Colossus of Rhodes Project _Construction
Colossus of Rhodes PROJECT. A european initiative to revive one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. This project originates from the ideas, the expectations and the hopes of some young professionals coming from various european countries: Greece, Spain, Italy and United Kingdom. The determined aim is very ambitious: to rebuild the Colossus of Rhodes, the God of Sun, taking into consideration the modern standards. The purpose of the project is not to propose a copy of the original, bronze, 40 meters high structure, but to arouse the same emotions that visitors felt, more than 2200 years ago........

Very good idea but they will not let it happen. That is good for GREECE not only for foreigners but for governments that serve foreign interests and not GREEKS. Governments appointing them with vested interests are trying to destroy GREECE by any means. They beat education, family, religion, sanctuaries and sanctuaries. @@wal7 they havent reached the funding goal yet , i think if they manage to raise enough money from people or from the goverment they will start

I hope people will keep the making of this project a thing on a cultural level, and not turn it into some weird neo-hellenic religious icon some people seem to be mentioning in some of these comments...
I just think it should be as an entity completely irrelevant to religion in general as a project.

I don't think it needs a museum inside it, I mean the structure itself is the piece. And secondly that gold artists impression looks very tacky. Maybe something like we see in the painting's that depict it would be better.
Such a thing is largely realistic but given Greece's economic ruckus, will it actually be done?

As a citizen of the United States, I commemorate this project. It's really awesome to see things like this built in our world today. We have tons of building technologies and skills, and yet we no longer build great wonders like we used to hundreds of years ago.
Seriously, they should build a one. Would be a great tourist attraction and money spinner

I like this idea. Yet, given the terrible budget shrinking due to EU policies, the priority should go to maintaining existing heritage - ancient Greek monuments, museums, etc. Our European heritage is falling apart - not as brutally as in the Syrian archeology sites destroyed by Islamists, but it is just as tragic.
