Jet Set Radio - Dreamcast Express Vol. 5 PV
Promotional advertisement of Jet Set Radio from the 5th volume of Dreamcast Express; This footage is even earlier than TGS, some of these clips were recycled in the official Japanese trailer(s).
Lot's of alpha stuff going on here, like the walled off smaller Shibuya (most likely for gameplay testing), earlier logo colors and cops actually holding guns. Original spray arrow model, too.

Promotional video of Jet Set Radio, from the 5th Volume GDROM that came with Dorimaga (magazine). This preview shows some scrapped missions, early textures and unfinished level designs, as well as the original HUD concept, including a single clip of when the game had a mini-map. This is the same video that looped on the big screen at TGS, when the game was first shown off, FYI.

3rd time acquiring the "platinum killer" retro gamer trophy / achievement, I've done this for PS4/5 and Steam. Decided to upload this because some goofy stuff happened. Music: Spin Dizzy (Pac-Man World), Grave Danger (Pac-Man World) & We Are Pac-Man (Chinese Ver.) by Namco Bandai.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater | N-Gage (Elissa)

A playthrough of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for the Nokia N-Gage, without commentary; Elissa Steamer's career mode. Decided not to do commentary just because it was really late, I wanted to play through the game a few times before going to bed; The N-Gage version is actually pretty solid even on real hardware, given it has both bluetooth and arena support, score leaderboards, a replay editor and FO...

Bought yet another Mountain Dew edition XBOX, this was the contents of the hard drive before upgrading to an SSD. I've never seen 46 soundtracks before, some of them surpassing 99 songs.. way too many to show each playlist (9 of them contained Nickleback); Previous owner also using the Team4za cheat code lol, caught in 480i :camera_flash: Ignore LithiumX, I backed up the drive contents before t...

An obscure music track that nobody seems to remember except for me. Composed either Chuck Carr, Matt Furniss or some dude at Womb music, the credits are vague.

I always wondered were this guy came from you could play as him in sega superstar tennis
This one is pretty obscure.
From what I can tell, nobody has uploaded this yet.. Hold my beer.
🍻
Oh my god, i literally launched my controller at the wall trying to get this trophy. And y'know what? I still didnt even get it. I think the highest i got was round 7 before giving up. Still the only trophy i havent gotten in this game. Clearly you are a better man then me. Godspeed my friend.
You need to learn the first 3 Pac-Man patterns, the same I use in the video. There is the cherry pattern (round 1), the strawberry/orange patterns (rounds 2-4, a small change to the cherry pattern) and the apple pattern (round 5 to like the 9th key) ruclips.net/video/Bin0vu8Hp0g/видео.html
Modern D-PADs suck
It's a little jarring hearing the uncensored music here since they were very obviously censored on the PS1 and Dreamcast versions. Watching the video further it looks like it's only Euro-Barge that's uncensored. Whoever was in charge of that really screwed up lol.
It's a port I've been curious about for a long time and I'm very impressed at how it's pretty much exactly as the PS1 original, which is even more impressive considering the timeframe it came out; here's a PS1 game (that was still a few years old by that point) with all its features largely intact (and with bonuses!) and it's playable on the go, and pre-DS, pre-PSP; mindblowing stuff for sure. The audio is what impressed me the most, funnily, especially compared to how the N64 games infamously were (even moreso as the N64 port of 3 was a year or so prior), or various GBA titles that went for the digitized audio approach like Dave Mirra 3. It does seem to be missing a few songs, from what I've noticed (Superman being the most notable, but also Here & Now and New Girl), but the fact that it has all the others, in full and in rather good quality, is mighty impressive. It's extremely commendable work. I honestly wonder if they ever considered porting THPS2 after this, or if the inclusion of those THPS2 levels was simply as a compromise of sorts. Regardless, the porting team did a fantastic job, and I still need to look into some of the other titles they developed on N-Gage (off the top of my head they also ported Pandemonium!, and from what I've heard it's also a great port)
Pandemoium, Tomb Raider and Collin McRae are all incredibly well done given the specs of the phone, IdeaWorks 3D was surely a power house, perhaps even the "lobotomy software" of the N-Gage, if you're familiar with Quake, Duke Nukem and Power Slave (Exhumed) for the SEGA Saturn. Someone else here complained about the audio which is mostly the fault of EKA2L1; The music is compressed to 8000hz and yes, a few songs are missing probably due to cartridge space, but they sound just fine on the phone itself.. I much prefer them to be a little crunchier than how oddly cut up they were on Nintendo 64, not to mention given this is a symbian device, they could have easily copped out and went with midi covers instead. The extra levels are my favorite part, but I've maybe 40 or so replays on my actual N-Gage thanks to the editor feature, it's pretty sweet though nothing in-depth. Great to see you again.
Thats so weird “ny” was a “bonus” level when it was originally supposed to be a normal level in thps…then somehow “the hangar” and “philidelphia” and “venice beach” from thps2 are both bonus levels?! Did they know there probably wouldnt be a port of thps2 for n-gage?
I would imagine thps2 is beyond the scope of the N-Gage, all of the back ported levels are the splitscreen versions, which has some missing geometry; No music plays as well. I think they were included simply to beef up the port, since they went out of their way to add online leaderboards, as well as a replay editor / submitter.
That's awesome to catch footage from this version of the game, having never got to play on that handheld. They needed a lot more of these kind of ports back then, to have made it. We know how that went, though.
The N-Gage did receive a decent amount of ports, and even some exclusive games like Glimmerati, One and High Seize which are all very fun to play, but most of the system's best titles like Asphalt, Collin Mcrae, Worms, Sims.. these were on other handhelds like PSP and DS, sometimes the exact same game just with better graphics (Asphalt, and especially Asphalt 2 (psp)). I think they understood this when they launched the N-Gage 2.0, as well as making it a global product service for most nokia phones at the time instead of one specific symbian device, and by not just getting brand stuff like tetris and resident evil, but taking some J2ME exclusive games like asphalt 3 and making exclusive 3D versions. It was an interesting time in the mobile space.
this looks really good. hope the devs got a raise for this
Holy smokes, that is some CRUNCHY audio. This is what it sounds like natively? One of the greatest VGM soundtracks of all time and they made it sound like someone ran over a singing toothbrush with a truck. Tragic.
It's compressed, but sounds better on the actual N-Gage. The audio driver on EKA2L1 isn't amazing either, however it's the only Symbian emulator. That being said, 8000mhz was the standard at the time for symbian, outside of MIDI and MMF, for applications; I kind of prefer it being more chunky than poorly cut up like N64, but everyone's ears are different. The put a lot of focus into the gameplay which I think is most important, you can always mute the music and listen to a CD or so, but they tried.
It's impressive how good this port is, all of my lines and testing from the PS1 version (i.e. the super high wallride you can do in downtown) would work identically on this version!
Plays the same as PS1 on the actual N-Gage as well, been playing it since about 2013 now. The new additions are welcome too, I have so many edited replays on my n-gage.
Was in the mood to play this great port, so I figured I'd record it; Uncommentated because it was just really late, was kinda tired... not my best run either but I hope you enjoy regardless. I also show off the four bonus levels after the career mode, the ones back-ported from THPS2's splitscreen mode.
Thanks a lot! I always wanted to listen this song without putting the game. Greetings from Mexico!
I feel the same way, enjoy!
Thanks for uploading this. I played this game religiously as a kid thinking “wow! These graphics are so cool!” 😅 nostalgia unlocked ❤
These budget ps1 games are a wonderful paradox. Stuttery framerate, blocky models, aliased as shit, but there's just something that's so cool about how it looks. Something about the colors, the water textures, the backgrounds and UI. It's.... unintentional budget maximalism, maybe? Late-90's Sega Arcade Sports Game-core aesthetics? I dunno but I dig it. Hadn't heard of this game before, so I'm glad I stumbled across your video.
Framerate aside, it's a rather interesting game and, from what I can tell, the only wake boarding game on the platform. This game was budget yes, and a very minimalist team, a few of them not even being programmers/modelers/sound artists but surf/wake boarding shop equipment owners. The shop does not seem to be in business anymore, however.
