Deba Knife - filleting a New Zealand snapper

I purchased a deba knife recently. I'm not a professional filleter of fish or an expert on knives, but this deba suits my unhurried method of processing snapper. I catch snapper and other New Zealand fish species from the beach.

I'm not a surfer myself, but I shoot video clips and stills of athletics with my OMD EM1 Mark 3 camera, so I have the necessary gear and experience. You can get close to the action at Te Awanga, and in the morning the sun is in a favourable position. Te Awanga is in Hawke's Bay just north of Cape Kidnappers.

Backyards Tui Feeder, New Zealand
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.3 года назад
This bird feeder is from Backyard Birds of New Zealand. Tuis and silvereyes feed on nectar and fruit and drink sugared water if offered. I painted the feeder fire engine red because tuis are said to be attracted to red. The first part of the clip was shot with a camera on a tripod inside my house. The last part of the clip was shot handheld from my back lawn. Tuis are relatively relaxed about p...
your need to wet the knot when pulling it together thou to prevent friction burns, good knot thou thanks
Oyster catchers in the uk are black and white. 👍
So fast and easy definitely going to make a lot easier on the beach.
if this knot does not have an official name, I'm just going to call it the Welshman's Knot.
This addresses my concerns of casting a large knot through guides. Probably one of the smallest I’ve seen. Thank you
Un nuovo nodo, grazie amico lo proverò sicuramente 👍
I have a pair of boxer shorts just like the lady who ran second place
I believe that these are feral laughing pigeons and not Cape laughing pigeons, I can tell from the plumage color. These can be clearly distinguished by their sound. In this case it would have to be the species (Streptopelia roseogrisa).

Like I'm supposed to carry that with me while fishing?
You pre-tie the rigs at home so when you are out there fishing, you won't waste time tying rigs or just attached a new one if you break off.
Gdluck to her but wasting her time will never make a final against the black cobras
She got in the final
@@karamiaropiha8349 11.02 in heats didn't even make semis ...not having a dig just wasting her time will never beat those girls
Hobbs is going to make at least one world indoor final (and probably another major final) in the next 3-5 yrs.
@@cbmacs sharicka Jackson the new powerhouse coming through and shacarri Richardson 22 years old hasn't even hit her peak ...sorry she be running for 8th spot at best ...common sense really
@@cbmacs: She's a great sprinter and still improving..... but that's as much as someone should dare to utter really. Being realistic Versus sounding overly positive are miles apart
Hi Mark, awesome rod. Where did you get your tripod?
What the distance between nails and the top one?
On my block the top nail is 12cm from each of the two front nails. The two front nails are 14cm apart. But you can choose your own distances.
Awesome tutorial👍👍👍
You go way to fast at the start to even do it??
Do you think this knot is stronger than the spider hitch knot?
Sorry, but I have no experience with the spider hitch.
OK no problem, I have tied this knot 20 times and it hasn't failed once, thanks.
Another year another record. Congrats Zoe.
Terrible video.
incredible knot. I did not know it. very small and very resistant. the best.
Zoe Hobbs got a big bum! lol!!!..
where is this meet, walk about creek all comers?
It's in the description: Hastings, New Zealand
Someone needs to get behind this girl, she's running as fast than what the Jamaican women like Shelly Anne Price and Elaine Thompson were running at the same age. It's very hard for any country to have a sprinter competing against the worlds best in 100m sprints, if she could improve another .2 sec from her 11.07 she would make an Olympic 100m final which would be remarkable
She needs to go overseas and train with a college in the US or time in Jamaica, NZ doesn’t have the caliber of trainers or the competitive competition needed to excel. She’s very raw, If I compared her running style/technique to the current elites she would make the top 10. Watch a side by side and you’ll see the comparison I’m trying to make, But with more experience in sure she could be one to watch
@@TaneBluey shes got a big bum lol
no she's not , as talented as she may be. She was 24 in this video and when you commented. By that age both those Jamaicans were doing 10.70. ** Remember, there's always someone reading posts who doesn't believe stuff just because someone posts it on a social media platform
I would tend to lubricate with saliva before tightening up. Friction on the mono will weaken the line
how dumb are u……need a jig to tie this simple rig
old dog on the fish rips
Wow her and the second place are crazy fast!!!
*I bought these and used them at the river where I get snags often they have done a **enjoyable.fishing** recommend great job of not breaking along with some strong line I purchased as well. They are super durable and easy to use.*
"Who won dad?" "We all did son, we all did."

Should have shown how to get same length to 2nd loop!
I would choose to make it by hand. This thing is too time consuming.
Was shown this knot by a top Irish match angler he was shown it by a top Welsh match angler its the only leader knot i use now ,not too well known but very effective . Thanks for sharing 🍻✌😎
dropper rigs for surf casting , half the casting distance...
Don't need to cast far in NZ.
They give you more cast distance coz the weights at the bottom ? lol
Nice work. I get a bit anal on the length of my droppers - problem solved.
what was her time?

What’s the go with green balls
They're an optional extra. I'm not a complete believer in attractants (bling) for fishing, but beads add something visual to a video clip.
Great idea mate, anyone can do the " dropper loop " it's getting the twist in the loop that's the trick .
that 1st gen fathom is hands down the best reel ive thrown gotta know how to use the brakes on it loosen up that spool tensioner and hatteras cast that mf to space
Did you get any more footage?
Yes, but nothing of value. I'll shoot again when the surf is up.
@@markroberts3222 any footage of the body boarders lol 🤙🥴
Thanks for the review!
Simple strong knot, what i needed
Thanks got it first time 👍
I just made my board I'm tying Sabiki rigs this works great all the same size and I like the twist in the dropper loop I will try it on larger rigs
in your opinion which would be the best knot to use braid to braid the double uni knot vs the blood knot which one would you choose
I don't use braid, so I'm not the right person to advise you. I'm sure others on RUclips can answer your question.
simply beautiful, something practical and strong, thank you, greetings from cape coral, thank you very much
Great knot! Been using it with 11 lb to 30 lb shock leader and it's worked flawlessly dozens of trips so far. It was so simple that I was skeptical at first. I do use a drop of glue on the knot. Haven't tried without.
Why so many green beads if they can’t see one why would they see 4
It’s probably to help it stick out from the leader
Clear and concise instructions to tie a simple, incredibly strong knot, capable of passing through the smaller eyes. Thank you Mark, much appreciated.
