Why you should use an IPHONE for real estate video

Is the iPhone a good option for real estate video? In this video I go over my thoughts on using a phone to shoot real estate videos. I cover why I like the iPhone, why I don't, the gear need needed to get started and basic settings for an iPhone setup. dope!
Great video, I used to shoot a ton of photo/video real estate stuff with a Sigma 10-20 and a D200. Looking to get back into it after a decade or so with my Sony A73, I was considering the 12-24 GM but this 14mm with 1.8 and at about half the price seems to make lot more sense.
I have another question for you, if what you looking for is the best quality, will you still use this lens?
Do you feel you need a 12mm
Awesome! You did almost everything a realtor can use! How much did you charge for this?
Good stuff! Looking to rent out the 10-18 for some real estate work going forward
Canon users are all missing amazing third party optics ... fcuk canon
Great video, did you shot in SLOG3?did you use a lut?
Yes this was slog3! I will have to track down the specific lut I used but I definitely used one
You’re actually stopping down when you close the aperture (the numbers get bigger stopping down). This video was great, and your shots as well. Cool to see video and photography. I’m doing architectural and real-estate with the Laowa 9mm f2.8 currently, and looking to go to the Sigma so I’m not having to bring my Sony 15mm with me for details. The Laowa is superior optically in the corners (it’s almost zero distortion without in camera corrections), but of course it’s a manual lens with no zoom either. The manual part is fine, since I have it almost permanently at f8 focused to infinity for video and photography.
Cool video, Dan! I’d love to see one of how you film.
Thank you!! I will definitely be making one of these soon
Great video dude.....I am actually about to work on the same review with this lens. I found all the results that you mention and agree 100%. I got it with my zv-e10II (just to review). My typical real estate setup is a a7c with 12-24mm F4 (I shoot everything bracket at F8 so for photography doesn't matter, for video I have the 16-35mm GM). Great little lens for sure! Nice job bud! Keep it up!
thank you I appreciate this! looking forward to seeing your review
i use this lens and i shoot only one 2.8.( remember 2.8= to 4.5) video is no like photo, no all need to be on focus, you need separation
Add f stop along with your sample footage and at what focal lenth you have shoot that sample. it easy to compare and understand the capability of the product. also if you can do comparison with Sony 10-20 F4 & Sony 10-18 F4 OSS one that will be great.
that's a good idea. I will do that moving forward!
Very nice!
Thanks!
@@dclifton Are these the only two lenses you use for RE video work?
@kggreer5738 yep! and I use the 10-18mm for probably 90% of my shots
Any 10 to 11mm lens at F2.8 that has less distortion for the A6700? Or you reckon this is the best option for real estate.
I think the Tamron 11-20 may have a tad less distortion at 11mm but I overall they are very similar and you can’t go wrong with either one. I have not personally tested the Sony 10-20mm 4.0 yet!
I wondered since this aps-c lens … does it mean when mount it on aps-c body it will be 10-18mm or 15-27 ?
When you mount it on a APS-C body, you’ll have the same perspective as a full frame camera with a 15-27mm!
Nice to see some BTS, do you shoot your video in 60FPS or just 30FPS?
Thank you! I mostly shoot 30 FPS to help reduce file sizes a bit but if you are newer to gimbal use 60fps makes sense because you can save a lot of shakey/poorly filmed shots slowing down to 40-50%.
Great video. Can you post the link to the final videos that you have produced, would be interested to see the finished results.
Thank you! here are a few links to some of my final videos ruclips.net/video/capOgde174Y/видео.html instagram.com/reel/C8kIRmduVyX/?igsh=d3dicDc2YXBkZXlk
What lens are you using in this video to film yourself? THANK YOU!!!
I used the Sony 14mm to film this one!
Nice! Been wondering what to buy! Thanks
You should look into the Sony 600mm f/4 ;)

Looking forward to your other iPhone Real Estate videos. Speed can become more important to the client if they have multiple listings for you to shoot in a day. Have you shot bracketed photos with the iPhone?
I’ve only shot photos a few times with the iphone and results have been pretty good! I use camera pixels for brackets. Have you shot brackets on the phone?
@@dclifton I'm just beginning to get into the photo side of things. I have a Sony FX3 but really thinking using my iPhone can step up my productivity. There are so many iPhone photo apps it's a bit overwhelming trying to figure out the easiest/fastest to set up bracketing with and CamerPixels seems good.
I have the Sony 14mm 1.8 GM Lens. I use it for Landscape, Night sky, Nature, City/Street/Urban Photography. The Sony 14mm 1.8 GM is an excellent Lens, but it is not for everyone, it can be hard to handle such an ultra wide angle Lens. I would like a more compact fx 15mm 2.8 manual focusing Lens, then it would be packed more often into my bag !
Nice vid thanks! Subbed.
Thanks for the sub!
Great shots! Did you use the 10-18 for everything? Or do you have a prime for detail shots?
oh wow good catch. I uploaded the wrong video with a few clips taken with the Sony 24-70mm for those detail shots. Thanks for catching. I updated the video description to show both lenses used.
@dclifton No problem! I have the Sigma 10-18mm for my a6700, plus the 18-50mm f2.8. :D
Hi, did you notice any focus jump/focus pulsating when you close up to the subject with autofocus on with this lens (PZ 16-35mm F4 G)? Mine seems to have the issue when I use gimbal to go in closer to the subject's face, it seems to have that zoom pump, but it is actually the focus going error for a very fast milliseconds (or looks like focusing the back of the subject in mine), and then slowly focus back to the subject, and it is quite frequent. Or sometimes it would just make that whole scene to have the shaking stutter effect for a millisecond. Attached here is an example (not my video, but a clip I manage to found online which has the same issue as mine), look at the table at the bottom area and you'll understand what I meant: ruclips.net/video/DqZnYqg3zRA/видео.html Much appreciated for your replies, thank you.
Hey! Sorry for the delay. I haven't had that issue with the 16-35 PZ! What camera are you using with it?
@@dclifton sony a7s3
Thank you Dan for a Video!, I have a problem with FCPX 10.6.1 when Apply as effect blur in vertical video show me in the half bottom a black screen, do you know how can I solve this?
same problem have you already fix this issue?
No 😢 @@EminenceLab2023
@@EminenceLab2023 saw the answer on Facebook, they said to Add an adjustment layer below the motion blur and it will correct the issue.
How do you install motion blur in the title Filed?
Sorry I meant to add that into the video descrtiption! 10154417130356796.sellfy.store/p/vwad/ Ryan Nangles motion blur
Nice video! Do you record in x1 or 0.5?
Thanks! I always record on .5x
As a real estate agent, I much prefer the style shown in this video, as opposed to a swath of 1 second detail shots lumped together You really get no semblance of the layout with just detail shots
can you tell me please what adapter did you use?
Sorry for the delayed response. I didn't use anadapter! I had the Zeiss in e-mount
If you do need an adapter, I've used metabones speed booster in the past with alot of success. Metabones makes great lens adapters
Watt if wifi goes out for a lil is that plug still gona function
No I learned this recently when my router went out. The plug doesn’t work without internet connection
You can get smart plugs that automatically save your settingsas default just like some smart bulbs save there lighting schedule when wifi goes out
picked one up new for $999, can't beat that deal imo, I have a ton more lenses to supplement it though, can't imagine only shooting this wide...
Yeah, that's a steal. I definitely have my lazy days where I don't want to swap lenses, but yeah most of the time you want to change focal length for those detail shots
Nice shots ! How is the 14mm Gm with the fx30 ?
thanks! 14mm with fx30 is a great combo. Clips come back very crispy!!
I set up a Kasa plug on my modem/router, and created a timer to turn it off at 3am and back on at 3:10am weekly. It worked reliably for about a month, and then it turned off, but not back on. This wouldn't have been a huge problem, except it was happening at my second home 1300 miles away. So now, I am cut off from my smart home completely since the model is down.
Would you get this lens (crop 1.5 to 21mm too) or Sony 12-24mm F4 to pair with Sony A7RV and Tamron 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 as everyday lens?
What’s the use case? For real estate I’d personally go 12-24. I think you’d be happier with the versatliity of the 12-24. 14mm def is more of a niche/specialty lens
great and informative video!
Thank you for this video. What cheaper option would you recommend?
Sorry for super delay. you probably already have a lens but Sigma 16-28 / Tamron 17-28 are both solid choices. Those should be under $800
@@dclifton Oh, thank you so much! I was considering these
Thanks man. I needed this video. Just subbed. and just ordered this lens because of your review hitting all the points I needed.
Appreciate the comment, glad I could help! Comments like this make me want put more videos out
What made you choose this lens over one of the 12-24's? Since you're shooting indoors and have limited room to back up, do you ever feel like 12mm would be better for you?
Price was the biggest factor for me! I would love to use the 12-24 though :) I’ve found the 14mm has been wide enough for my real estate shooting, even super small spaces like hallway baths/closets have been easy to capture
A CV12 is a much lighter, much cheaper lens that's not as bright but ypu dont want shallow dof for this use case. That cheap kicker light to your right is doing nothing.
Great vid. Loved it!
Thanks so much!
I have no knowledge about Camera, but I like your video, subscribed it.
Nice and helpful! Could you tell me the product to rig up infront of this lens?!
Yea it’s the nisi 100 filter holder for Sony 14mm www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1674997-REG/nisi_nip_100_sony14_100mm_filter_holder_for.html?ap=y&smp=y&msclkid=b3411390a65812d5369a76bdcd319217
Amazing 😍please can you make a video on the speed ramp that you used in this video??
Thank you! I can definitely start making videos on how I edit my real estate videos
Will you do a comparison video of best lenses for real estate video?
Definitely!! I’ll get that on my list of videos to make
Thank you!
What gimbal are you using with this?
I’m using the DJI ronin rs3!
professionals use 2 bodies anyway
I’m interested in a slow light up mode to mimic rising sun. Know of any?
Yea just don’t try to mimic rising sun it’s not gunna work out 😂 get a dimmable light and point it away from your plants maybe but even then it’s indoor for a reason it’s not gunna be like outdoor
