCG, LaRue MBT-2S trigger, B5 Systems P-Grip 23,...

Upgrade PS90 Recoil Spring for Suppressor Usage

In this video I demonstrate how to fully disassemble a PS90 bolt carrier group and spring assembly for the purposes of replacing the springs with Elite Ammunition's HD Springs. This is helpful to do if you have a PS90 SBR that you *also* intend to suppress, the extra gas in the straight blowback system can lead to several failures, and a higher spring rate can help alleviate these issues. I als...

    How stable is it when shooting or extended. ?

    • @MountLetheHellfire
      @MountLetheHellfire 6 дней назад

      Very stable. There is a wobble for sure since it's hinged, but those teeth where the lock indexes into is very secure, nothing you'll notice when shooting. Haven't had any issues with it binding or attempting to close, or otherwise impacting accuracy. On the extension, I just put some loop tape on the tube so the stock wouldn't wobble on the tube, but that's less on the adapter, and more on the interface for between stocks and buffer extensions

    My SPR build used this rail with an 18 inch PRI Douglas Stainless barrel in 5.56 1/8 twist, thermal fit to a BCM upper. M16 A1 stock on a Aero M16A4 clone lower. Mounted a Meopta Optika 3-18 Scope on it and it’s so much fun to shoot! I didn’t finish load development for it yet but got 10 shots semi rapid fire inside of an inch with a basic load just above starting grain weight, so I’m sure it will get tighter with a little more velocity. Shooting 77gr SMK and Varget powder. Thanks for the video. I think a lot of people follow trends and put together guns that reflect imitation of imitation, especially just doing whatever SF guys did in the last wars, but as we know most of the innovation that eventually transpires in the Military elite units is informed by innovations from the civilian sector namely the competition world, and this handguard is just that, basically a modern competition rifle set up. Barely anybody is hip to these yet, but if you know you know! You obviously have a lot of knowledge and it confirms my choice for a precision gas gun build!

      Firstly, thanks for the very thoughtful comment and feedback, I really appreciate it. I need to get this featured back on the channel, I ended up doing what I talked about and did a “shorty” A4 with an RRA Entry Stock, B5 Type 23 (I hate it, will go with a Type 22) grip, and a MBT-2S trigger. For the money, the Douglas is one of the best barrels out there. Good choice on the 1:8, it’s my go-to twist and does just fine with crap 55gr ammo. I only have irons so far while I weigh my scope options, but I can put shitty 55gr PMC into 1-1/2 to 2 inch groups with the Centurion which is way more than fine IMHO with irons. I do like some of my older clone builds for nostalgia but it takes years for the military to sanction trials, and they’re always filled with a lot of controversy. MP7 over the P90, Barret MRAD over the AI AT-X, the OG Mk 11 program, hell KAC getting contracts over others. The list goes on. The ASR program took USSOCOM half a decade, longer when you factor in the Mk 13 and original AI AW and accurized R700s. I do love this MK 18 SMRs, I have a feeling that Geissele or someone else will do a KAC URX3.1 style of these one day, where the ARCA doesn’t run the full length on the bottom though the MLOK everywhere is a great touch. Super rigid, and one of the few production rails longer than 16” not counting the KAC URX6 in 19” but that won’t work for AR15 IIRC. A big factor in long range accuracy - not precision - is the ability to see your shots. Modern WMLRFs and ballistics apps have spoiled us for sure, but no one can call wind very far, even with flagged known-distance targets. It’s what makes me keep going back to 556 SPR/DMR builds. Extremely low recoil over strings of fire, and you can correct quicker than other ELR optimized rounds. Granted, without the energy on target, but first-hand experience tells me that 77gr 556 being pushed hard will take the life of a human or coyote beyond 600yd - even further - but military engagements is way different than predator control/hunting. You’ll be well served by your build for many rounds. I still need to work up a load for these as well, I have a decent bit of Ramshot TAC and Varget left over ~12 pounds of each to try my hand at a MK262 Mod 1 clone.

    Have you ever had any issue with the actual body of the suppressor spinning when tightening it to the rifle, I have one that I sent back in for the recall but recently it went to tighten it and the body turned and not the hub section 😟 hoping it’s no big deal as that portion isn’t welded together

    • @MountLetheHellfire
      @MountLetheHellfire 18 дней назад

      Are you using it with the adapter for 24mm or direct threading the hub section? That bottom part is fully welded together, nothing should spin apart at all that isn't an adapter. That said if it is an adapter, some of them have jacked up thread pitches so they're either super loose or super tight. But if you hear anything rattling in the main body send it back.

    • @devonsk8s4
      @devonsk8s4 17 дней назад

      @ I’m using the jmac 360 hub break, but that’s not the part that’s spinning, it’s the bottom of the can itself that those devices thread into, the part with all the serial number and what not engraved into it, I noticed it when trying to hand tighten the suppressor onto my ak, 😭 might have to send it back in if that’s no bueno

    Appreciate all the work you put into this vid. Its more work than most people realize. You're very well spoken and fun to listen to. If you ever decide to do another suppressor comparison video, you might consider doing what Solomon (Rooftop Defense) did where he goes out a distance (50-60 yards). I think there's more value in listening to that kind of audio comparison because the speakers aren't getting maxed out, and it helps hear the slight differences much better. I wonder why more people haven't done it.. almost all are right up next to the shooter. Again, great vid!

    That Aguila is pretty poopoo but I will buy it if I'm running low and stop by academy. I run Hornady American Gunner 140 BTHP through my M110A3 and it's right at $1/Rd from lots of places online. Sub-MOA, 2650 FPS, SD of 15, ES of 45ish. When the Federal GMM Berger 130s are $2+/rd, it's hard to justify the price difference. I'm doped to 1200yd on the Hornady stuff and it's very consistent. I'm with you though the price isn't justifiable from a performance standpoint. It's still probably my favorite gun to shoot though and SR-25s are always the right vibe.

      Yeah the whole system - military contracts and price pressure aside - is overpriced but I still love it and it performs. I think if I had a straight up lemon I may not feel as strongly in favor. A few guys I shoot with recommended the same thing, Hornady Match or Gunner, I see that lucky gunner sells the latter in 200rd packs. Do they use small rifle primers? I had one box of Aguila do really well when I broke the rifle in then quickly it went to shit as I showed in the video. Some of that was me but not to that extent. I keep buying up the FGMM 140s when southern defense or bucking horse do sales on them, the brass is really good and is small rifle primed which is why I like it. I keep meaning to do a run of reloads to pick a recipe now that I have a big pile of brass, it'll save me a little over $1.30/Rd with Berger 140s in them

    • @kst8guy02
      @kst8guy02 3 месяца назад

      @@MountLetheHellfire The Hornady American Gunner uses large rifle primers. I don't reload, but I whipped the calipers out and checked my brass to confirm. The aguila is like all I shot for like the first 600rd because I can only shoot 350yd at home and they worked fine on like 2MOA sized steel gongs or IPSCs, but at any real distance on small targets they're crap. For the same money you can get that American Gunner and of course I forgot about the Hornady "Match" with the same BTHP bullet. The 200 round cases are definitely the way to get the best value and that's what I've been doing. I'm going to snag some more of that today from Scheels and yes they use large rifle primers. I'm jealous of the reloading setup. I don't think I have the patience or the knowledge to do it, but it would be nice someday to dedicate some time to figuring it out and it would make the really good Berger stuff worth shooting, for sure. I'm surprised at how few videos I find on youtube of setups like ours. Appreciate the content, man.

      Ah thanks for confirming. Shit, I may start to just buy the small rifle brass separate or try to trade my LRP and 6mm CM for SRP 6.5CM brass. Yeah for ringing gongs I don't mind, but shooting on paper causes a mental block in me since the shitty group is much more noticeable. I should just learn to ignore or only shoot at steel. I used to shoot a decent amount of competitions on active duty and got into reloading to offset the cost. The mid 2010s were the golden age I feel, all of the tech was really good and prices were still low. I learned on RUclips, I'd grab a RCBS Rock Chucker or Lyman turret and a set of good dies from Mighty Armory and a good scale if you ever got the bug to get into it. I run everything progressive with a lot of automation which is why I'm so anal about the primer pocket size. Last thing I need to do is blow up a stack of primers crushing it into the wrong hole 😂 And thanks man I appreciate that. I'm still getting the hang of this RUclips thing. I need to invest in a better camera setup for live firing soon

      @@MountLetheHellfire Yeah shooting paper for groups turns me into an ammo snob - on steel it's way less important. Thankfully I much prefer shooting steel haha. But man don't make me go down this reloading rabbit hole 😂

      Oh nice I saw Capital Armory had that deal I'm tempted to buy a SRBS 556 but I've given them way too much money this last quarter. I grabbed a Hux Flow 22 instead I'm at 30 days on Seems most of the 30 cal cans and muzzle devices are bored at 0.3900 to 0.4100. definitely some good wiggle room and if it was an end cap strike I'd live with it but if you blow an SRBS up it's game over 😭 new form 4 and everything. The only OCL can I have is an OCM5, I have too many SFs so likely won't do another 556 can except for maybe a RC3 Mini or SRBS/SRBSC 556. Next project will have me grabbing a Barrett Mk22 can 💀

    Pretty much what I run on all my AKs, JMAC 360 brakes.I had carbon lock issues where removing the can would remove the muzzle brake at the same time even after usinc loctite. To resolve this issue, I used Vibra Tite Hot Lock extreme temp locker on my Jmacs.

      Someone else commented they use Teflon, I've been using some copper high temp anti seize but I haven't had much issue. I'd definitely use RockSett instead of Loctite though if the muzzle device backs off. My Putnik always works itself off so I wouldn't mind some carbon locking lol
