    Glad I found your channel. Love the review and straight forward presentation. I have a mash up kit of a Titan 50 and DIY Pearl acoustic and I really want to upgrade the hi-hat and cymbals with Lemon products but I will need to get a Roland Td-17 or eDrumin 10 to get dual zone and triple zone cymbal capability plus I still haven't bought a VST. Keep up the good work

    The Edge is not a Pick-up. It is a Switch, which is either Open or Closed. Many cymbals only have the switch around the front of the cymbal (180 degrees), but this has a 360 degree Switch. The velocity of the hit is detected by the Bow Piezo Pick-Up, above the Threshold. The Piezo Signal is then interpreted by the Module based on whether the Edge Switch is Open or Closed. The Choke is achieved by an After-Hit Switch Close, which is then interpreted by the Module as a Choke and play out is turned off. The question is how long they will last?

    I would used Acrylic plate instead of the black plastic plate . I just turned my MAPEX drum kit into a 2 in 1 Acoustic / Electronic Kit that way i can still Play my Acoustic kit out side and play the electronic inside , I bought the Covering that you cover Subwoofer boxes with it is 2mm thick, you can buy it in Black or Grey Color. I had a spare 22 inch Drum Head, and I Used the Spray on Automotive Head liner glue non toxic worked perfectly. ( Note for the bass kick i also had the electronic kick from my old Alesis I used that took it all apart mounted the center piece PVC Ring cut out so that it can be screwed on to the drum head sounds great.👍

    I just installed the Lemon HHC12 with my TD-17 module. Works great! I used the settings in this video and didn't feel the need to do the test tone detail. It also works just out of the box. Install per the instruction and you are set. As others have pointed out (here or elsewhere), the kit now includes an extra thicker washer that solves the problem.

    First... thank you for the taking the time to make this video...I run a fairly large channel and know the amount of time these take to make so I really appreciate it. I was really interested in getting one of these and your video was very precise in showing the "how to" .... the part I was most confused about. I have an acoustic set converted to E with an alesis strike pro module and an alesis studio dm 10 module ran through the same yamaha mixer you showed in the video...so that was awesome to see. I went to order it after watching this and I guess the PRO kit is on backorder til August...so big bummer there. I did see a "concert" version but you have to buy everything extra including a 1500 watt amp at an additional cost of 600..woosh!! ..Ill wait for the pro to be back in stock lol. I saved your video for future reference when I actually get it in. But thank you again for making the video and going into detail on the install.Very much appreciated sir.

    Thanks for this, it was very informative. I actually saw Brooks Wackerman from Avenged Sevenfold with a similar DYI solution which I found very smart and it was essentially a lot of tape around his wireless pack pressed against the throne. At $45 I think it’s a bit expensive for what it essentially is a plastic piece with a thin slot, so I’m sure someone (or even the maker) is going to come up with a way to make this cheaper, especially with 3D printing being so ready available to anyone these days. But it’s a practical idea even for drummers like me, who play with somewhat of an e-kit at home and always need to have my headphones plugged to my mixing desk. If I add a small volume amp that’s supposed to be attached my shorts for instance, then this would make sense. Definitely a good product, regardless.

      Thanks for watching! I’ve been using this for a while now on my e-kit with a headphone amp, and I don’t think I’ll be able to live with out it now, which is a sign of a good product.

    Very nice review. I just recently bought my very first Lemon cymbals (Two Lemon LE-9C2 9" Dual Zone Splash Cymbals). I have them hooked up to an eDrumin 10 using Superior Drummer 3. (My kit originally started out as a Roland TD-17 KVX2.) While I can't vouch for how long they will last since I have only had them set up for about a week but so far, I have been pretty impressed! Hopefully this doesn't sound like a sales pitch, but I purchased the cymbals through e-Drumcenter, and didn't have to pay the crazy shipping costs nor wait a long time if bought through Alibaba. And as a bonus, I also got free shipping and a two-year warranty to boot! *RANT* Regarding the Roland clamps, I absolutely HATE having to disassemble portions of the rack just to add a clamp to hold a pad or cymbal. I really wish Roland would get their shit wired and quit making things difficult in order for them to save a buck and charge the customer more bucks and would have been nothing for them to use the type of clamp that Lemon included in the expansion kit you reviewed. I am glad to see more competition in the eDrum market. *END RANT*

    • @myfavoritedrumgear
      @myfavoritedrumgear 3 месяца назад

      Thanks for watching. the lemon clamps could be just a touch easier to use if they put the wingnut on a hinge like a lot of the gibraltar hardware uses, but they are still so much easier than the roland for the exact reason you mentioned.

    Thank you for the review. I have the pro version. I still need to install it on my Porter & Davies seat. But the Porter & Davies seat has a metal plate and I cannot just drill the screws through the metal plate. So I will need to take the metal plate off to see where I can drill the holes. And the metal plate is directly screwed in to the wood of the seat and this is not designed to be taken of multiple times. How do I know? I needed to to take of the metal plate to install the hydraulic part of my Pearl D-1500RGL Roadster seat onto the Porter & Davies seat. And that’s why I also know that I cannot just drill holes into the metal plate. Furthermore I will need to use bolts, nuts and blue loctite instead of screws. As these are not included, I will,l need purchase them. So installing on a Porter & Davies seat is not so straightforward.

    What a profoundly in depth and comprehensive review of the actual product. If anyone did any drum gear with this level of review they would be touching an audience who appreciate the instrument to its full potential and extent. Absolutely excellent video. Just bought one!

      I'm interested to learn more about the problem you're having- what hi hat stand are you using?

    I just got one of these a few days ago, and the one I got appears to have some improvements. The center is now a much harder plastic or rubber (similar to Roland) than the floppy rubber yours appears to have, and the metal anti rotation stopper is also now basically the same size as the plastic ones that come with most e-cymbals. I had to use a Dremel and a sanding band to widen the top of it, though, because my hi hat clutch (Gibraltar 5707) wouldn’t fit all the way through. I also initially tried your hack to bypass the stopper issue, but the cymbal would still rotate no matter how tight I made it. But all seems well now, and I appreciate your review. Just an FYI for anyone else that might get one, and run into the same issue.

    Awesome! Do you know if these hihats will work with a VAD103 module? Cheers!

      It should. The TD07 is compatible with VH1 and VH11 hats, so these should work with your kit. Thanks for watching!

      I am still using the 20" and two 17" cymbals as 2-zone crashes. They are all holding up just fine!

    This review is very well done and made me try the Lemon 15" crash/ride (using as a crash) and the 15" china. So props for the high-quality content that literally proves the value of influencers and reviewers such as yourself, both to the community and to these brands. My experience has been that both cymbals are usable, but there are very obvious quality differences between the Lemon and Roland variants. The Lemon crash is MUCH louder in the room and feels a bit like hitting a heavy plastic trash can lid. The feel of striking the edge hard is immediately evident on my arthritic joints than on the Rolands. It's a night and day difference, although one that younger hands may not even notice. While I returned the 15" crash/ride, I kept the china. It's 15.4" across, is shaped like a china cymbal, and because of the shape they added a lot more thicker rubber to the contact point. This made it quieter (although still louder than the Rolands) and reduces the impact feel significantly. It'll be interesting to see if if it holds up.

    I just purchased & set this up last night. I'm in Canada where everything is really expensive because of currency exchange and shipping. My cost on the Buttkicker Pro was $587.00 CDN. including tax. No shipping as I picked it up. The vendor suggested saving about $100 on the Plus version instead of the Pro but I figured I'd get the version with the stronger amp to be safe with some more head room. There's no way I could justify spending about $2K on a P&D throne to get it here even though these days, I'm gigging only electronic. I'd love to try one but that's not going to happen. With my setup I'm using a Pearl Mimic Pro module. I routed my kick and 2 floor toms all to a single direct out. I did as @baorozzo mentioned and moved the shaker right up to the base of the seat. That made some difference in intensity for sure. Dialing it in, I turned the floor toms down in the direct out mixer as they were shaking the crap out of me (not literally). Your tip on switching to mono was golden by the way. Last night I kept turning it on playing, turning it off playing.... unbelievable difference in the experience. It does what I expected and the accuracy for me was great. My one question was on getting the crossover to work the way I envisioned it would. At one point I ran the snare drum through the same output and cranked the crossover way up. I couldn't get it to pick up. Not an issue though, just an experiment. I would also have preferred they used a finished end cable to connect the shaker to the amp like the P&D setup. I don't really like the 2 connection point solution they use on it. 2 gigs this weekend. Can't wait to run it through it's paces. As usual your reviews are exactly what everyone needs. No B.S. and full of great personal experience info. Please keep it up. thanks
