Drum lessons & Drum cover with Christophe Arent

Chan güito is in need right now in Cuba. If someone that he helped some day see this…. Please put your hand in your hard for him.
Tucu tucu pa pa ma ma
Changuito sounds like he's the Uncle everybody loves.😂
No wonder I saw Dave Weckl live and in the middle of the solo he started playing Cuban rumba with the same flow as a Cuban. I understand now :D I love my music.
the pattern is active and then a rest and accent an upbeat to finish the phrase. if you go back beat automatic pilot youll get thrown. gotta take the rest. a 16th i think or 2. pretty sweet .
Cool 😎
Speaking from their hearts. Great masters.
I got to take a lesson at Changuito's house in Cuba. Talk about a treat! And now, more than 20 years later, I'm still working on the stuff he showed me. For anyone interested in further study, my old buddy Chuck Silverman co-wrote (with Changuito) an excellent book called "Changuito: A Master's Approach to the Timbales." I'm pretty sure it's still available from Warner or Manhattan Music.
Wow man awesome. I want to travel down to Cuba to study conga for a couple weeks. Jealous of your lesson! Did he write any conga books?
@@Jrenglehorn To my knowledge Changuito himself never wrote any books-apparently Chuck's is the only one that covers Changuito's playing in depth. Definitely worth picking up if you're a serious player!
@@Jrenglehorn Check out the "Evolution of the Tumbadoras". It's a goldmine if you really study it.
Well my right ear enjoyed this very much
Maestros
Not only music..drums were the first cell phones😁🇨🇦
I don't get why he struggles with this? what is difficult about this? excuse my ignorance..
According to my drums teacher, Weckl once said "you can only play samba as well as the Brazilians if you're born in Brazil"; and I'm quite sure the same goes for other Latin rhythms (well, many other rhythms overall of course).
It's true! I actually ended up moving to Brazil, largely to improve my samba and other Brazilian/Latin rhythms (and especially rhythms of candomble). Been here nearly 20 years now and my samba playing has improved dramatically-indeed, some folks here say I sound like a native Brazilian player. But I know and accept that I'll never be able to play samba with the same exact feel the Brazilian cats have, just as they'll never have quite the same swing or shuffle feel that I have (being a native-born American). Not surprisingly, here I mostly get called to play or record American styles-blues, jazz, soul, rock, etc.-because I sound "authentic" in those settings. Only occasionally do I get called to do Brazilian styles...and usually then only by those looking for something a bit different.
Not true Dave Weckl is not even Latino & some Asian girl plays as good as any Latino or Brazilian drummer some where in Asia.
@@royaldomain4055 as a latino i can say is true, weckl and some asian girl can do it just as well
The point is listen a lot of music.if you listen samba during the years, you going to have the feel and groove inside.and obviously a lot of practice.
Glad they got the chance to share their amazing legacy
Wario! 1:10
Why doesn't Changuito play the accents on the conga? He's yelling at Dave instead..LOL..
Anyone has the transcription of the groove?
This gives me hope 🙂
My favorite part is when he's screaming 'boom' in spanish
Holy cow this is awesome :)
Historic and revolutionary.
Must have been around when he released ,"The Next Step"
The drummer looks like Captain Sig From Deadliest Catch.
Did they record anything together?
Difficile per dave..paura
Changed my opinion of weckl he seems a very humble guy.
Business in the front. Party in the back 🤙🏻
Dave Weckl the Buddy Rich's son, Learn The Songo Groove from the Master
THESE.....WERE....THE DAYS!!!!!! AHHHHHHH Perfection
Does anyone know if this song exists somewhere ? its catchy like hell!
One year late but if you didt'n find it, that's one of the Changuito's Songo Drum Movements (#3 specifically) , he performs this one in a DVD La Histora Del Songo
its basically songo. Just look up old los van van records
very nice, i like it.
EVERY DRUMMER NEEDS IN HIS RESUME LEARN ABOUT AFROCUBAN RYTHMS , TWO VIRTUOSO IN SCENE 🎶🎵🎼🎶🥁🥁🥁
" I need more cowbell " 🤣
Believe in Jesus Christ of Nazareth for salvation, seek Him. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life All of us sin and our sin has separated us from God Jesus Christ is God's only provision for our sin. Through Him we can know and experience Gods love and plan for our lives We must individually receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, then we can know and experience Gods love and plan for our lives
0:45 Anyone know if those are 5 stroke rolls? Trying to learn that awesome fill. Thanks!
They're 4-stroke ruffs. Weckl abuses that lick, in a good way
Im not sure these new virtuosos respect and really revere the "old heads" the way weckl and his era did. I think its social media-- you dont have to travel to south america to learn a particular feel indigenous to a region because guess what... Somebody already uploaded a video of the "breakdown" of that feel. Things are different... Not sure its good eother
Cool to see. #OdedMusic #OdedFriedGaon #Audioded
All these popular percussionist are bankrupt of the clave . Thats why its funny to see all these funny ‘best’ or ‘top 10’ etc youtube videos. Cuban percussion is on a different level
Dave Weckl? Wow what a random find. I saw him in Hollywood like 15 maybe 20 years ago, maybe more. Some show at a small club, they only allowed suit and tie. It was weird. 2 drink min too.
