“Data storytelling” is a buzzword today, but often misinterpreted and misunderstood. In this video I break down what a “data story” actually is. Absolutely. What I find so compelling about communication is how different people have different preferences, and we have to adjust accordingly!
i always get ignored in group settings because my voice is too quiet even though what i say is really funny and within topic. thanks for the video
@@SHU-ko1id, I hope you get the reactions you want in the future when you feel fully confident to use your voice. I’m glad the video helped!
But there are some stubborn species out there which is annoying to speak even with. But, you have to. That's the main problem every nice person is having but can't control the fact that they are being used even knowing that 🥲

How do you get the code editor
Below are a list of the tools I used and how you can get them: - ChatGPT, the generative AI chatbot developed by OpenAI (chat.openai.com/). Note: You can use this link to register for a free ChatGPT account - MARP, a tool that lets you use markdown code to create slides (marp.app/). Note: You don’t need to download anything from this website. It is just provided here for reference - Visual Studio Code, a code editor that lets you preview how the MARP markdown code looks as slides (code.visualstudio.com/). Note: After downloading and opening Visual Studio Code on your computer, you must download its “MARP for VS Code” plugin, which lets you do all the slide previewing of MARP markdown code (marketplace.visualstudio.com/...)
There is something about what you said, I never thought about the now. Thank you

Excellent - particularly about knowing it can and must be used for human ends. I made endless slide presentations in a Community College back in the seventies and it was a much more laborious process, but the same communication skills applied. Back then I often had to discourage teachers from putting a regular letter sized typed document on an overhead and expecting them to read it. We had a large print typewriter to help! Plus ca change, plu la meme chose.
So glad you enjoyed the framework, and I agree - AI can help us not only make presentations faster, but in a more human-centric, user-friendly way.
thanks for the explanation even though on your second example you actually have an answer on how long it would take to fix the problem. the first example show that you estimated 2 weeks but you don't know how long it will take vs on the second example you actually know what the problems are and how long it will take to fix this... in the end it is not about how you will be presenting your ideas but actually if you know your issues and how/when it will be resolved
That's an excellent point. The combination of *actually* knowing the answer, and then delivering it in a clear and concise way, is how we influence leadership with good communication.
Loved this video for two things. First the topic itself and the second one is the presentation of data on the chart. Just WoW.
So glad you enjoyed the talk and found it helpful!!
Wonderfully explained. I have a paper on my internship to turn in in a few weeks. While I'm definitely not bad at writing it myself, I'll definitely be using these techniques to increase the quality of it!
I'm so glad the video was helpful and I wish you the best of luck on finishing your paper!
I liked how you teached both how to make a simple presentation from code and how to prompt chatgpt (3.5!) to achieve it by making it change seats. It would have been interesting to let ChatGPT iterate on this process several times, like update the presentation, review again as the CEO, until it cannot "improve it" anymore. Good job, subscribed ! And I agree : AI is not about making the world colder, it's about teaching us how to be better humans, because we have those models which gather a lot of wisdom and knowledge that can benefit anyone. We live in such a world where this is possible, having a "program" which knows a LOT of things, and which can help us reason and think better by giving us insights, help and assistance. It's nothing short from amazing :)
So glad you enjoyed the video! And I absolutely agree - with the power of the ChatGPT API, programming in that kind of iteration is definitely possible and worth further exploration!
Great video! I really liked your idea of using AI to assist in being the creator, presenter, and audience.
So glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful!
I hate telling these 'leadership' people how to operate a dashboard while they get paid twice what I'm getting.
That’s fair. I’ve presented dashboards to people that made probably three times my salary. I think of it this way: while we might not make as much as leadership, we’re helping them make business decisions that often affect the health of the entire company. They make the amounts they do because of that primary responsibility, and it is our secondary responsibility to guide them in making those decisions
Nice
So glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful!
super cool. now my question is are these slides editable in powerpoint, google slides, figma, etc? for instance, can i move the text around to make space for images and branding?
The MARP tool lets you export as a PDF, HTML, or PPTX (Powerpoint) file. Important note though for the PPTX file: the PPTX file contains pre-rendered images rather than text you can edit. As a workaround, I recommend the following steps: 1. Use MARP to export to PDF 2. Use this free tool from Adobe to convert from PDF to PPTX: www.adobe.com/acrobat/online/pdf-to-ppt.html 3. Edit the resulting PPTX as you normally would (you can now edit text and move it around to make space for images/branding) It's a bit clunky but gives you the flexibility you need
This was really well done. I appreciate your understanding of the AI and humane interaction. This was helpful!
Fantastic and hope you enjoy trying it out!

So here is an exception for me. Often during competitions (not business presentations), the number of slides allowed is limited between 10-12. In that cases, I would rather remove the table of contents to fit one more key element of the presentation.
That's a great perspective for slide design, especially in those competition scenarios. I would add that you don't even need to have a slide to discuss the agenda. As long as you verbally say something that the audience should expect or look forward to during the presentation, you've set them up for an engaging experience.
I was gonna start a presentation the old way tomorrow, but I think i need to revamp my starting line now after watching this.
It's definitely the secret to making your presentation exceptional!

Another really good tip (which few speakers actually DO) : when someone asks a question ----REPEAT the question back at the audience - most will NOT have heard it, and it gives the speaker a chance to make the question clearer. I LOVE IT when the speakers do this...esp as your ears aren't facing backwards to hear anyone behind you!!!!
That is a perfect add, which not only helps the audience understand what was asked, but also gives the the speaker more time to think about what to say!
