This was one of the most well-run events I have ever attended. The Real Aikido organization brought together an impressive roster of world-class instructors for seminars prior to this finale of demonstrations which drew thousands of spectators. The atmosphere was nothing short of amazing fellowship, cooperation and camaraderie as an excellent example of the brotherhood of martial arts. Huge thanks to everyone, for your selfless efforts and a memory of a lifetime! Ljubomir Vracarevic Sensei was an amazing martial artist and visionary. Rest in Peace my friend!

I was with my daughter, then she was in the first grade, 7 years old, that evening in Mirijevo, 11 years ago. stunned by Natalija's superior performances, she immediately enrolled in aikido. today 11 years later the daughter is a black belt first day, and an official assistant coach. thanks natalia, at the same time, she trained judo for a year, and kick boxing for a year

Technically speaking, Aikido is a very effective set of self defense art. The only and the biggest weakness of it is the lack of aliveness and resistance training. They should incorporate that kind of training to see how far the effectiveness of the techniques. I my self also an Aikido practitioner too for almost 9 years, then I incorporate Kyokushin and Boxing into my training, to bridge the gaps in my arts.

You guys don't know what you're talking about. Akido is real! I'm a 5th Dan and I've taken down 8 guys and 6 girls in the last 3 years. When used properly, it is a very effective defensive system. And I'm not the biggest guy either.

i really liked it, it looks like some of those moves would work in real world womens self defense situation!

Wat the hell?? Totally out of O'sensei teachings... What he want is a harmonizing and soft martial art... This is to aggressive and look more like jujutsu...

i did aikido for abt 3yrs...how effective is it? idk..neva had2 use it..if i do end up in a confrontation i wil probably fall bak on the training did in judo/tkd...at the very least i can say is that aikido is certainly not 1of the easier MA..if that makes sense..&no doubt it is a very complex art..nothing u can really apply after a few months of training...unlike something like karate..u learn a punch or a kick & u can apply it shortly after

in every aikido video theres a stupid ass talking shit about the MA.or saying that why is not taken to mma,aikido is a defensive martial art...it doesnt have much submissions moves and the grappling game is just to brake bones..mma is a competition where u shouldnt brake nobodys bones,aikido is basically to leave your opponent out of combat o kill him,aikido doesnt have much attacks because is defensive people defensive fighting system

Im sorry but I agree, most Aikido, especially AikiKai which this is not, isonly as effective as can be applied against actual trained attackers. I was fortunate to have trained with the 2nd Doshu, Nishio Sensei, Tomiki sensei, and Shioda sensei. They would hurt us if we 'gave in' to the technique. When one has lost , or given up their balance, the only way to respond is to 'dive' into the momentum, regain the control and perfom Sutemi Ukemi on the way over. This is something everyone needs.

That is not really aikido. Looks more like aikijujutsu. Or even jujutsu. If you really want to look real aikido search for Osensei, Saotome, Tohei. or any of the original Osensei apprentices . Sadly this is a flashy show for newcomers to the art. Aikido is much more than that. Not this cheap demonstration.

@Daniel7133 you realise that if they guy doesn't jump to be thrown by the arm then the guy's wrist will break into 2 you realise that right? i mean if I jammed your wrist in a rotating vice machine and rotate it, are you going to not jump and spin or are you going to let your wrist break? thats what people jump when a person is thrown by the wrist, its basic reaction.

Meen meen meen....... what haven`t you understand at the Word Aikido?? AI= HARMONY, KI=Universal Power (Lifepower also), DO=The Way. This looks like bloody fighting Kids tryin to get their anger off..... there is NO Harmony, no dynamic in this.... it`s a shame... . Aikido is, to use the Energy of your Enemy against him! Not to create greater Power as him and Destroy him. As OSensei said: If you get attacked, close your opponent into your heart.

@cruzerrepublic The more I watch this video the more disappointing it is. Just another macho showoff who does aikido a disservice by calling it real aikido, when it's more accurately, her version of it, with a bunch of punches and kicks added. Looking at a couple of her other videos it's apparent she's capable of better than what she shows in this catastrophe, and it'd be better if she'd drop the pretense of calling it real aikido, which it is not, either in execution or mindset.

@klawock Steven Seagal just does his own thing now since he isn't even teaching anymore. A good example of the "kick" that he "taught" Silva in his last victory in the MMA ring fight. Keep in touch for I'm in the middle of a discussion with the lady who's in this video.

@REALNANATA I don't know, you tell me what this video is about. Are you the brunette? I'm sure you're a lovely woman but in Aikido there are no grandiose shows of roughness and such, no shows of brute force like here. If I wanted to use brute force I take up street fighting. Or Krav Maga. Or MMA. Or a baseball bat would do the job just fine.

Upon watching again, she's got some stuff in there that is absolutely stupid and is not much more than showboating. Her performance shows no sense of flow, balance or proper body alignment and is filled with the most ridiculous hype, all to the detriment of Aikido.

@cruzerrepublic You pretty well nailed it, except that even Aikijutsu wouldn't have been so strike heavy. I've always felt that Steven Seagal's version is closer to actual Aikijutsu and what this practitioner is doing appears to be a deliberate combination of Aikido techniques combined with more traditional karate closings. Real Aikido? Absolutely not. Morihei Ueshiba believed that the ultimate peak to be reached in Aikido was when one was capable of defeating an opponent with no harm done.

yeah aikido is very real..as what i've experienced, it helped me a lot..i have been using the techniques for many years..to make you believe, i am a very light built and i was able to take down a heavy enemy..i didn't attack him but defend myself instead.

Always very funny...japanese sabre and their cutting techniques. I was hoping as well on european martial arts. Never the less; i don't know if he is really good with that big knife, but he is a great show man... compliments....

what i don't like: 1) the music...is it trying to make it more dramatic, or cool, or 'movie' like? 2) The fact that when she gets the other person onto th ground, she hits the floor. The more you practice just hitting the floor, the more likely you're going to do that if a real situation arises :/
