Making 40 Pieces of Modular Terrain for the Same Price as a Box of Intercessors
Просмотров 3,2 тыс.2 года назад
In this installment of my Terrain Essentials series, I made an absurd amount of modular terrain for less than the cost of a box of Intercessors. It was a really long project, but I ended up with enough terrain for two tables. This is a really approachable project for crafters just getting started, as you can build as much or as little as you need, depending on the amount of terrain you need. En...

This deserves more views. Really great ideas, I'm going to scoop up a cheap skeleton on November 1st!
Man you killed it on this build it all works together and the paint really unifies the look great job.
love love LOVE packaging material. been using it for a while on my train layout.
I am new to 3D printing and Necromunda. I found this awesome box when I was hunting for cool stuff to print, and I have to say I was blown away by the design. Keep up the great work.
Excellent builds. This is why we hoard and collect so-called rubbish [trash]. Some great ideas there. Thank you. Subscribed )O(
I like the creativity but it seems like this would slow down combat immensely or discourage movement.
Very helpful. Saw this after beginning my own project. I befan by glueing lids / tops onto mdf then building up with sand and pva. Its for smaller scale games and will provide substantial cover, in some cases sufficient for whole squads.

Excellent stuff, man! Glad I'm not the only one who sees projects in mundane objects... and keeps them for that "a-ha" moment.
Instead of tape over the LED contacts, you could just hot glue over them.
How did you cut the dowel hole in the resin platform?
I drilled them out with a drill press.
Thats a a truly beautiful packing insert. So many good shapes an absolute gold mine
Now you gotta wonder, are they making Wildsnake, or Second Best? Kick butt build man!
Fantastic challenge and pay off! You really really did a great job
👍👍👍
👍👍👍
👌👌👌
Really nice conversion. The Straw hat Ork, stroke of genius.
I really vibe your builds. You build like I have for the last 30 years. It's old school with very little and interesting random toys and shapes. So it's very inexpensive to an easily achieved for beginners. Keep up the great work. I will definitely follow your future projects. Also, you should snag yourself some of the rectangular 22 ammo holders that come in the box to keep the ammo upright. They are a nice hard plastic and make excellent syfy catwalks, a little balsa frame, and you got a sick, easy bridge. Just food for thought.
Yupp, these are frigin Sweeeet. Saved this video for when I make my own or to share!
This is perfect, I was looking for stuff to make ocean combat feel real and here you are with exactly what I need thank you for sharing
I remember doing this when I was a kid! Nowhere near the detail. You just made me remember a part of my life.❤
I enjoyed the little tutorial in Microsoft 3d Builder. Educational.
also, protip, using the plant tray is a good idea, but you can make your life much easier by cutting the bases where you put the plants off and making the molds you will use the actual size yo need them to be, separate from the original piece. the dragonteeth can be glued between 2 strips of card to make a line of molds that will stand on their own, and actually cutting the barriers molds out and sealing the ends with card and sealing the end with duct tape on the inside will give you much easier to manage tools to mass produce with. though ill be honest, im lazy so i bought plant trays like these and cut them up and filled the bits i wanted to use with a mix of hot glue and cardboard, then just painted them to look like stone. i got a set of 5 trays for £3 and they made me two dozen dragonteeth and like a yard of barriers and i didnt need to mess around with concrete
nice job mate. i would look at using a hot glue gun on the hedgehogs though. it sets so quick it helps with the sliding problem. id actually consider using hot glue instead of tacky on most of those pieces for the speed at which it sticks stuff together.
I like hot glue, but on such small things I've had it get a little too thick. Might be the nozzle on my glue gun though. Thanks for the tips!
Intercessors please!
The robe ones? Custodian warden legs with intercessor torsos.
Not sure if it's your camera but in the wide shots the gold frames and the sandstone concrete looked too similar to really read as different.
Yeah, I admit I'm still learning the finer points of camera work. The metallic stands out better in person.
@@forgeofsagas not sure how much of that is your skills vs your camera, thanks for clarifying that point though.
No problem. The point was just to shake up the traditional grey colors that you always see with industrial terrain. I chose those colors because they match a lot of my other terrain, but you could do whatever you like. For example, another idea I think would look very nice is a dark green with copper metal work.
it's beautiful
Haha I just bought that same tree at a thrift shop
It's a really versatile piece.
this is cool with the release of velkorr and the tenth eddition.
Ugh... concrete is such an awful material to advocate using for creating. Even Quikrete has Portland Cement in it. If you're using this, you should have gloves, eye protection, and a respirator. You definitely dont want the dust in your lungs or eyes.
Algorithm just dropped this into my suggestions now - great execution in laying out the modularity. Definitely taking this to apply to different sized (and shaped) buildings for things like Stargrave, Frostgrave, Five Parsecs, RoSD, etc.
Glad you found it useful!
Nice!!! 😊
Thanks!
Gotta admit, I'm a real sucker for gaming paraphernalia. And that is a mighty fine Necromunda dice box. Awesome work!
Much appreciated!
Great stuff
I've been on the fence about ordering this kit, it looks amazing but the assembly concerned me. This video was extremely helpful!
Glad I was able to be of assistance
Chicken wire bridge. Genius.
Thanks. It's simple but effective.
Pretty cool. I love the combination of 3D printing and crafting.
Keep up the good work. It looks glorious.
Thanks! I've got a few projects on my desk, so I'm going to get some new stuff out soon
I love this build. I also would really like to know those cargo nets are made from. They would be great on some of my projects.
It was a fabric mesh that my neighbor gave me. I have no idea where she got it unfortunately. Sorry about that.
Hey man, wild question: where did you get the STLs for the Imperial Walls?
I got them from this Kickstarter. www.kickstarter.com/projects/lorazam/grimdark-stronghold-3d-printable-fortification-and-terrain?ref=android_project_share
Cool build. Love the steam effects
Thanks! It's a really simple way to add a little life to projects like this.
Your rocks really came out nice, love the paint job!
Thanks!
This is so cool! ❤
Thanks! It was a bit tricky, to get right, but it was a lot of fun.
As soon as you said "I have another idea for the building for another project" I was dashing for the subscribe button!
I say that a lot lol. Hopefully I will be able to get to that soon. Gotta increase my Necromunda options.
Nice build
Thanks!
Nice builds.. the wonders of packing material..
Indeed. I've been saving up a bunch of material to do another build. Going for an ash wastes settlement theme
@@forgeofsagas sounds good.. best of luck with your channel
NOT DAVE!
Maybe next time he'll think twice about buying that second hand plasma gun from a shady ash wastes trader lol
Great stuff, just watched from your first building on playlist till this one while painting one of my armys. I've been playing 40K since end of 2nd edition chaos. Have the codex and 3rd edition rule book that have tips on how to build your own personal terrain for your own personal warhammer table. Wish their was a way to show you a few of my own and maybe show you what is in the books so you can see how much it has progressed from 1992 onwards.
That sounds like a cool thing to include in a rule book. I'm glad you liked the videos. If you want, you can send some pictures over on Instagram. I'd love to see your work.
@@forgeofsagas I dont use institutional ideas or social media stuff. Email at most and you tube for knowledge and entertainment.
Nice! I didn't know they allowed printed pieces for this.
My store does allow a few things, but they still want the majority of the board to be GW.
