Summer Porcini in the Adelaide Hills | December 2023 | Mushroom Foraging
Another incredible summer porcini season. In the past, when found porcini in summer, they were mostly yellow and way past their prime and generally only good for sporing or dehydrating. However, it was so amazing to have found so many fresh porcini in the month of December. Hopefully, this is a sign of a bumper autumn mushroom season.

Foraging: Picking pine mushrooms (Saffron Milk Caps) in Spring - South Australia 2021
Never knew that there are so many different colored wild edible mushrooms in South Australia. Knowledge is King, thanks for sharing and teaching your young ones the joys in foraging for food.
Were their oak trees around or just pines?
@@TheC920996mmkj just pines in that location.
Love that❤

You should keep on doing mushroom videos. I follow plenty of mushroom accounts but yours got the best vibe. Always makes me excited to go out foraging mushrooms! :)
@alexanderhult484 Thank you for the encouragement. It has been a poor season and I have struggled to find many mushrooms. There is a video in the pipeline, but need to find the motivation and time to publish it. Thanks again for watching our videos.
@@FruitsOfLife001 I understand! you can't really control the mushrooms and when they grow. Looking forward to see. more! Greetings from Sweden
You should do tours,id buy a spot
Omg the triplets,so cute
Nice one. It's been years of searching and I've still not found one lol. This seasons Pine mushrooms have been very scarce too. Any idea why?
There has been little rain all year and mushrooms need plenty of rain. Unfortunately the rain came too late (July) and that why there aren't many mushrooms around. Kuitpo SA has lots of saffies right now.
@@FruitsOfLife001 Yeah, summer was quite dry. I was checking for mushies all autumn after a good rain. So at this point, are we expecting a small mushroom crop this year? and maybe a stronger summer flush?
@scottymeffz5025 yeah I'm hoping for a good summer flush of porcini. But in terms of pine mushrooms, I think spring will see a good flush if we get more rain.
@@FruitsOfLife001 Thanks for your help and advice. One final piece of advice if you don't mind... where can I find porchini?! lol
@scottymeffz5025 ah the million dollar question lol. I generally find them in Sterling, Crafers and Aldgate under pine and oak.
I went today.. at Stirling area.. Couldn’t find Porcini mushrooms.. But..found a dozen Red Saffron mushrooms 🍄🟫 and cooked them this afternoon with Butter, Garlic 🧄, onions 🧅, Bacon 🥓 and Chili 🌶️, salt 🧂, spices. Then once cooked.. added. A splash of Lime o, lemon 🍋 and eat them hot.. man they were delicious 😋.. Cheers 🍷
@Famo59 that sounds delicious. Makes me want to go out this weekend to pick some saffies too. I've pickled some saffies recently and they taste amazing.
My best compliments! They are gorgeous! Ciao from Italy
@monicaalberti4833 thank you for watching our videos.
Give me the address please
Well done 👍 I might have to trade a sub gram Gold Nugget for a kilogram of Puccini.. mushrooms..!!🍄🟫
@Famo59 It's been a tough season. We only found a handful.
@@FruitsOfLife001 I might take a look around on Tuesday.
Goodluck my friend.
Leave me Some..!!
Unfortunately there was only one!
@@FruitsOfLife001 well we have had a couple of days of sunshine ☀️ so today there might be a few popping there head up.. Well lucky for Me..!!! I just uploaded a few videos of my gold prospecting trip.. so I get to keep those.lol I will be going in a week or so back to Victoria to find my Gold Porcini’s 👍🍻⛏️
@Famo59 well done. Your gold porcinis are worth much more than the mushroom ones lol. It's been a terrible mushroom season.
@@FruitsOfLife001 yes.👍
Greetings from Cyprus. Good harvesting year for milkcups also😊
The season is a little late in Australia this year.
Nice video thanks! Why don’t you ever cut your mushrooms? And I take it that most are not edible. Do you go back and pick them up to eat them. You sure know your mushrooms
Thanks for watching our video. We don't cut them because it seems like a waste of the big chunk at the bottom. But mainly because it's more enjoyable to hear crunch when we pull them from the ground.
Wow, amazing 💜💜💜👍👋
Hřib smrkový really nice
Very Bad boletes saison last year in m'y région ( France)😢😢😢 too hot, no rain... Climat changing🧐🧐✋🏼✋🏼✋🏼✋🏼✋🏼✋🏼✋🏼✋🏼
It is very dry right now in South Australia. There has been no rain even though it is autumn.
Beautyfull bolete 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Remarkable.👍
Can't wait for the autumn season to begin.
Do you still have the wine caps pop up?
No unfortunately. We had a about 2 or 3 flushes and that was it. Still it was fun to grow.
Wow yummy delicious mushroom 🍄🟫porcini delicious
Found any during this few weeks?
No, too dry. Need some good rain.
@@FruitsOfLife001 perhaps tomorrow or Saturday is a good time to go? Seems like today will finally have some rain. What do you recommend?
@LiJunhao-ew6gi yes finally some rain! I usually head out 1-2 weeks after the rain. I'm really excited 😊
@@FruitsOfLife001cheers, hope so get some luck. finger cross 🤞
Those nets are illegal
They certainly are. The video was made a long time ago.
Wonderful harvest ❤
Thank you. 😊 looking forward to the autumn season.
Went looking this summer and found as many as I found during autumn - zero >.<
Lol. Took us a few years before we found our first porcini. Don't give up.
Yay! 🍄
Yes, it's been a long time coming lol
Happy Easter 🐣👍
Thanks. You too.
Onlar yeniyomu ? kızlar selamlar,kolay gelsin👋
I got some last week.
Fantastic! It's a crazy season. Seems to have died down now.
Private property?
No, we only forage in public areas. First time taking some friends.
@@FruitsOfLife001 Oh ok, thank you :) Are there a lot during summer? Or just a few here and there?
@scottymeffz5025 there are crazy amounts this summer thanks to the recent rain. We have found over 20kg
Girthyyyyy
The girth is girthy!
I used to go mushrooming in the hills with my Dad 😊❤
It's an activity that my kids also enjoy.
@@FruitsOfLife001 I think that's wonderful ❤ some of my fave memories early Sunday mornings fresh mushrooms cooked in butter on toast 😊❤
@zanleisavnieks3746 oh yes! Best way to cook them! Simple is best.
@@FruitsOfLife001 oh yes you're so right delicious 😋
In a tribute to my dad who passed away 9 weeks ago I found 10kgs last weekend and placed a little fat one on his grave. He loved it when we used to go out together.
The best! ❤
The summer has been awesome!
You must have the best spots.
I think we just happen to get to spots before others.
Who tf just rips mushrooms out of the ground 💀
Hello! That was huge ones. What are you going to do with those? Just wondrin'... Great video!🎉❤
Thank you for your positive feedback. We usually dehydrate the big old ones or spread the spores in hope more porcini will grow.
@@FruitsOfLife001 thank you.
Congratulations, a truly beautiful 2.3 kg giant, I have never found a similar specimen.. very nice channel, well done Goodbye from Italy!
Thank you 😊
@@FruitsOfLife001 Well done ! a curiosity, does the pinophilus variety also originate there?
@porcinirossiandco.mushroom no I don't believe they originated in Australia, but that variety apparently does grow in Australia.
@@FruitsOfLife001 OK thank you if they were born there they would weigh 5 kg!! 😂👍
