Thanks for the walk through. You have definitely encouraged me to visit this museum.
Wonderful video! I love all the information.
i have a really nice leaf shaped preform(very thin). found near ft. ancient . is there any way i could send you picture to give any information on it? Thanks - Joe
So many collectors and knappers pronounce Gorget incorrectly.....Just sayin. Really enjoy your videos and enthusiasm for the Stone Age!!!! Thanks. Can't wait for more ......
This was great! Would love to see more interviews with Ed.
Thank you. nice finds
I have found a lot in OHIO Stark co
A couple of my favorite preforms aren't for points. I have a preform for a bowtie gorget made of slate, and a preform for a banner or tube pipe. The banner/pipe turned out to be made of chert. It has a nipple from the cane drill that was used. It's my favorite because I found it in a part of an adjoining field that I never found anything else in. Which told me when he figured out it was chert, he threw it as far as he could. That one always makes me laugh when I see it.
Great videos.
Very interesting presentation
Very , very interesting. Special thanks to Ed for sharing his knowledge.
Such a pleasure to benefit from the experience and knowledge of two seasoned artifact aficionados. Thank you gentlemen.
So interesting! Thank you!
Kudos, gentlemen. Thank you.
This was so interesting. Now I have to go through my cores and closely observe them. I never thought about where they were in their life cycle. So many ways to look at them.
Question: are preforms more common in one culture than another?
Good question
I believe all had preforms, caches have been found that were paleo, archaic, thru woodland .
@@EdMoreland-p6q - thanks!
@ welcomes
Very interesting. Looking forward to Part B.
Wow! Just Wow! Another great video with fine people. Look forward to part B.
Last week Roy Miller today Ed Moreland! It's like a Hollywood red carpet of flintknappers
Amazing information! Looking forward to part b
So sorry to miss this. Please have another.😊
Wow! Now I understand why some are heat treated now and others are now. What a cool thing to be able to do!
Vintage…I can never get enough of him. He teaches by example.
Thanks for the video I had the opportunity to meet Mr Miller at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds Knapp in, and bought a beautiful dovetail, a very nice gentleman!
Miketufts, indeed! Enjoy your treasure.
Great interview Mark. He’s one of the icons of the flintknapping world. Awesome content for your channel.
CommissionerTom, seems integrity will live on forever. He’s the real deal. Thanks Tom.
A true artist and gentlleman.
Mac, and there are never enough. Thanks Mac.
He is a true artist....Thanks. Very informative !!! James
James, like you, I can never get enough of him.
Roy is an absolute artist. Thanks for the visit.
Anxietor, you are welcome.
Thank you for this opportunity. We can't wait!!! BIG SMILES! Kylie
I'm also very exited thank you for this opportunity
Very much looking forward to the event! Sounds to be informative.
Exactly!!! I totally agree. For sure I have several "overshots" that are simply more than debitage. I've looked and wondered and thought they were tools. Your content and videos have taught me so much. Thank you!!!
Charles, All good news and "a way of life", never to give up...Best addition are friends w/ similar interests...This is one of the BIG reasons why this u tube exists...and why I am putting together this Nov., great workshop. Thanks for following. Much appreciated!
Bizarreparade…great observation. The lithics are very similar. Reference steatite…not uncommon at all, pieces of this material (steatite) commonly have their sides polished and many were part of a much bigger artifact. On my dig site, nearly 100% have their edges and sides polished.
Why is the video field such a small screen? Just sayin.
Loueckert…lots of laughs, corrections being made for future videos. I think someone once said “To error is human…” Stay with us.
I learned a lot from this video. Much appreciated!
Davidn…thank you! Hope you stay with us 😊
Definitively a hand held scrapper, 5:00 as it is to small to be a bilit. This was worked continually by looking at "(the total distinct platform)"; & often on these carved faces, are smoothened & textured surfaces for the placment of their digits. I thought overshot was when you planned, [for your bulb of compression]; to be present on both sides of your knife. Thus one strike, (sharpened & thinned);both sides of your arrowhead. Clovis points have overshoots in them, & most Native American Indian ones don't.
Fennynough…great comments. Thanks a mil. Always the connection between the cone and distal end are relevant and help decypher the use of the artifact.
This was great. Thanks.
Tracy…you are welcome and appreciated. Thank you.
Thank ya kindly
Artifactsantler…you’re welcome!
Thank you always interesting and helpful.
Paul Stan…you’re welcome! Stay with us 😊
I know a lot of people that only pick up arrowheads I pick up everything lol. Thank you for all this knowledge.
BryanKoenig…I’m smiling. You have guaranteed yourself some wonderful, exciting winters work! “Identification!”
How informative! I love how you also spend time explaining the breakdown of tools. I might be the minority - but I like finding tools better than finding points. Always have.
VintageJohnstown…self included! I believe uniface pieces were much of the center activities on prehistoric village sites.
Well done!
Suzanne…thanks! Much appreciated. (Sorta…lots of laughs)
Awesome video.
Normaferro…thank you. We are hopeful these become more useful, more relevant. Much appreciated.
10:18 looks like a clay rib used to form pottery, especially coil construction used to join the coils and make the contour of the vessel. I could see net weight, but I think it is too wide for some reason, as I can see it dancing through the water instead of diving to the depths. Really helpful video!
Grizzly…great comments! Thank you. I don’t necessarily agree with anchor either. Stay with us!
Great show.
Bobknuth…thank you! Stay with us 😊
I've been here! Lots of cool stone tools to look at.
Tracy…indeed! It’s a perfect setting to study the pieces and their associated culture.
Um grande artefato geológico
Loucosportututorials…indeed. We call those made by Mother Nature “geofact”. And those made by prehistoric man, “artifacts”. Often prehistoric people would pick up a geofact and sculpt it into an artifact. Hope this makes sense. Stay with us.
Moro no Brasil ,e acabei de encontrar um bastão de pedra provavelmente dos nossos antepassados , acabei mim separando com seu vídeo aula ao pesquisar o que é , isso é muito interessante
Luoco…thank you, stay with us.
Excellent presentation!!
Scott…thank you, we really work hard with these. Much appreciated.
I would like to know more about VUG-- Stones!
Sallystokes…basically it is a geological formation in an artifact, and often plays out as a small hole. All of which is natural.
