Hey! My name is Will McMorran. I am a 20 year old triathlete and runner from New Zealand.
I am currently training for my first Ironman. My goal is to finish in less than 10 hours.

My Nemesis Race | WUU2K 2024
In 2023, I raced WUU2K (Wellington Urban Ultra) 21km with the goal of winning the race. I had a pretty rough day and fell very far from my goal. In 2024, I came back with the goal of avenging myself on this course and doing a lot better than last year. I once again didn't have the day I hoped for and was beaten by the course. WUU2K has become my nemesis race and I'm now looking forward to 2025 to hopefully, finally, have a race here that I can be proud of.

Hiiiiii

give faultline a go, it's even better.
i ran the 11km this year - maybe ill give one of the longer distances a crack in 2025
Shes a tough course. My legs were knackered after the climb out of Berhampore Golf course.
for sure! yeah my memories from last year were mostly from the first half, i forgot how brutal that section of the course is !!
Great work! I was in the place behind you and can attest to the cramps in the final kms
Well done!! yep its a pretty brutal course at the best of times - hope you're proud of yourself and enjoyed it out there :))
Unlucky Will! Go again and keep you head high! You'll keep improving
cheers! exactly, back to work and i'll be back and better than ever hopefully
Well done but you went out way too hard . Still a great time
cheers! yep definitely was too optimistic !
@@will_mcmorran aren’t we all in the first 1km 😂😂
@@AndreRees exactly!!
How did you record it? Is there like a tri function on your watch or something like that?
yep exactly - so you fnisih the swim and press lap and it moves into t1, lap again and it moves to bike etc etc
Yay im the first comment and i love ur vids
What makes everyone think they can be teachers? Clout? Narcissism? Their combined form megalomania? Tell us what chant you use to keep your mind clear; this was basic information told poorly because you are very green at this.
What the yap!?
I think it's beginner advice feom a beginner with experience maybe... he want to make content on something he is passionate about, so he is starting at the right place. I think your comment doesn't mean your criticism is valid because it isn't constructive which makes it feel hypocritical. What could he have done better maybe...
@@sonitclef8675 .....................'Tell us what chant you use to keep your mind clear' If you stop being a snowflake I gave him the absolute best advice as some tough love.
Whats ur problem bro
Are the pull tabs on the necessary I wonder, seem a waste and potentially dangerous if anything were to get tangled I'm them while running
probably not necessary but ive never had and issue with them or even thought about them really - i guess you could cut them off if you were worried
@@will_mcmorran cheers will, Ya, I just bought a pair. In fairness, they feel great to run, and it may be all in my head about them getting tangled in something. I'm thinking of cutting them off alright, which seems a shame, because they are a beautiful shoe
@@StephenCowley-zo2rq nice! i think you'll probably be fine without cutting them to be honest - I'm glad you are liking them so far
Smooth not fast. Gonna try remember this next time I’m flapping in a race! 😅
haha :) hope it helps!
😎 🆒️

100% with you! Structured workouts are alwags on the kickr, but longer/volume ridea are usually outdoors. It's a great balance.
I really misread that as 3 years.
M'erica!🦅🦅🦅
After a few minutes of bindge watching your content i found this, didnt know you do strength training to balance your stats
First time seeing this channel and i already know im subbing. I just love finding random RUclips channels dedicated to something like woodworking, running, and other stuff. Love your content.
thanks mate :) appreciate you!
@@will_mcmorran Your welcome and always keep it up!
I agree but I live in port douglas😊
Good going
Just ordered one seeing as I want to try longer distances than I’m use to. I’ve only ever ran track distances and marathons so I’ll defitnitely need this when I’m doing 3+ hour runs of over 26.2 miles
noice, i hope it works well for you!
Miles miles miles. You’re in New York. Miles!!!!!
this is true tbf
Keep it going
I run a half marathon through the bush without needin no trail blanket.
compulsory gear.
Good luck!
cheers!

Nz Wellington ohiro bay?
not ōwhiro bay but yeah welly
Just like every wahoo kickr core owner the unit makes your bike tip to the right.
Is this a thing?
Thanks for this, ran with you until after the bunch split - most run footage of me ever! 🤣
haha! well done mate very great work :))
@@will_mcmorranwas my 1st marathon, 2:56:44 🥳 So very grateful for this footage
i'm so pumped for you thats incredible! glad i could capture some of it :)
So true, big inspiration❤
Rotorua has broken a few of us over the years. I'm thinking of going back next year if I survive Feilding in November; it will be 11 years since my last marathon. Might see you there.
wicked that you're getting back to the marathon distance! all the best :)
Keep it up great to see a kiwi on here
cheers!
very similar to my strategy as well. Well done!
cheers!
Also new sub❤
I used to live in Rotorua ❤
Amazing job
thanks :)
Ok nice

How does the Rotorua course compare to the Auckland course in terms of elevation and effort
I would say Rotorua is easier - i think the overall elevation is similar, but akl is a lot more up and down over the first half, rotorua just has a couple big hills - i remember noticing the hills in Auckland but not so much in Rotorua. however Auckland has road lanes closed off - rotorua does not and that really sucks IMO, your just running basically in the gutter on the side of the road for most of the race
Awesome man! I just did my first 5k. Training for a 10k now. Will catch up to a marathon one day maybe. But happy for you!
thanks :) well done to you!
Hi I've a question please. So, I've a olympic distance triathlon June 1st. So, 3 weeks. The issue is, my 1500m in the pool is constantly around 48- 50 mins. The cutoff is 55 mins on the day. I'm doing the distance constantly under the time limit, while taking loads of breaks (to catch my breath) I'm not swim fit. I'm still worried about the open water swim (it's a river) even tho I'm getting under the cutoff time by 5 mins in thr pool and taking an many breaks. A part of me is confident, the other is telling me I won't make the cutoff. The first side of me is I'm telling myself I'll go a bit faster on the day of fear of not making the cutoff time, due to adrenaline Any advice?? Getting nervous for it now! Thanks for any help/advice you could give

I do have some advice: in terms of race day, i think the hype of the day will help and you'll be able to do better than you think. drafting of other swimmers will def help, if its downriver that will make a HUGE difference - I've got confidence in you that you'll smash it and come out of the water feeling pretty good and in terms of training, i would recommend focusing on shorter intervals, that way you can hold your form better and ingrain that better technique, which is ultimately gonna help you go faster - you can clearly swim the distance so i would focus over the next few weeks on doing shorter intervals faster than you hope to swim on race day hope this helps :)) let me know if ya have more questions
